Street Fighter goes LIVE

But you aren’t supporting them Mr. Hawking, support = money.

And just because Microsoft stole ideas before anyone else doesnt mean someone else wouldn’t have done it:rolleyes:

Online play has never really been my thing and its not just lag that puts me off.

But this sounds tempting, but I would like to test it out before I go fork out the cash to get xbox with live.

Yeah, I guess you’re supporting MS even if you didn’t buy Windows, You probably paid $100 over the odds when you first got your computer (the shops automatically charge you for the preinstalled OS).

And even if you built it form scratch, the fact that you are contributing to the 90% Windows userbase is still “support”.

They aren’t responsible for the power of computers! You think the military use Windows? Nasa? How about hospitals? The advertising/publishing industry? The music industry? The movie industry? Not a chance. None of them do. Only saddos in offices use Windows, where it doesn’t matter that much.

Anyway, I guess without so much crashing/rebooting/upgrading, then those business “efficiency gains” might have been even higher.

man, whatcha talking about microsoft is evil. after 3 months, Windows XP cancle my microsoft works which in that case, i cant use excel or word processor ever agan until i buy the software. and you know how expensive the freakin software cost jsut for microsoft works:mad: the hell with it, ill just go back to win98:cool:

I pity those of you who ignore facts and believe the media.

Microsoft is not evil. Microsoft is not there to take over the world, It’s not there to conquor your territory.

So what if microsoft is rich? In this world, there will always be a higher spot and a lower spot. That’s how it works. Remember rome? would you hate rome just because it was popular?

You hate microsoft for no reason at all, maybe the old windows, but now… what exactly have they done wrong? if you hate something you can usually alternate and you’re never ever obligated to use anything that is microsoft.

It’s very sad when paranoia takes over pleasure. Do yourself a favor, buy an xbox if you don’t have one and want to play online 2d fighters, if not, then don’t. It’s not like you have to.

What exactly are you people whining about? Seriously, if you know you’ll spend countless amounts of time playing these games online, money has no value.

I’ve spent 39$ USD on unreal tournament 2004… to me that’s alot since I get paid 9$ an hour canadian and live alone… but does it matter? no… i’m positive i’ll play this until the game dies.

Think about it this way… 10$ for 1-2 hours of entertainement in numerous places…

29$ + 149$ + 49$ = 227$

227$\10$ = 22.7

22.7 or 45.4 hours of entertainment value that will last for years.

If you still don’t get it, count how many times you go see movies in a year, then count how much xbox is worth and how much value you’re getting out of it.

Ya… I’ll spend the money where it lasts.

Thank you very much, but instead of whining here about not being able to eat a few bigmacs for a month, I’ll be playing guilty gear x2 online.

It’s evil because:
[]They use dubious and unfair tactics to drive their competitors out of business (here, I’m talking about both operating systems, and also about other software aps). I guess it’s too bad if you make a living working for the rival software company that just went bankrupt, huh?
[
]This means that there is little or no competition with software, meaning that prices can be set as high as they want without fear of losing customers. It’s getting to the stage where software costs more than the computer. And does any company really need that much money?
[]Also, quality can drop as low as they want, because there isn’t any pressure/competition to do better. It’ll sell regardless.
[
]With such an unrivaled monopoly, innovation and rate of progess is low, which in turn harms computer users.
And yeah, they do actively seek to conquer and dominate in new areas (even areas where they have no experience and are clearly inferior: see browsers, IM, gaming, mail software, compilers, mediaplayers, etc.)

All we’ve succeeded in doing is enlarging the thread by a page of off topic nonsense.

From what’s available xbox is it in terms of legal online fighting games, so i don’t see why there is a debate. My stance is that i can’t wait for these games to start coming out so we can get our leagues together.

It’s called “business”. Believe it or not, this is exactly what every company in the world is trying to do. Microsoft is just the one that’s doing it right now.

