lol more people play dota2 and WoW than arcade games here, so many internet cafes…i’m a student and a teacher, when i asked my students if they knew what tekken was not a single person could answer, but even the girls knew wtf dota2 was…
That’s what I get here in Qingdao too. All the students know is WoW, Starcraft, DOTA, and LOL.
I had one student who was big on Tekken and SF and KOF, then he changed schools.
I think all the arcades in Chengyang district closed. But then all they ever populated them with were those button mashing gambling machines, so no great loss there.
Keep wanting to make time to go to Wanda again, haven’t yet.

I have a question…Which would be better (network wise) in china? xbl or psn cause ps3 is alot cheaper here even the arcade sticks (good ones) are usualy cheaper, but I dont want to have shit connection and can’t play anyone…i’m buying it for umvc3, but i’ll also get TTT2 in order to practice up on the console version, i’ll be going to CEO next year in florida and dont want to go being 1 year behind everyone in play…
either way i won’t be getting either until i get this second job
Regardless of what system you use, online is probably going to suck in China. Playing people in your city can be ok, but beyond that, the net infrastructure here doesn’t work great for fighting games.
I’ve actually had my PS3 crash when trying to connect to people in Shanghai.
well thats discouraging…ah well guess i’ll just get the ps3 since arcade sticks for it are generally cheaper and they arent region locked for games…
Honestly it depends on the game.
I can play with people from HK (i m from Jinhua (near Hangzhou)) on SFxT, I can play ppl in Tianjin on KOF13, I can play ppl in Shenzhen with KOF12… damn, i can also play ppl in Germany or US on Rage and Nba Jam lol
And i have just a 4MB… in China u have 2 companies 电信 and 网通, if you are the first you cant connect with the second, if you are the second you cant connect with the first.
As far as I know, ppl in the south use 电信, ppl from the north use 网通…but still, it depends (i m on ps3)
Honestly I have no clue what my net is (I live in a dorm) but I do know that online would probably be impossible during the day time for me. The net is just horrible, but after midnight I get down speed of 2-5MB depending on the day of the week. Anyway I was getting it to practice up in Marvel, so i doubt theres too many people online playing marvel in China anyway (I return back to america right before CEO2013 so i want to stay in practice with marvel)…but i also plan on getting TTT2, which i know a few people in my city that have it for ps3 so, i could always play them I guess…anyway i’m just going to get the ps3 because i dont see a reason to pay for xbl if its still going to be asswater lol
Its strange here. It seems like a lot more chinese have ps3s, but it seems qingdaoren have mostly 360s, that are unmodded and use xbl.
Or that’s what one guy here told me at the arcade before.

missing person i see u ve PSN, do u play SFxT or KOF13/12?
I have a PSN but no longer have a PS3.
I want one though, not sure how much one would set me back here (both in kuai and blood that my wife would exact for buying more gaming equipment.)
I don’t play SFxT or KOF. I want to try out 13 though.

ps3 is around 1300-1600 depending on where you buy it and where it comes from
hey guys im in beijing for the weekend.
ran down to dongzhimen earlier for sf4 as per the thread, but only found one old/small arcade down the stairs outside ginza mall 银座mall.
is that the one u guys are talking about? cos its crappy as hell!
where should i be going tomorrow night! please advise!
Give the xidan arcade a shot. It’s info is in the first page.
Xidan is probably your best bet. Dongzhimen has good comp but how often it’s actually there seems to be a bit of a crapshoot. Xizhimen has closed its doors (according to Rod) and Shuangjing is basically dead.
Again, anybody here plays KOF12/13, SFXT on psn?
I m down also for other kind of games such as Lara Croft Guardian of light, Nba Jam, Turtles in time, Bomberman,Dead Nation… my psn is: fiol1985
I ve 4mb (电信) but i dont have problems to play with ppl in north china… damn, i can even play HK on sfxt!
Any challengers?
So, some good news and bad news:
Good news: We have a new 55" TV at 华清嘉园 and the input lag (with game mode on) is pretty good, so I can host again.
Bad news: Going home for xmas! Won’t be able to do so until 16/1.
guys, i got SF4 Vanilla on my pc… i can play online with that (my pc cant run SSF4AE…)… anybody still play that?
Hey there!
I’m going to be studying abroad in Beijing next semester, February to June. I’m interested in what arcade/fighting game scenes are in/near Beijing. Anyone able to help out with some up-to-date information?
Shuangjing and Dongzhimen are largely ghost towns from what I understand now. Xizhimen closed down. Xidan is probably your best place to look for comp for SF4. I don’t play Tekken, so I’m not sure about that.
Look us up when you get into town.
I discovered today that Wuhan has waaay more arcades then I was told originally unfortunately…most suck and nobody goes to them…i went into 4 random arcades today completely empty…i went to the good expensive arcade it was full of people…i cant even play tekken anymore though the arcade near my school, all teh buttons on the Cab are messed up…we finally upgraded to AE2012 though and they raised the price of the game -.-;;; anyway i’m just ranting…wuhan is full of arcades but most are empty buildings with cabs in them that nobody touches…seems the 网吧 is taking over
