SF is dead I guess… ;_;
I think he’s just referring to licensing rights if he ever wants to put out an artbook with Capcom characters in it. He will have to get approval from Capcom USA.
Mixi… I googled it and it’s some kind of online friends thing like a JP version of friendster I guess. Nothing to do with the SF sale. But in an earlier entry he says Bengus is on his Mixi list. I’m jealous.
lmao. Definitely.
son of a bitch
I agree this may be good news if its true. Considering that capcom hasn’t made a classic game since mvc2 (which was practically a US game), it makes sense to give the usa division a shot. Hopefully this will open the door to work with MS to enhance xbox live support (doa type online modes) rereleases of games like a3 and other marvel titles for consoles… areas i suspect capjap had little interest in. I thought america has the better tournament system, and IMO a better market technology wise (does anyone feel like making a CPS4 when you can just go PS2/xbox?), we just don’t have enough people proportional to our land mass.
i really don’t care which division of capcom makes sf4, just fucking make it already and stop bullshitting with cfe type of games.
someone email that to capcom of japan/usa.
Yeah…All I heard from Idiots when Gouki was revealed was “GOOKEE!” Dumbasses never understood the concept of silent letters…and assume the rest of the world pronounces words just like americans. [milk chan]DUMBASS!![/milk chan]
or they could hand over the developement of a new game to new talent
this could be a terrible end or a new beginning
either way its the waiting which’ll kill you
Not sure what to make of this, except that I think the SF franchise is better off in the hands of Capcom USA where there’s potential for new stuff to be done with it, rather than let it just linger in Capcom Japan’s possession when they’re not going to do anything with it anymore.
A new 2D SF game would be kind of a long shot unless Capcom decided to splurge on a really, REALLY impressive high-resolution style…like Guilty Gear resolution sprites with the framecount of 3rd Strike or something. A long shot…but not an impossibility. Even Capcom USA could find and successfully employ animation talent capable of pulling it off if they felt that the demand was sufficient enough.
Personally, I think the future of 2D fighters over here in the States boils down to fan-made games and small-scale professionally made games. If it boils down to the fact that the only people with the drive and desire to make a 2D fighter are the fans who love them, then perhaps that will be what it takes.
That’s exactly my belief, which is why I favor doujinshi games a lot. Japanese doujin games do lack mainstream appeal, though, which is the main point where they fall short… I’d love to see some good games made by the US SF scene, but so far I think everyone’s still hung up on Mugen.
As far as this news goes… hell, Japan’s not doing anything with it. Give it to somebody else.
If you want to stress over ignorance and call people stupid, the “u” isn’t actually silent…
Well I won’t hold my breath for anything, and it would be cool to get something new out of this, regardless of the outcome. I just hope they don’t start using the characters in other genres, like fighting zombies with Ryu or leveling up with Ken in an rpg.
;D
This immediately strikes me as bad news. I have always been a fan of the art of the Street Fighter Games, even if they do make another Street Fighter game it will never look as good as a Japanese one.
Thank you, Maj!!! It seems like everybody on this site just wants to bitch and complain–bunch of fucking haters!
This could be one the most stupid things I have ever read.
Street Fighter: The Movie Game part 2 anyone?
That would suck.
Sf4 instead of Bison it will be Bush .
This is completely unexpected news.
I guess we’d better not buy any Street Fighter related titles from this point forward. After all, if it’s not made in Japan, that absolutely means it sucks, right?
Of course not. But updating hitboxes and move properties is the only thing CapUSA has shown they’re good for. And nobody, save for a few tournament goers here and there, really cares. Now at this critical phase where even some hardcore players are getting turned off by CFJ, why should anyone just swallow up their next big project when it’s likely either going to be a rehash of an older series, or a game meshed together by talent that doesn’t even measure up to half that behind recent CapJP games that are different on all fronts?
That is the full extent of it right there. On paper, it was CapJP that created him. As soon as they finished Akuma, they gave him a background that retroactively changed Ryu’s to fit the whole SnH gimmick. They weren’t the first to make him pointlessly filler, but they probably didn’t want him as such anyway.
They did. He was named Evil Ryu in A3 when he could’ve been named something else. Fans might’ve contributed to that, but their say is not official.
When was the last time you heard news related to something you like that gave you doubts? Is it so wrong to have a certain level of expectation? Take for example, SvC. Nobody wanted that game to suck. People assumed that it’d be a funner, more faster paced CvS because it was being made by the ones who own KOF, Capcom’s only competition. In fact, it was hyped so much that it was even given its own General Strat forum on this site. It wasn’t until after they started playing it they realized how godawful it was. But the hype was still there. Everyone still anticipated it. All that stemmed from the fact it was SNK developing it. Compare them to CapUSA who haven’t done anything beyond tweaking SF2, and who has more expertise under their belt? You really think you can tell me that them owning SF is nothing to be concerned about?
If it read somewhere that Capcom’s actually going to put more time into game design/graphical development, and the game-testing responsibilities are now being left up to their US branch (which I admit sounds like the only way to go), then this news wouldn’t be bothersome in the slightest. But at the moment, what I’m hearing (or have heard) is that the right to SF is sold to a company that only excels at correction, not schema, the foundation for any game to be new or worth my attention.
:wow:
