You mean, her st.HP animation being recycled as her fireball animation?
Man, Hyper Fighting was soooo lazy
On the other hand, they actually made new sprites for her and other characters in Super and ST, but most of them looked nothing like the original art for the game (like E. Honda becoming a completely different character during his Oicho animation)
I just realized how much of a diva Ryu is about his hair color. First he’s a ginger, then he dyes it dark brown, then light brown, then fucking blue, then back to dark brown.
So he can afford to shave and dye his hair, but he refuses to wash the clothes he’s been wearing for 10+ years? Seems legit.
(I suck at taking screenshots, especially in WinKawaks)
Top half are his original sprites, untouched since SF2
Bottom half are his new sprites for ST
You can clearly see that they were drawn way after SF2 and probably by another person, the difference is very noticeable when you are watching a match in ST, they don’t mix well together but at this point I guess most people that play/watch that game got so used that they don’t really notice it anymore.
The same thing happened for a lot of characters that got new moves that don’t recycle old sprites: Zangief’s whiffed-SPD animation, Chun’s Kikouken, Guile’s Sonic Boom (his animation is different for whatever reason), Ryu’s overhead and solar plexus and Ken’s crazy kicks are a few of them
It was just one of the reasons that drove me away from ST back in the days
There was like an 8 year gap between 3S and the 1st SF4 trailer with nothing but re-releases of older SF games, so of course you’re going to be way more hyped. Not to mention the SF4 teaser with Ryu and Ken fighting in the field was trying much harder to capture everyone’s attention. The SF5 reveal was literally like 5 seconds of gameplay with some calm ass music while a guy is giving a motivational speech.
We literally just got a new version of SF4 THIS YEAR, so obviously the amount of excitement is going to be nowhere near the levels of the SF4 reveal. The leap from 3S to SF4 was 2D to 3D, while SF4 to SF5 is just much better graphics. Literally everything about the SF4 reveal was destined to be more exciting than the SF5 reveal, so you can’t really compare the two. I know I’m not as hype as when I saw the SF4 teaser, but it’s only natural now that we’ve been getting new SF games/updates for the past 6 years.
Same thing with MvC2 to MvC3. There was a 10 year gap between MvC2 release and MvC3 reveal, and the same 2D to 3D transition occured. You don’t see people flipping there shit about CoD anymore because they are used to it now.
Give it some time, I bet after Capcom Cup and around the first months of 2015 when more is revealed there will be shit ton more posts here and a lot more hype.
