You haven’t played a good Chun yet. Her and Dhalsim have the highest execution in this game, it’s gonna take a while for people to get instant air legs, SBK combos, instant overhead mixups down.
She’s a tough character to use. Yeah agreed on her damage.
What instant overhead are you talking about? Not the stomps I hope…that is a gimmick in 99% of applications, has 0 range and requires a blocked jumpin or a dash in as a setup… Jumpin has 30 plus frames of startup, dash in has 15 frames of startup and stomp is at least 4 frame startup.
She has the stomps in a nearly identical fashion in sf4… We’ve seen how good they are there…
Chuns good, very good, but she doesn’t feel like an s tier or world beater. She feels like a character that controls grounded space well and has a ton of tools, but hits like a gnat.
Just use the universal solution against Vega: jump in. If it’s behind a fireball, which, coincidentally, Laura has, better. Vega is so free against jump ins it’s not even funny. And once you’re on top of him, he succumbs to pressure, too.
He’s not bad, because his other tools are excellent, but he has glaring weaknesses.
No…it’s when I was SUPER (and I mean super) salty about going on a…17 loss streak against a buddy of mine. I was so mad that I deleted him off my FL…I quickly regretted said decision after. Kiss and made up after it though. I don’t want to do that again.
I can’t perform it yet, but it leads to 50/50s on her setplay oki. Example like in that last Chun japanese video: sweep CC, whiff b.hp, jump hk (4 frame safe jump), instant headstomp, you can either do j.mk for a crossup or j.hk for non crossup. That’s pretty legit considering how offense is in this game.
I don’t understand the train of thought that says Chun has to have high damage to be considered good.
Fact is she is going to win the war of attrition because her buttons are that good coupled with having the second fastest walk speed in the game. When she finally works her way in, those little hits can certainly makeup for the difference. Thus she doesn’t need burst damage to win.
Yes you can. The motion is just different. It’s 23693+K instead of regular 2369.
In any case, IALLegs acts like a divekick, except that unlike most divekicks in this game, it’s actually kinda safe. Also, it straight up converts to her BnB (cr.lp, st.mp, cr.mk xx Legs/SBK) on hit. Speaking of which, that’s one other reason why folks (including Viscant in his Hit the Ground Running blog series) are saying she’s good, her main BnB is a light confirm (one that also functions as a frame trap).
If you are talking about me, I didn’t say she wasn’t good. Nor did I say she needed high damage to be good. I said her lowish damage keeps her in check and she certainly isn’t S tier like some players seem to be making her out to be.
She’s a solid character that loses convincingly to both cammy and vega and even some vortex characters if they hit her once or twice.
I’m simply saying she has weaknesses, some of which are glaring.
