Street Fighter IV BEST OF NOR CAL 2009/ FRIDAY 12- 04 - 2009 6:30 PM

Would it be okay if you told us how much of the venue money went to golfland for usage of their party room and resources?

The 3 on 3 sounds like it was a great success and congrats. Sucks to hear that there was no single elim though.

sorry man its hard to do something big when its just you running everything. i know i was late and i apologize but if someone can run brackets and help as judges as i asked things would of ran much easier. i didnt even know what was happening after i had a meeting with the MGL staff… i can only do so much… all my events are mostly with the help of the community. that venue money goes to that community. until i can invest some major money to make this into a business; most of what you see will be supported by the srk community. I dont own 20 xbox 360s or have 20 hd monitors but i try to bring what i can. I tried to bring my 70 inch tv… thats a $4,000 tv that im willing to bring. what if it fucked up? Im assed out $4,000. Plus i dont get jack shit out of it. but like i said i love street fighter and im just tryna make a positive impact. i mean you gotta learn from mistakes because everything cant be perfect…its been less than a year as a rookie hosting tournaments; i live and i learn. after playing street fighter for many years now, that alone should teach you that… it was a very hectic day and i was stressed as hell already…

im sorry for everyone who had a bad experience and i honestly wish i could make everyone happy but nothing is perfect and hopefully people can understand that… Its 4 am and i am still dedicating my time on srk to answer all questions. If that cant be respected then thats just fucked up…

i dont make $2000 a day i make it a month.

I had it on my sig a couple weeks back…

when you have at least $1000 ready to invest in a franchise PM me.

Sorry. I thought it was daily. I apologize.

The most fuck up thing about this whole thing is me ditching a flight to anaheim and chance to make a lot of money by saying fuck the community… and keep my commitment to show up at MGL and make no money and get accused yet again…

I wasn’t even supposed to be here today because i had to fly out this weekend for one of my businesses. I even told macarudy that.

However, i kept my commitment… Imagine how even more fucked up the event would be if I just left and had rudy handle the whole thing ALL BY HIMSELF. ITS SO FUNNY HOW WE ARE A “COMMUNITY” AND NO ONE CAN EVEN BOTHER CONTRIBUTING TO THE COMMUNITY BUT A FEW GOOD HEARTS. Like i said i am really sorry for not having the turnout most of you expected.

I am not going to keep doing this questioning every month. AND WHATS WRONG IF I GET REIMBURSED FOR MY GAS MONEY… I ALWAYS GIVE YOU GUYS FREE SHIT… MONEY, GIFT CARDS and WHERE DO YOU THINK THAT GOLD ENGRAVED TROPHY CAME FROM AS WELL? THAT SHIT COST MONEY DOESNT IT. AND WHOS MONEY? YET AGAIN FOR ANOTHER CONSECUTIVE MONTH, MINE. MY HARD EARNED MONEY.

I think you just need more setups and maybe spread them around the room more to reduce the crowding. And maybe think about the wording of your fees and stuff cause venue fee makes it sound like your giving it to golfland but then when it’s not erally going to them it makes you look bad.
I appreciate the effort going into trying to get stuff like this going but I think people just deserve a little more and if its not working out that day its prolly even better to cancel or delay the tourny for another day. Also, if your rellying on people to bring stuff you might want to have meetings a few days ahead of time to get everyone on the same page and maybe even collect the set ups and whatnot so you have them ready to be transported and set up at the venue.

I’m trying to be critical but also maybe give some suggestions so please take this as that and not negative.

im sorry like i said i just really had a horrible day to begin with…

I just feel like im doing to much and not being appreciated for what im doing… WHO ELSE FINDS SPOTS FOR YOU GUYS EVERY MONTH. I HAD 2 OTHER SPOTS LINED UP READY TO BE TOSSED TO YOU ALL… AND WHATS FUNNY ABOUT IT WAS ONE OF THEM WAS GOING TO BE A FREE MONEY TOURNAMENT… NO FEES TO PLAY JUST WIN FREE MONEY… I EVEN TOLD MACARUDY ABOUT THIS IDEA.

MAYBE I NEED A BREAK FROM ALL THIS… BECAUSE IM DOING TOO MUCH ON MY OWN AND DON’T DESERVE THE HARASSMENT.

