Still not feeling Chamba’s style at all. It looks like it was drawn in 5 minutes, then he uses the coloring to try and compensate (not saying that that’s how it happens, but it does look like it). UDON never had the most detailed backgrounds, but Chamba’s have ***less ***than the usual from UDON. The only actual background i can think of is the bridge in the Ken page.
Chamba reminds me of Joshua Middleton… but Middleton actually draws backgrounds and (even with a very simplistic art), had more detail than this.
Chamba needs to put some more detail, hire an inker *and *a background artist (since it seems he won’t do it himself). He needs it badly.
I got the comic and gotta say its pretty good. if i wanted this to be a cartoon, i’d have chamba be art designer. i would go in more detail if i’m allowed in this thread.
LOL use a spoiler tag if you want to, it’s still the first day and all.

Oh snap it was good whoa…
You can quote this post too to see how I did the above as well. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle. STREET FIGHTER G.I. JOE TOOOOOYS! :nunchuck:
[details=Spoiler] In this issue the tournament is underway and T.hawk is fighting cammy in one of the semi-final matches. T.hawk is puzzled by cammy’s new alliance, but try his best only to lose. We’re then taken back one month ago as Chun-li is in a meeting with her supervisor who has reservations. She reassures him on the mission that its the only chance in getting Bison. The same for Guile in his office, with resolve of steel, makes a promise that if he doesn’t take Bison down there he gets a desks job.
Eliza and Julia has an ultrasound examination while ken trains on the golden gate bridge. Later in Alsaka, Ryu fights in a fight club called the “Pit Bull Pub” (Palin joke) and beatdown everyone. One of his victims had the tournament invitation on him Ryu decided “It’s time to defend my title.”
Balrog is released from prison and rejoined the four Kings.
Surprise! Surprise! Akuma follows ryu to his hut in alaska. Could they have their final match there? Probably.
the art is great, like a cartoon, and the fight was short but i liked the story more.
Next Issue!
Cammy kills W. Bush! Ken fights Ryu! And Bison uses the psycho drive full-blast as he laughs manically!
Next year! Street fighterIV Series coming atcha hard!:wgrin: [/details]
The funniest part was when Vega said they were one big happy family. I laughed. I really enjoy Chamba’s art. It really is like an animation cell or something. And Omar’s cover for SF Legends Chun Li was kickin! Hideous pun intended.
The book is a good setup so far, not as much action as I was hoping (most of it was in the previews I’ve seen already) but obviously a story needs to be set up.
The comic looks good. I think the coloring could be a little better but even with a coat of paint I can tell the pencils are amazing. The exaggerated perspectives remind me of the SFA3 win artwork, just without the outlines.
Looking forward to the next issue. If it comes out on time I will be so happy.
Really nice start! I like that guy Ryu gave a Shoryuken too, nice design!
Oh hey one of the comic book shops near me, Forbidden Planet has their own weekly mini newspaper. Check out what Unkiedev had to say about the first issue!
“When I’m not strung out on Monsters (Earlier in the article he was talking Superman and Batman vs. Vampires and Werewolves along with Monster Sized Hulk - Sano) I like to sublimate my delirium with one of my other addictions: Street Fighter! I believe Capcom to have the finest character designs on the planet. Combine said brilliance with the simple premise of globe traveling street fighters ready to punch each other into next week for honor, cash and complex back stories and you have a recipe for “Awesome Stew,” even before you add in compelling gameplay. The Street Fighter comic books from Udon studios DELIVER! They’re often my favorite book of the week…and I’ll tell you why: It always has great, iconic and bright art. Vivid colors and explosive action…It looks how a Spider-Man book SHOULD but never does. They pack every page with story and fights…often two to three fights per book. Many mainstream books don’t always give you the goods like that. I can recall some piss poor issues of Ghost Rider with ole’ Flamehead sitting around pouting. There is NO pouting in a Street Fighter comic! FIGHT!”
Thanks. I figured that I would have been covered cause I had street fighter on my pull list, but I don’t know what happened. I think he offered to order it but I was in a hurry. I’ll call them tomorrow.
