Street Fighter in Beijing?

Haha if I somehow got to play Marvel here, I might be able to show you some tricks. I don’t use Wolverine or Phoenix, but I have some good tricks with Deadpool, Wesker, and Dorm.

I’d like to say I’m pretty good at Marvel. I’ve only been to one tournament a really long time ago and I got beat only by the big name people so I’m like at an intermediate level probably. I’m looking up tutorials right now lol. I’ll probably check out both arcades since both Xizhimen and Xidan are really close to me. I’ll probably check out the arcades sometime over the weekend/next week. I’ll post back when I plan on going. Thanks!

Shucks I was really hoping to see some phoenix action - that stuff looks wild. I also play wesker although not so far past the f+H TELEPORT WITH MAD ASSIST ACTION/air throw not too air throw resets sorta stuff so…lol yeah. We have sessions periodically and we’re all equipped to play so sure, we gotta throw down sometime soon!

Chicken: Did you bring a console to China with you?

I dabble in Marvel, I’m not amazing, but I would love to throw down with someone when I get to Qingdao.

Where are these sessions? Maybe I could come one time?

I didn’t bring a console, games, or a stick with me. I was advised to pack lightly so I left all of that stuff at home

Is Qingdao in Beijing?

by all means, inner turmoil has reduced my ability to host them but yeah like I said, one of our more responsible members can get you in the loop

Qingdao is not in Beijing, that’s why I was asking about a console, I was praying for a 360 user with Live so we could matchup online, since I’m not near you guys. Le sigh.

Oh well. I don’t even know where Qingdao is in relationship to Beijing.

EDIT: Just read it’s like a 5 hour ride on the bullet train.

@chickensandwich Glad to hear from another laowai FG player! I play MvC3 for fun mostly but I really enjoy it! I’m down for playing any FG really (Tekken not withstanding unless I really have to). We usually have casuals at someone’s home (my own, Raas and Starcade’s). I will PM you directions and my cell phone number. Pass me and Starcade your cell phone number so we can keep you in the loop for any activities. Welcome to the crew!

@Raas I’ve been labeled “The Responsible One”? Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh sh…

@Missing Person If you could get a PS3 that would be your best bet at getting some online play with us. Kinda sucks you are not that close. :frowning:

Xizhimen arcade is having an AE tourney this Friday at 6:30. Anybody wanna go? I’ll probably rock my Yang! haha

I know, but I’m actually stoked about getting to Qingdao now. I may try getting a PS3 when I get to China. How much of a pain will it be to do so?

I can’t really do so in Korea right now.

Voice chatting on PSN is done via bluetooth right? If so, I’m set, as both me and my wife-to-be have bluetooth earpieces now.

Go ahead and add my Japanese PSN account just in case, that will be the one I use, unless I sign up for a korean one that I like better. Account is IQitFOR24.

My American one is LanierIsPlusEV, but I would be using that for purchases only, most likely.

Thanks! I PM’d you!

Oh, I forgot to answer you question Missing Person, consoles are everywhere here. You don’t have to worry about getting one shipped to you.

Sweet, then that’s a load off. Thanks Starcade.

I’m guessing PS3 games are also readily available as well?

I buy my games off taobao (China’s ebay). They are usually dirt cheap if you are going for Asian versions of games but you can find US/EU/Jap versions as well. I am not really familiar with physical stores.

Yeah, you can get most anything you need/want here game wise. If you really need game from a different region, you can order them online. I usually pick up the new versions of SF4 from playasia just to make DLC easier.

I’m sure Qingdao has a video game district or two. There are a number of brick and mortar places around Beijing that sell virtually everything. I even saw old neo geo systems in one place.

Nice. Not going to be picky, and I really only ever buy fighting games, so my next physical purchase will be either SFxT or SC5, whichever comes out first. Don’t know of anything else coming out that I would end up buying.

@ Starcade’s Ninja post: Very very nice. I’m also thinking of bringing older systems (SNES, PS2). I think that’s all I’m bringing, and I’m well aware of the fact that I’ll need a transformer to run them.

I suppose I could buy a knockoff SNES cheap there, but I really don’t want to. I like using 1st party hardware.

Anyone hitting the tourney today? Or know when it starts for that matter? I figure its around 6 so I’ll probably go check it out around that time.

Tourney starts at 6:30. I stayed at home today to give my back a rest and got a crap load of work to do so I’ll have to pass this time.

I just noticed this morning that somebody forgot their sunglasses

Welp, I’m off to the airport in a couple of hours. Odd to think it’s been two weeks shy of a year since I first got lost trying to get to Yannis’s for a session, and all that. It’s been a great year, thoroughly enjoyable. Like with my Chinese I feel like I probably could have improved a lot more than I ended up doing, but that’s more on my side of things, as you guys have been nothing but great as both friends and teachers! You all helped this be a much more fun, much more bizarre and very frequently much tastier year, and I hope to return to the city as soon as I possibly can.

Sappiness aside, the only sunglasses I remember from session were the ones I put on before being crushed in Rod’s furious revenge, so don’t think they’re mine. Peace out!

Meeeemoriesssss, nothinggg more thannn memoriesssss

So we say farewell to Pwm, the last of the new age 32 crew, I think I feel a tear in my eye. Its been a joy Twm, I can’t see myself hitting Europe right now, but now I guess I kinda have too. I wonder what the payout of the chinese lottery is nowadays. I can’t belive its been a year, its just crazy honestly - I wake up today in a haze and wonder where the time we- oh. OH. Ohhhhhhhh.

Anyway keep yourself safe Diddleh, keep in touch Baaaaa, and definitely definitely give us a ring if you’re in town and vice versa. Adios Tom.

It’s been great fun, Tom! Time flies so fast when you are having fun, I guess. I’ll definitely be giving you a ring if I’m ever in the UK. Thanks for being a part of the crew and don’t forget to always put on shades! Looking forward to having you back any time, brother.