AFTER JOLLIBEE AND MY LAST MARCH EVENT IM TAKING A BREAK FROM THE SCENE… MY GOAL WHEN I DEDICATED MY FREE TIME TO THE COMMUNITY WAS TO MAKE STREET FIGHTER BIGGER THAN IT EVER WAS BY UNITING THE COMMUNITY TO WORK TOGETHER. BUT IF THIS IS ALL I GET MONTH TO MONTH THAN FUCK IT. MY LIFE IS FINE THE WAY IT IS AND I DONT NEED ANYTHING TO THROW ME OFF.

dude i just tried to be constructive. I said i appreciated the effort I was trying to help from my neutral perspective. I didn’t even play but I observed and talked with people and that was what was told to me multiple times. A lot of people will post and just say this shit sucked or whatever but don’t try to give suggestions on improvment I was trying to not be that guy.

lol fucking wierdo

Fuck a tournament/venue fee, you didn’t pay shit for using the room at MGL… Why charge venue fee for a spot that charged you shit? Throwing money in the air to the crowd was insulting not only to me but to many others in the known community that you barely stepped into. I don’t give a fuck about your gas or whatever. When I threw tournaments at MGL I never I never once charged anyone venue fee for a venue that never charged me anything. Fuck gas, fuck equipment. This is a community effort STOP TRYING TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF THE FIGHTING GAME COMMUNITY BECAUSE OF STREET FIGHTER IV! YOU ARE DONE! in terms of MGL How dare you come to my home arcade running a tournament and make it look shitty like that. Stick to your Jollibee and whatever venues you’ve done in the past because I assure you will never turn a profit off of MGL ever again.

This nigga is NOT CPS certified… KEYSTONE II REAL TALK…

its all gravy man im just trippin and taking it to seriously… but whatever

check it out man. when i talked to mauricio i promised him money if i can have the room reserved 2 weeks after ncr so it would be a nice little follow up for the community… he said it was cool… (I EVEN HAVE THE EMAIL) Obviously, you didnt know that. then he talks to me about how the money works… i told him its for the SRK community and most of the money goes to the players. I even said you guys think they need better customer servicce… He even told me to show him what you all wrote on the forums… DUDE IM NoT TRYNA SCAM ANYONE…you can even ask him.

and the reason why i threw the money because I FELT BAD FOR BEING LATE. I PERSONALLY EXCHANGED MY OWN MONEY TO ONES AND GAVE IT TO YOU GUYS… im sorry if that offended anyone but i was just trying to give everyone money as a nice gesture . why are you guys always accusing me of foul play. i even joked around saying “this is not a scam” on the mic.

i only took home $20… like i said it was for gas and toll. You can even ask the people who brought things i gave them cash as promised. everything there was from other people… I only brought 1 xbox360. they even got more than me… dude all i want is to be recognized as doing something good.

If all you guys are skeptical about me handling money than i just wont do it. i just wanted to bring tournaments to the community and be the best at it. I dont want a bad image of myself portrayed to others. I have a lot of friends and none of them view me as a "swindler"or “scammer” only to a few in the SRK community. So please just let me know and ill step down from tournaments.

for the next jollibee tournament i was actually going to buy full sets of asus lagless monitors and xbox360s. I even Pmed John Choi what models evo uses so i would purchase the right ones. With all my tournaments combined do you think i made enough money to purchase all those monitors and xboxs?

look what other “swindler” or"scammer do you know does that?

People, the first post mentioned a venue fee for a** over month and a half ago**, so did all the fliers. It makes little sense to bitch about it or ask questions speculating shady shit when the tourney host mentioned it up front from day one. Even more so now it’s all over.

You should have asked him a month ago or at least some time before the tourney if you really wanted to know imo.

Anyway sucks some people didn’t have a good time. I purposely didn’t go because I knew, barring the use of a time machine, there was no way singles and the doubles tourney could finish when the posted start time was 6:30PM…

That and my shit don’t work any place that ain’t Xbox Live. :coffee:

Everyone its ok its just $5

Taxes come from everything and i guess SRK Events. If we break everything down we will find the smallest thing ($5)to complain about . The good thing is that we were informed about it in the beginning. So no fine print or hidden fees if you came then you read the post about the venue fee.:lovin:

He put some effort and planning into it so whats $5.

Everything that I would’ve liked to have said.

Throwing the money was highly offensive to me. I once owned an investment/brokerage firm with multi-millionaire investors, but even then I don’t think I would have had the gall to ever throw money at people and then saying, “see, this is not a scam!”

I thought the action by itself (EVEN IF THE FACT IS: YOU GENUINELY WANTED TO PROVIDE THE BEST TOURNAMENTS) was extremely poor in judgement. Had you not done that, I think the only thing we’d be bitching about right now is just about how horrible the event was run.

And please get out of here with your MLM/business opportunity shit. Keep your business separate from the community, that reeks of shady. Just based on the fact that you had that signature before was already making a lot of people notice you in a more negative sense.

You’re a fuck face. <3

Here’s the thing though. Just like I’ve told someone else before… it’s still a concern of where our money is going to specifically. For all I fucking care, he can keep all the venue fee money for himself to pocket, however, I’d rather it be really upfront with specifics.

If he had said, “we’re going to invest in TV’s, XBOX’s, etc.” or “I’m going to pocket this money because of the time and energy I put into this” then yeah. Whoever went would know wussup, but the whole “it’s for ‘equipment’ for future events” just seems a bit weird to me.

