Street Fighter In-Game English Script Scorecard Thread

And now the rest for Rolento:

Final battle vs Guy:

Guy: “What?! You again?”

Rolento: “I see you remember your supreme leader.”

Guy: “Well, I see you haven’t learned your lesson. Man, I hate a slow learner.”

Rolento: “Pity! Now I will have to rebuild my empire…ON YOUR FACE!”

Originally:

Guy: “Mm…! You’re the soldier from that time!”

Rolento: “You’d remembered eh? This beret, and also the terror of that time! I am the indomitable sovereign Rolento!”

Guy: “Seems that reflection is still insufficient doesn’t it…! I’ll deal with you once more, be ready!”

Rolento: “The sufficiently strongest are for my sake, and also for the sake of my sublimely becoming ideals, they become the cornerstone (ishizue)!!”

Better than any of the win quotes, but still an air of simplistic rudeness chosen overseas, even for Guy. Average score at best. Then:

Ending:

Rolento: “The time has come! Enough of this 'panty-waist politicking” ! This country needs a powerful militia! We need discipline, order, strength, power. I’ll make soldiers out of the whole, damn, lot of them!"

Rring… rrring…

Mayor: “Yes, what is it?”

Caller: “Mayor! The whole city is in an uproar!”

Mayor: “What happened?”

Caller: “A man named Rolent is terrorizing the city! He’s driving through the business district in a tank!”

Mayor: “What?!”

Rolento: “Listen up, you pencil pushing geeks! I will rebuild this country if you all follow me. I’ll make this country the strongest in the world!”

And originally:

Rolento: “What is an idealistic nation…I seem to have achieved the moment to express that answer haven’t I! Even with any kind of foreign enemy they won’t rise to the ultimate national defense… In this is mandatory matter for any and all national soldiers!! Soldier heads of the people!! National heads of the soldiers!!!”

Trrrr…Trrrr…

Mayor: “It’s me.”

Follower: <Mayor! An immense uproar is breaking out in the streets!>

Mayor: “What’s wrong?”

Follower: <A man calling himself Rolento, the actual leader himself, says he’s the next term national ruler… With an armored vehicle, he’s running around the city!!>

Mayor: “Wh, what did you say!?”

Rolento: “Everyone! Hear me out! I, the commander will push for this mushy country to be forged! Gather! Fight! This nation, let’s make into a realistic woorld!!”

And again only slightly better, at least Haggar’s skimpy lines were kept more or less intact. Now if it wasn’t for Rolento’s name-calling lingo in English, the conversion might’ve slightly hovered to an above-average score.

Next time, Sakura.

Okay good to go for Sakura, first the quotes:

“Do you have time for another beating before my next class?”

Probably a hint from this original quip:

“Ahhhh goosh you’re annoying! Can’t it be even a little energetic fiight!?”

Rude and bratty when she comes overseas unfortunately. Next:

“Victory is mine. Get up loser, so I can smack you again!”

Likely a poor wink towards this one:

“Wanna go again? Okay but, this time show me a new move will you.”

Ditto with her insolence in English. Next:

“Wow, that was cool, do it again!”

Most likely from this Japanese quote:

“Whoa…no waayy…”

At least this one tried to show some resemblance…finally,

“Now you know, justice always prevails!”

Probably taken from:

“Justice wins!!..whatever right!!”

An almost above-average conversion score. Then onto the:

Rival battle vs Sagat:

Sagat: “Those moves?! You know Ryu. Where is he?”

Sakura: “Say please!”

Sagat: “Out of my way, you insignificant gnat!”

Sakura: “You need a lesson in etiquette.”

Originally:

Sagat: “Girl! Where did you learn those moves? Do you know him?”

Sakura: “Huh? This is by seeing and copying… Who, Mister?”

Sagat: “I’m searching for the boy called Ryu…”

Sakura: “If that is so, Mister, won’t you go at it with me? Let’s street fight!”

And back to the typical Alpha angry brashness that’s unnatural of most fighters. Seriously, what was wrong with keeping Sagat proper and Sakura inquisitive? Apparently a lot…low conversion score.

Next time, the rest of Sakura.

Alright now the rest for Sakura:

Final battle vs Ryu:

Sakura: “I’ve been looking for you, Ryu.”

Ryu: “What do you want with me, little girl?”

Sakura: “Is that any way to talk? I’m your number one fan. That’s Ms. Little Girl to you!”

