Street Fighter in Beijing?

Hi guys! I’m flying into Beijing from Hong Kong for a few days tomorrow and I’d like to drop by and check out an arcade while I’m there. (Despite my lack of SF abilities).

I’ll be staying in this hotel: http://www.radissonblu.com/hotel-beijing/contact so can someone let me know which arcade is closest and how to get there? I’ve never been to Beijing before but I have a friend who lives there and can help locate things for me. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Emily. The closest arcades to you that I’m aware of are at Xidan and Wangfujing. Both locations are pretty big shopping/tourist places with major subway stops. The xidan subway stop has a exit that goes directly into the 77th street market, which is an underground mall with an arcade. If you take the wrong exit, look for the starbucks. The entrance to the mall is right across the street.

Wangfujing has one too, but none of us really go there. I can’t easily give you directions.

Shuangjing is probably the closest arcade to you (details are on the first post for the main Beijing arcades at Xizhimen, Xidan and Shuangjing), since it’s also on the east side of the city. All three are very close to subway stations, so shouldn’t be too hard to get to.

EDIT: 32, I see age has slowed you down not a jot. I was thinking beisanhuan donglu would be closer to Shuangjing than Xidan since the latter’s in the west side, but I guess if it’s not as far south it could be closer. Wangfujing’d be the closest to her though, ya.

Anyone playing tomorrow on Saturday?

I was at Xidan arcade tonight so tomorrow’s a no-go for me. :frowning:

For Sunday’s tourney I have registered Majid so him and Matthew can team up. Rick and I are teaming up. We all need to be there 1:00 pm and the tourney will start an hour later. See you guys there!

anyone in beijing interested for some sf4 today?

I was actually curious if we were doing casuals at someones place today. Was hoping to get some practice in before Sunday.

Thanks for your help guys! I’m going to try to check out the Xidan arcade tonight after wandering around some of the night markets. If you happen to be there, I’m the girl in the black and white sundress so please come and say hi. =)

mat where the hell are you ,im in room 822 hit me whenever you for our training for tomorrows tournament

Out of pure curiosity and only, room of what?

my room in the university.

and yup this is end for me no more arcade ,as i am a salty person ,i hate to play on shitty lag screen, loose sticks and bad matchups,im done with super and AE and play only third strike from now on.

talk about used to play on laggy screen,in SBO against frame hit confirming clutch players what will they do?what will they do?i wonder…

Not for same reasons, but I’m pretty disillusioned with SF right now. After watching the SBO qual finals and the Daigo sweep of America I just can’t get past how insano the twins and (for me) fei are. I guess with KOF13 hacked…dot dot dot

@abdelmajidtolba I don’t know where you saw laggy screens, bro. Personally I have been playing in all the arcades here just fine.

@Raas Hasn’t it pretty much always been that way with fighters, man? A set of top tier characters wrecking house? I’m genuinely asking, by the way, because I’m not very experienced with tournament play and all I read about most FG’s (especially SF) on forums and stuff is how imbalanced they are. 3rd strike, for instance, is all about Chun, Yun and Ken(?). It is indeed true, though, that Yun is dominating in most majors right now and it’s getting kinda boring. How did the qualifier finals play out btw?

Feels kinda weird to complain about bad matchups and move to 3S. I have a soft spot for the game but it is one of the wrost balanced fighters I’ve ever played. I mean, look at the tier list. For Yun/Chun I’ve never seen so many 7/3 and 8/2 matchups in my life. I think it is pretty safe to say that the top 3 in AE are nowhere near as bad as the top tier in 3S.

As for the KOF 13 good luck with the hack. Runs paintfully slow on my PC. And I was so looking forward to it too.

I’d ask where you guys are getting it from but seeing as leaked BBCS did not run on neither my desktop nor my laptop, it’s pretty safe to say that KOFXIII won’t run either. I’m down for playing when the console version comes out, though. Looking forward to it.

Edit: Actually, it’s only 1+ GB so I might as well give it a shot.

Even playing in lag felt great. It’s like coming home. Gotta admit it felt far more comfortable playing KOF than SF. Though part of that might be the fact I was using a controler…

I dunno how much we can say about things like KOF, presumably none of what we just did, but I’ll say this: if someone has another working stick - magic can happen at my place. Innuendo totally intended.

Totally.

TOTALLY. O_O

Seriously tho, as for SSF4 I just see it as a massive grind to beat yun and yang. Chun/Ken(?)/Yun and I’d also throw in Makoto[I’d also suggest dudley/yang/akuma/urien with honorable mentions to ibuki/ryu/oro] I’d say at least had varient play styles, not just mash against your guard until you get raped 30 seconds later. I admit mixup is designed to annoy the other guy, but its just so in his favor its hard to even get a read out. The finals played out as a one note ass whoopin’. The reason why 3s is never QUITE given the same hatred is because of parry. Its entertaining and requires a level of talent or a good read or SOMEthing. Yes it’s not an equalizer, 10 great parries by a sean will still get him very dead, but at least its there. There’s always the option. They can’t just mash the same shit over and over. The dmg is also MASSIVE so even tho a match can be really one sided, there’s still something to wait for. Try Bison v Yun and see how that feels. I also feel vaguely the same way about MVC3 but none of us are good enough to truly abuse it so it sits relatively comfortably right now.

Well I don’t have a stick but I do have a ps2-pc adapter and a controller and that is enough for me. So if you’re ever up to make some KOF magic just say and I’ll be over in a jiffy.

Edit: I can also use controller for anything so I’m good whenever

i dont think so ,those so called tiers list in third strike are viable only if there is no parry system.
in AE we have cheap damage ,in 3s you can avoid it,with that being said ,if no one feel the lag in arcade ,all i can say is you serious latence problem,i mean 1 frame combo are almost impossible in chinese arcade, except for button mashers, even plinkers do sometimes have problem.and when started to check in local arcades manufacturers i understood why, most of these screen if not all have a response of 5ms,im not a god in street fighter but i know that ibuki tsumiji cannot be done on these circumstances, also there a huge difference between ps3 timing and arcade.
if i recall correctly in yanis place we were playing on 42’’ right?
jason’s place also in 32’’ or 42’’,yanis i think youve been playing with lag all this time without knowing so…

enough with the bitching,im being salty only because of this frigging lag which i hate, guess SD and monitor do not have it,what a bliss…
anyway good bye 3d street fighter and welcome 2d fighters…

Oh yanis the leaked BBCS works fine on my pc,although its Core 2 quad 4gb memory

So I downloaded and installed. The game runs but it is slow. I haven’t had time to try it out on my Win XP partition though so I’ll check it out after work.

@Raas Are you referring to XIII or another KOF? If you have a working KOF XIII I’m down anytime to check it out. I’m kinda excited to play this game. MvC3 I have to agree has some shortcomings that make it annoying. Phoenix seems to be a hot topic right now in the competitive scene but I’m reserving judgement until after EVO. In my frame of mind, it is a fun game for us to kick back with during our sessions. I’m looking forward to getting 3rd Strike OE so I can finally get into that game and judge for myself. It’s very possible that, at the end of the day, we are probably feeling burnt out so a change of scenery (read: game) is in order.

@adbelmajidtolba All I know is that the things I can do at home I can apply them at the arcade. Maybe I need a couple of matches to adjust but that can be any number of things (sitting posture, screen size, noise, etc.). I do not believe in blaming the equipment before I blame myself and since I still have a long way to go with fighters, the only thing I want to take into consideration after my loss is what I did wrong. Because I’m not a technical specialist, and we all have our own opinions and beliefs, I’ll just stop here on this subject.