I still love you dawg <3

@Hiro

I’m mad at you bro </3

And $5 isn’t that much, I make way more money than that. And let’s not disregard facts… I have to be unbiased on this one. As much as everything reeks of shady to me, it’s still a fact that he did put some personal time and effort on this event. So on that one, I’ll have to agree with Hiro.

I lied about being mad. <3

Edit: On a personal note towards BLANKA707, everything anyone (including me) feels towards you is always subject matter to change. Currently you’re not in a positive spotlight, I can tell you that for damn sure. Does that mean we’ll feel the same way in the future? Maybe, maybe not. But don’t disregard some of the mistakes you made during the event (running the event horribly and your personal choices like throwing money) that made people feel the way they do about this. The fact that you organized this tournaments months ahead for it begin at 6:30 and you coming late because of personal things, doesn’t disregard the fact that you posted it would begin at 6:30. Yeah, some of us empathize and some of us don’t, but you DID have the time to plan ahead to make sure you’d be able to begin the event on schedule.

You think running 15 teams with 2 stations was hard? Trying having only 2 people running a 128 man bracket with 10 stations. This isn’t me trying to compare, but rather to put you into perspective. Vito and I ran the 3rd Fuddruckers bracket practically by ourselves, and still managed to begin on time and end on a decent note. This is because the people we worked with got on a conference call every week to discuss on how to gather and utilize our resources effectively

It was clear that this event lacked structure, time management, and logistics. You had a good intention of 4 stations, but 1 was laggy and I don’t know what’s up with the other. HOWEVER, even though you ran 2 stations, people were playing casuals and nobody really regulated for fools to get the fuck out of casuals, which also made this tournament last WAY WAY TOO LONG.

Don’t make excuses (not saying you are right now) but you need to acknowledge everything and put it into perspective.

If people can’t read the Evo flyers/ forum tournament stickies correctly, what makes you thinkg people are going to read a random tournament flyer correctly? (example: bring deoderant to evo) <----you know this didn’t happen.

Anyways. MGL is not a good venue to hold tournaments anymore. Did i say anymore? It never was. Its hard for me to admit that, just ask CPS. I tried to defend MGL as long as i could, but the management does not compromise for shit.

Every tournament CPS ran he had to try to no end to get the managment to agree. Thats stressful when they don’t understand for one english and how the community works.

Another thing is that the venue is too small for the SFIV crowds these days. This game is getting way more pull than any SF game I’ve experienced. If you are going to hold it at a venue this size you better plan ahead. If you can’t do it by yourself than ask for fucking help.

I personally went to the tournament with my daughter. I pictured an organized tournament in my head. I figured it would be comfortable for me and my daughter to watch. That was a hell no. I left before it even started because I was getting impatient.

I’M not knocking you Blanka707. But for some constructive criticism please be more prepared and ask for help.

I’m pretty sure someone in the community would love to help. We need new blood to run the tournament scene. Us old skool players have kids and full time jobs now. We hope you younger players could keep it going.

The problem is when you aren’t an honest person about where money goes why should people trust you. It is very disappointing that a person has to be secretive about money and then when confronted about it avoids the question for a few posts, then finally admits to pocketing it.

If you want to run a business be truthful. If you want to be a scammer that’s a whole new story. Good luck at future endeavors.

No longer thxyoutoo supported.

edit: for the sake of arguement - It was clearly stated that money was going to renting the room. Now we find that he did not pay for the room at all. He never changed this ever. My friends I ask you this, would you be friends with a man that lies to you in your face about your money? Would you trust a person like this for future events? There are enough organizers in the community delivering legitemate events for you to avoid shady tournaments. Please support trusted organizers and events. FUDDRUCKERS NEXT MONTH GET HYPE.

Blanka707 PM’d me for some input on the matter so here it is.

I do agree with the players that the venue fee is a bit excessive, especially if the venue rental was free. $5 per team entry and $5 per single player entry fee. However, all this was stated clearly before hand. The players have a choice to attend the event under these rules or not.

As such it is not fair to call Blanka707 a scammer. The tournament fees, no matter how excessive, was posted publicly months ago. This is not a scam. It would only be a scam if he posted he would only take $5 out for fees but really took $10. This is not the case here as he was honest about the payout.

And it is not fair to ask nor does he have to answer what he does with the money he is making. That is his personal business.

Now it is in your right to criticize him for showing up late and running a disorganized event. He posted there would be a singles event and people showed up with that expectation that he failed to live up to. But do not mistake lack of organization and preparation with unethical behavior.

Bottom line is you as a player have a choice to attend his events or not. He seems to lack organization but has been upfront about the money breakdown. So please stick to constructive criticism rather than attacks on personal character.