Do you think Burger King likes the fact that McDonalds’ is in business? If they could monopolize the fast food market, and push up prices, they would. Have you ever shopped at Wal-Mart? They make Microsoft look like saints, but who cares? It’s business.

If you don’t like Microsoft, buy a damn Mac. I have one, I like it much more than any PC. You do have options. Sitting in your room throwing darts at your Bill Gates dartboard isn’t gonna do anything.

And you know what? All of that is called business. Shut up.

^ Yeah, I love Macs, and regularly use Linux for all my serious work. And aside from testing purposes, I’ve never surfed with IE in my whole life. Unlike most people, I do make active choices in what I use.

As for the simplistic “it’s business”, well, yeah, sure, but that doesn’t make them good. And as I said, it’s got to the stage where there IS NO WAY for another company to compete, because as soon as MS feel threatened by another superior product (for example, Winamp), then bang: they pull the “OS integration” card, and also put in 500 default shortcut icons to their own inferior version of the product on every menu and desktop, and make the thing startup as soon as you log on.

Most people aren’t even aware they have a choice of WP software… That’s what I’m saying. Rightly or wrongly, morally or immorally, logically or illogically, that’s the way it is. MS can easily wipe out all rivals, and in turn that gives them even more power to be “successful” in the future. Great way of doing things, huh?

So as for the shortsighted McDonalds comparison, that just makes you a fucking moron.

As for what this has to do with SF going online- I have no idea!

.02, just so you know.

So you want a company to make less money just for morality? I laugh at that. Want to know how they wipe out their rivals? They do their shit right, and they still do it right. Again, THATS BUSINESS. They’re out to beat out the competition and make money, NOT to do the “right thing”. If they can crush competition and dominate the market, then hey, power to them. People buy their stuff because its good, not cause there arent any other choices.

Now getting back on topic, will Those XBOX Magic Box converters properly map with a custom stick wired with a DC controller board, or will I have issues? I’d rather pay $20 for the converter than $60-$80 for a new stick, cause “switching” over to the XBOX is costing me enough(system/games/XBL/router).

I’ve heard magic box maps L and R buttons, not C and Z buttons from DC. Which may or may not be an issue depending on how your stick is wired or if you’re willing to rewire. I’m making an xb stick since I never really made a great DC one… so is there even such a converter that goes from xb to dc? or would it have to be xb-ps2-dc (which would probably suck)? Anyone have suggestions?

Fuckin word to that.

Isn’t Mac OS X Unix based though? Or was the Linux statement completely separate

why is that moron ranting about ms putting stuff on their own operating system? what the fuck…

if i owned an operating system, and i saw someone develop a program for it and came out to be a success, i’d launch new operating systems with my own version of that software aswell.

it’s not microsoft’s fault everyone uses windows, if you don’t like windows, use something else man, i just don’t understand you at all.

microsoft can do what they please to their own operating system. if you don’t like the new additions ,uninstall them or download from 3rd parties… it’s not like MS makes you use wmp instead of winamp, you can set winamp to be the default player.

C and Z buttons?

Mummy-B- Well, yeah, MacOSX is unix-based, but what I meant was that I love Macs, and also that I use dedicated Red Hat Linux machines as well.

Yeah, you’re right. Whatever. But that doesn’t mean that the end user has the best software, which was my point. You can force software on people all you want, and make all the trillions of dollars you want, but at the end of thge day, most people are stuck with a load of shit. That’s my point.

Now stop wrecking the thread by bringing this up again and again… Keep quiet and show me that you’re mature enough to do that, will ya?

Yo! PLEASE GET BACK ON TOPIC

Anyone hear anything new on the subject??

SWEET!!

Can’t wate to get it.!!!

PS2 versions will be online now too according to IGN.

that is shocking, I think they moved too late tho, had this been out 6 months ago ps2 would have won easy. #R being on live will be a big advantage to MS in the choice of systems.
