Does anyone know, or would be able to find out, about prices on smartphones in China? Looking for a really solid Android phone or an iPhone. My wife may be bringing her Galaxy S from Korea, so we may only need to buy mine in China (I have a Verizon Droid 2, which AFAIK, doesn’t work in China, and even if it did, I didn’t shell out for the global one with the SIM card, so they couldn’t activate it anyway). I’m planning on giving my mom my Droid, and would like to have a smartphone in China to stay in touch better with friends and family back home.
But my wife is still up in the air about whether she wants to get rid of her Galaxy S and buy one there, because it’s going to cost her like $600 to cancel her contract with SK Telecom, so she may give it to someone else as well. Her mom won’t take it, sadly, we already tried.
But anyway, yeah, if people know about smartphone prices, let me know. Even better if you knew what an average smartphone bill costs.
I got my HTC Wildfire about a year ago for less than 2000 RMB. It’s a midrange solid phone. Prices for Androids are pretty good depending on where you are shopping at. I got mine from a grey market place. IPhones can be found at similar to US prices.
Nice. I think my wife is keeping her Galaxy, and getting it activated in China, but I’m not sure. I’ll ask. I saw China Unicom has a contract for a free iPhone 4 if you sign up for two years of service. I might look into that, but it depends honestly on how much of a setback it would be for early cancellation if our work contract isn’t extended for two years.
