He uses the term re-balance but a quick glance at the game from anyone who knows anything about 3S would be enough to notice that this is far from an actual attempt at balancing the game, but at the same time you can tell that the additions would make it interesting and fun to play… Think SF2 Koryu but less extreme.

I don’t see the point in this. Once the novelty of doing different supers/links combos orwhatever wears off, then it’s nothing but a broken turd version of the original Third Strike. Definitely not a rebalance.
Actually what would be better than a rebalance. Is keeping the core gameplay mechanics the same. But adding/changing the aesthetics.more stages if possible, shin akuma and Gill stages. Maybe include a level select if you can do that. Unlock or include all the character colors that you get in the console version of third Strike. add more soundtracks. That would make a 3S rom which is definitely worth using for practice/competitive play.

I dunno, unless there’s express statements from the creator of this hack saying this was intended to be a serious competitive answer to 3S’s balance issues, I don’t see the point in treating it as such.
As a romhack on the mechanical level, it seems to be pretty damn coherent. Nobody flying off into space or getting frozen in weird ways after attempting numerous forms of combos incorporating dozens of different character states. As a gameplay experience, well, it looks good for a laugh.
Like pretty much any comparable romhack (KOF 98 combo comes to mind) there’s some good ideas flying around in there, but there’s also plenty of stuff that seems excessively silly, if not excessively broken on top of that.
Stuff I thought was good:
- Sean roll xx free throw. Admittedly pretty sweet, looks mostly harmless.
- Q being able to cancel special moves into Total Destruction moves.
- Remy’s command throw super.
- Elena’s target combo into launching throw. Looks dumb, but I like it, and it’s not like it opens up anything excessively powerful relative to meter/positioning.
Stuff that I thought was pretty dumb:
- Urien’s 2-hit tackle. Not so much dumb because it dumbs down tackle loop execution but because it gives him a ridiculously easy corner carry no matter where he lands it. Land c. HP, do 1st tackle, make a sandwich, come back, do 2nd tackle, end juggle with whatever the fuck you have the meter to do. Who needs to cancel into Aegis mid-screen and actually gamble on a mixup when you can just run the motherfucker into the endzone without spending any meter and rape him with corner Aegis for free?
- Chun-Li EX Kikoken wallbounce. Would be a lot cooler if she wasn’t already entirely too good all-around in 3S. Random wallbounce shit with a non-hit-confirm-to-death super like SA1/SA3? It’s funny as hell. With the option of reset/air knockdown into SA2 mixups, and a wall of nasty pokes to defend the ensuing life lead? All of a sudden that joke gets a lot less funny.
- Hugo chain combos. He was fine with the jab target chain, does he really need to be able to turn every jab into an EX Lariat combo? He has plenty of ways to cover his ass with parry -> command throw, does he really need to be a hit-confirm monster?
- Q X-copy V-ism. Talk about excessive. Mind you, he probably couldn’t pull off the shit he did as X-Copied Dudley in every matchup, but being able to go into barely-scaled beast mode and grind Dudley into paste way worse than Yun ever could goes beyond overkill.
All in all, it may not be competitive but it looks fairly well put-together.

Well this would be cool if they do some things first.
-Blow everyones health up by 4-5x or reduce damage by 1/3.
-Decrease the juggle limit in the engine to 4 or 3 instead of 8
-increase everyone’s bar by 25% or more
-decrease parry frame window to 6 frames
-0 frame startup for grabs
-no whiffing to build meter
-increase stun bar by 2-3 times
-add a push block
-speed up elena’s SA3
-fix remy’s counter SA3
-speed up the game overall(mostly speed up the velocity in which most attacks travel across the screen like slow ass fireballs and tatsu’s. A lot of moves can be sight parried because they just travel to damn slow.)
-add a wavedash,extended dash or pivoting feature to help with the speed of the game.
-add a guard break meter(yay take that turtlers)
-remove s akuma,gill,unused hugo and patch over them with hacked sprites/code

Anyway, it looks like this is a game just for fun, and obviously I don’t have much love for 3S, so it won’t bother me if people are just playing it for shits and giggles and to troll the actual 3S community.

There is a such thing as a broken fighting game that people still enjoy. There are even fighting games that are enjoyable because of the brokenness.
Yeah, he should change his wording. Don’t forget that it is in the beta phase though. Some of what we saw could already have been on the chopping board.
