Street Fighter V Lounge "We on South Central crack addict status"

I like this idea a lot. The only thing I’d change is that access to your EX specials should be exclusive to V-Trigger. I think it’d be too much if we had specials and EX moves and then even more powered up EX moves in V-Trigger. I already have some great ideas for Karin and other characters if V-Trigger plays out like this.

Honestly, I’d just take out EX altogether. Adding EX moves to most of the cast ruined the normal versions of those moves because they had to save properties (i.e. invul) for the EX.

Absoutely agree. EX moves serve their purpose in certain games. Why do they then get universal applicability status?

See: Regen health. Worked for one game. Now has to get forced into every FPS ever because that’s how you make an FPS now right?

Cross post from a different thread that will hopefully put all the “this isn’t different enough from SF4” bullshit to rest.

Not only all of that, but the more I look at it the more different it looks than SF4 (in a good way). Models are completely new, much better lighting, improved textures, and new animations.

Look at how good this picture that was taken from the gameplay trailer looks

That shit looks pretty amazing if you ask me.

Let me show you a comparative image from SFA -> SF3

Now here’s SF4 -> SF5

Now sit there and tell me with a straight face that the difference from SFA -> SF3 and SF4 -> SF5 isn’t comparable. You can’t because then you would be lying to yourself. It may not be that graphics/style leap we were hoping for after 6+ years, but it does look MILES better than anything that came out of SF4.

Alpha was a side project, not part of the officially numbered series. It would be much more fair to compare 1 to 2, or 2 to 3, or 3 to 4.

You also made the image of alpha and sf3 ryu absolutely tiny to make it harder to see details, while the SF4 and SF5 portraits are many times bigger allowing viewer to see everything crystal clear.

People keep thinking 5 should head towards a different art style, but all the SF games have always gone for a more realistic art style(with the exception of Alpha series and HD remix).

What I’m trying to say is, 5 looks pretty distinct compared to 4… and a lot better already.

I want this dynamic camera angle crap gone forever. If I can’t have sprites back at least let me have that. Compare the impact of SF4 SPD’s for example to 3S, ST or Alpha SPD’s… it’s just not the same level of impact. If the camera follows your movement, the sense of speed and momentum is completely lost.

I wish they’d have gone with cel shading like Guilty Gear Xrd, Arc did an amazing job with theirs. I couldn’t even tell it was cel shaded 3d from the initial screenshots until I saw the different camera angles, it legitimately looked like sprites.

I hate the softened toy/action figure look of SFIV, V, and especially the TvC/MvC3 style. I want something true to the originals but still scalable for future resolutions and cel shading is the perfect medium. Marvel just doesn’t feel like Marvel without the hand drawn look, and Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, etc. will always be 2D to me.

Is this better?

I would’ve ignored him. He will start calling srkers to boycott this game by patch 2, cause his character did not get the changes he wanted.

Lolll that’s their native res.

Much better, now both are in full pixelated glory! As you can see the 3s Ryu has a somewhat menacing frown and spikier darker hair. His glare suggests someone who has seen it all, experience, maturity, angry determination. While with Alpha Ryu the face exudes a boyish innocent charm, someone thrilled with exploring the world and learning as he fights more and more. 3s Ryu also has much more muscle mass in his legs and bigger feet, perhaps from all the years of wandering on foot. He also is darker, probably due to spending the vast majority of his time outdoors usually in warmer environments.

However again that was Alpha a side project. I posted earlier screenshots of Ryu vs Ken from SF1, SF2, SF3, and SF4. You can see how remarkably different they are in each iteration. SFV Ryu looks like a much more detailed SF4 Ryu. They added more detail to the gi cause they can with the better technology. They did fix the face so he looks normal which is a plus. I definitely am for a more serious darker look, but the models are very similar.

After 6 years counting with the SF4 models, I would think there would be a more remarkable difference in art direction/style.

There’s a little cvs2 Ryu in sfv ryu as well

well there were games that with better animation and graphics than sf4, sf4 was an accepted graphic style. we knew they could do better

sf3 animation blew sfa away. when you compare the graphics you have to take into account the animation.

though I’d admit if they had ryu and chun li in completely new stylish street outfits it would of been a lot more exciting. at least storywise, it would show they’re ready to take risks

I love them all!

at least give Ryu a beard or something. let him go through a faze, the guy is clean shaven with clothes on that looks like it smells like shit. come on

Man SF5 Ryu’s Gi is dingy as fuck! Give that motherfucker $2.00 so he can take his ass to the laundromat!

Next thing you know, y’all is asking for Mario to shave his mustache, or for Mickey Mouse to have smaller, square ears.

you forgot ryu from SF1.

interesting how weird his SF2 pose is. Ever tried to get into that pose. do it. see if you wont cramp up lol lol.
