Chun Li was in alpha 1, but she was absent in SF3 up until 3S.
Ryu and Ken are the only characters that have been in every SF, even SF1. That isn’t gonna change now and it should not.
What should happen is that Ken should finally come out of Ryu’s shadow and become his own, more different moves and appearance. Let him develop his own fighting style.
My bad. I always forget she wasn’t always in SF3 because the only iteration I’ve played is 3S. I’ve also only got minimal experience with the Alpha series.
Ah my mistake I thought she was missing from Alpha 1.
As for Ken, he has a fair number of his own moves they just pulled them back to the basics in SF4. Stuff like his QCF kicks as well as the wheel kick in CvS2 should come back.
This is all purely conjecture but here’s how I think V-trigger will work.
You have your normal stance then you can trigger a powered up stance that lasts for a duration like V-ism. In this state your attacks, specials, ex moves, specials are better in some shape or form. You may have access to new attacks or specials in this stance like guard crush. Not sure if damage is amplified and I hope it doesn’t give you free custom combos like v-ism.
It’s both a comeback mechanic and an offensive tool, depending on how you utilize it.
Yeah, I reckon you’ll be able to activate it mid-combo, having it replace FADCs role somewhat. Hopefully you can’t cancel DPs with it for safety though.
That makes less sense, especially if the trailer is indicating that V-trigger for Ryu allows him to guard break easier, something which lines up with Denjin which can be made unblockable.
But we don’t know if VT makes Ryu guard break easier, we just saw him guard break during a VT. Whose to say he can’t guard break or denjin during his normal stance.
If Capcom keep supers and ultras, it would make sense to keep ultras as exclusive to the V-trigger stance rather than give them their own meter again. Now whether ultras would replace supers during VT is another thing entirely. Just an idea anyway.
Or if it’s like A-Groove where you can always finish with a super so long as you’re still on the timer. I’d really like to see classic supers more and this would be a good way to implement it.
I sure hope this is the way they’ll, it most probably is. With SFIV they split the community every time when a new version came out as the update included not only characer but balance changes and tweaks. Only the biggest fans would buy the new updated version. Anyway havingg characters added on a regular basis keeps the game alot more fresh than having to wait 1 years each time, this also doens’t split community and you end up with a much big player pool.
Can’t wait until Capcom Cup for ofcourse the matches but also the new SFV info. It is a actually pretty smart of Capcom to announce it right before Capcom Cup as they’ll attract non-tournament viewers too that are just interested in SFV tidbits.
I really didn’t like the art style at first because of how reminiscent of it was of SFIV, but it’s growing on me. The stages in particular look a lot better and the character models with their more ‘serious’ look are welcome.
My main hopes are that they implement GGPO, a better matchmaking system (e.g., Endless request in training), fewer but better characters and fewer fundamental changes in game mechanics over the life span of the game.
I wonder if this is a sign that SF is dying down a bit since the release of ultra. Usually after a announcement like this threads like this would be 20 plus pages easy of all kind of stuff.
I think it’s because we now have a section for the game with over 20 different threads. If we told people to stop making new threads for everything (just like FGD and TT) then this thread would probably have more posts,
