You are crazy if you think Capcom will let you use PS3 joysticks when they will make a killing off of the SF5 TE2 for PS4. They are a company that is 100% about money and doesn’t care about it’s customers at all.
Which is what most companies SHOULD aspire to be. You should only care about customers for as long as it makes you money. Making a better game makes you money. Letting you use older technology when they plan to sell you new ones does not.
On top of that they have a deal with MadCatz who will be adamant against having their tech work on both older and newer consoles because they want to make money too. They certainly have no reason to terminate that deal just to make everyone feel better.
The problem Capcom has is the way they tend to annoy people actually will cause problems to their bottom line.
Except that MadCatz has nothing to do with this and has in fact been pushing for the driver to be used (especially since I believe they still have stock of older sticks that they need to get rid of).
Capcom doesn’t not get a cut off every joystick sold. The deal doesn’t work that way, while I can’t give the concrete details, what I can say is that MadCatz has to pay a set amount of sorts (via the Capcom Pro Tour sponsorship) to the rights to use SFV on their products.
Oh I have no problem with it. I personally think it would be a retarded business decision to make controllers backwards compatible. Why take potential money off the plate? I find it kind of amusing when people think that just because things are USB now that they should work in every component. It’s like they think that back in the day, if NES and SNES and GC controllers were all USB, they would just “work” across platforms. There is far more to it than that.
Never said they get a cut off of every joystick sold. I said they make a killing off of the joysticks.
MadCatz paying for for sponsorships instead of Capcom paying that portion = money in the bank.
I don’t really care what your so called “insider information” is. But to think Capcom isn’t benefiting from SF5 related TE2’s is just delusion. Most businesses (especially Capcom with their track history) don’t do things out of the kindness of their heart. They do it to make money.
I also have “insider information” and first hand experience with Capcom and how they filed C&D’s against apps I’ve made that weren’t even breaching any copyrighted material, but it still was pulled off the Google Play store because they think it will affect their bottom line.
Hell they even got a video pulled off of youtube that I made when one of my apps was in development, that was about a 20 second video, that I made just to show my friend how it worked.
I am hoping Capcom does not do single character DLCs. It fucks balance IMO, pack them together in updates.
But that roster is missing some flavor, we’ll know soon if it’s true. But it is close to some of the stuff we have been predicting in the other thread (I said Akuma will be a hidden character so give me a gold star!).
Sound way less bullshit than expected
The scientist in particular is interessing, i was just thinking some days ago that a character that do roids/drugs will be fun with V-trigger
Is easy see why some big fav like Ken/Cammy/Schoolgirlwaifu/Juri can be left out at begin, they will become a lot of easy free money
Kinda pissed at Hugo in instead The Gief and general no SF2 love, but overall with 2/3 mains in and the possibilities of get missing classics with season updates i will be ok with that cast
"Fighting Styles:
Then there’s Styles (the actual name for this is still up in the air according to the leak). Each character will have 3 different Styles to pick from (Much like the upcoming Mortal Kombat X), and just how different they are will differ between characters. Some characters will retain most of the same normal moves, but have different specials and/or supers. Other characters will be completely revamped and play almost nothing alike from their other Styles."
This make me hope that “karate stance” Ryu can be something more than a simple idle animation routine, Ryu vs Ken may become fun