Originally:

Sakura: “Heheh, been searching for you all over!! I’ve finally tracked you down!”

Ryu: “? You…?”

Sakura: “I see you battle at one point…the street fight, has me addicted! I’ve practiced even sure killing techniques! Hey, battle with me!! I’m reasonably good from what I feel!”

And more of the brazen attitudes overseas. The fact that they both should’ve chilled a little more in English nets this set of lines an average conversion score at best. Then,

Ending:

Sakura: “Wait! Where are you going? I want to be stronger. I want to learn more. Please! Please teach me! Be my master!!!”

Ryu: “I’m still learning myself. I don’t have time for school girl games! You’re on your won. I’ve got to go.”

Sakura: “At least give me something to remember you by! (He took it easy on me, I just know it! What did he mean- ‘he is still learning’ ? I thought street fighting was just for fun. Maybe he knows the true meaning of ‘fight.’ I have to see him again to ask him.)”

Kei: “Good morning Sakura. Who’s that?”

Sakura: “My master, maybe?”

Kei: “What?! What do you mean?”

Sakura: “Forget it. We don’t have time. We’ll be late for school!”

Kei: “Hey! Wait for me!”

Sakura: “I’m going to need a crash course.”

And originally:

Sakura: “Um…wait! I, want to get stronger. I want to learn various moves…so, I implore you! Teach moves to me! Become my ‘master’ pleease!!”

Ryu: “…I’m the midst of training. I don’t even have what it takes to teach people! You will become stronger. With just your own power… I have to go already!..”

Sakura: “Then…then at least for remembrance!” (…that person…surely wasn’t going at me seriously was he… I can’t perhaps get what he said. …It seemed interesting from when I started but the street fight, what is it really? Battling…what is it really? One more time, I have to meet that person…meeting him, I’ll make sure!)

Friend: “Good morning, Sakura! …? Who’s? That person there…”

Sakura: “My… …‘wholehearted master’… …perhaps?”

Friend: “Heeh!? …hold it…what’s, that!!”

Sakura: “If we don’t hurry, we’ll be tardy!!”

Friend: “Wait uup!, Sakuraa!”

Sakura: (Alright…from today, it’s special lessons!!)

Much better than the previous dialogue, could’ve scored higher than above-average if Ryu wasn’t so belittling to her overseas and instead more encouraging as he is in Japanese, but I digress.

Next time, Evil Ryu…actually not, screw that, next time’s Cammy since Evil Ryu in Alpha 2 just recycled everything for Ryu in Alpha 2, so a big goose egg of a score for him, and so check out Ryu’s A2 section on the previous page of this thread for Evil Ryu. Therefore next time Cammy and the upcoming end for SFA2.

Nope, haven’t forgotten or abandoned this, just had a lot of things happen with personal life. Now then:

To Cammy, first the win quotes (overseas ones copied n’ pasted from A3 BTW):

“Target destroyed! Remaining in secondary combat mode!”

Probably taken from:

“Target completely silenced, alertness level 2 cancellation.”

Besides the extra emotion in English, the second half addresses two different conditions. Average score at best. Next:

“Data evaluated! Target exhibited zero capability. Terminating…”

Most likely hinted from:

“…Termination, of all sampling work schedules, estimated time enroute, +2.7 sec.”

Tries to be related but not as detailed as it ought to have been, below-average score. Next:

“Fighting data retrieved successfully!”

Possibly the closest counterpart is:

“…Pattern analysis end. Comprehensive fighting strength, C class and conclusion.”

Another low-scoring transition for the switch to utterly childish simplicity. Finally:

“Mission complete! Standing by for the next command!”

About the most related original quote was:

“Pulse normal…blood pressure normal… All merits as planned.”

Another below-average scoring for another yet related example. Then:

Rival battle vs Rose:

Rose: “I can feel it… Your confusion… Your anguish… You possess the Psycho Power. The antithesis of my Soul Power!”

Cammy: “There is nothing causing me anguish… Who are you…?”

Rose: “It doesn’t matter… It’s my fate to fight your boss. It’s time for your eternal slumber!”

Originally:

Rose: “I sense it…your hesitation, anguish… Psycho power is tormenting you… My, soul power’s enemy!”

Cammy: “I’m…not tormented or anything like that… What kind of person, are you…?”

Rose: “At any rate…I am the one with the fate to battle your boss. Now, awaken!”

Above average, why did Rose have to switch from saying psycho power’s tormenting Cammy to her possessing it is beyond me, plus the original Japanese having the desire for Cammy to awaken while overseas for her to sleep forever, sheesh.

Next time, hopefully even tomorrow, the rest for Cammy and the end of Alpha 2.

Okay the rest of Cammy, beginning with:

Final battle vs M. Bison:

Cammy: “Fighting… Winning… Everything else is secondary… I always believed that… Until now. Now I want to know who I am…and why I fight!”

M. Bison: “Hmph… You’ve exceeded our expectations. Learned beyond our capacity to control you… It’s time to reset you! I have no need for a free-thinker. I only need you to obey me!”

Originally:

Cammy: “To fight…to triumph. Worthlessness except for that… Until now such is what I believed. But, I want to know. The significance of the struggle…my true self!”

Vega: “Hmph…one who’s overdoing it with too much efficiency eh. Learning until it’s something too much… Once more, a reset is essential isn’t it. An ‘ego’ for you isn’t needed.”

Above-average, why did it have to divert in some areas from Vega to Bison who knows. Then:

Ending:

Cammy: “Yaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!”

Suddenly, Cammy is hit in the head by a bolt of electric current.
Bison stands up, with the gloating smile of matchless evil.

M. Bison: “Cammy…you were never meant to be this powerful. Time to use the Psycho Limiter we placed inside you…”

Everything is wrapped in a white light.
This meeting… Her recovered memories.
Cammy gets a new memory implant recovered
from the Shadaloo base, finally knowing
her true power as an assassin…

M. Bison: “This experiment has truly exceeded expectations! Begin M Project release preparations. Muhahaha!! She could destroy an entire country alone!”

And originally:

Cammy: “U…uaaaaaoh!!”

Suddenly, a seemingly sharp shock of electric current, made an assault within Cammy’s head. Vega loosens a tough smile, standing up.

Vega: “Cammy!.. You were possessing this much power, that was unforeseen. The psycho limiter will have taught you, when it comes to using it won’t it…”

Entirely, a pure white light goes spreading. Even recollection of encounters, even memories taken back. With Cammy recovering at the Shadoloo base, she accepts a fresh memory implant. As a precise yet powerful murder machine…

Vega: “The experiment body rose in results more than expected. Start with putting her into arrangements for the M project. Huhuhu…as for this one, she’s able to corner a whole country into destruction by herself…!”

Even closer and a higher score, a very tolerant language conversion.

Next time, going into Street Fighter Alpha 3 and more posts per character starting with Ryu.

Alright folks, onward to Alpha 3, starting with Ryu’s win quotes. First:

“One fight. One more step on the path to becoming a true warrior!”

Was originally:

“The path to the true fighter… Show it to me opening up!”

He speaks more encouragingly to his opponent in Japanese, but average score since both attempt to reach the same end through their means. Next:

“Whether we win or lose, all of our battles make us stronger!”

Originally:

“Let’s fight again. Mutually, we’ll become even stronger for sure.”

Again more encouraging in Japanese, but more similarities between the so above-average score for transition. Next:

“True victory is to give all of yourself, without regret.”

Originally:

“If you quit at one go, attempt it any number of times. It’s alright if that’s repeatable!”

This one didn’t fare well at all crossing the oceans. That both imply encouragement nets the quote a below-average score rather than lower. Next:

“Your strength is equal to that of your will to win!”

Originally:

“More! Come so your all strikes hard!”

The Japanese was more present and dynamic, while the English became more future and philosophical. Still much divergence in the conversion. Average to below-average. Next:

“Sometimes the most important battle, is the battle within…”

Originally:

“Forge the body, refine the heart. Seems simple but must not be forgotten.”

Sheesh, what an over-simplification overseas. Below-average score is a generous one. Next:

“I see a strong will to fight in your eyes! Don’t give up yet!”

Originally:

“Giving up?..? Still, your eye’s with the essence of battle.”

Better than the previous one. Ryu becomes more pressing in English though. Average to maybe above-average. Next:

“Whatever you find worthwhile in life, is worth fighting for!”

Originally:

“To accumulate it over 10 years, but to lose it in an instant.”

Total disconnection, not to mention a complete absence of a historical reference for Ryu in Japanese, verge of a goose egg score. Next:

“The only way a true fighter can suffer, is by not fighting!”

Originally:

“For the journey still…has just begun.”

Ugh, another practically total loss, another near zero.

Next time, more Ryu.
