 , please tell me that u don’t actually believe this or that u were just joking.
Actually, its not obvious that theres some fundamental physical limitation to lagless online play. Traveling at the speed of light, it takes a signal about 1/20 of a second to get to the other side of the world. That would probably be fine for street fighter, and of course if youre playing someone in the same country, it would be far less than that. So presumably present online systems are set up in a non-optimal way…
Oh yeah dude, I’m sure whatever modified stick that Calipower and DreamTR are using must be sent from heaven and I must get one of those!
So Capcom is goning to have to mention online play for the PS2 version @ E3 right?Shit if they don’t announce it somethings very wrong with them.
sure, there is going to be some lag. but for the most part, it’ll be totally playable and, regardless, it’ll still be 10x better than playing against Sean’s AI and fuckin’ Gill.
I am a happy happy camper who now needs to find a modchip that’ll allow me play xbox live when i need.
woohoo. cross-counter-cross-country!
There is no reason for those games to go online for ps2. ps2 doesn’t have an organized and stable online setup like xbox live. Either way I really don’t care. I bought my xbox a while back just for cvs2 live and now I realized I mad a good decision.
Because if that was what SF was about, playing comp would be useless anyway, you could be the best by going into training mode and practicing your reaction time, or by playing whack-a-mole at the arcade… Try looking at a bigger picture
Jot down all the characters in 3s, now write down someone in your area that you can play in the immediate future, that has mastered that character to say, evo top 16 level. You can probably play ken with 2 or 3 styles as well as some other characters, so be sure to include that. Now anything that isn’t accounted for, is a free loss, you can have all the reactions you want, you just don’t get to play.
Even if your in cali or even japan there’s always someone that you haven’t seen yet. That seems far more important than stuff you can practice in training mode. If your game is all about things that are useless online, try expanding your skillset, it will probably help offline too.
We shouldn’t worry about if it will go online on PS2 or GC.
The real issue is…
IT SHOULD BE ARCADE PERFECT
This is good news. People are talking about how good your connection is but like others have said, CvS2 had horrible net code. I’d like to think Capcom have learned from their mistakes. Anyone who’s played Zbattle can tell you that is VERY possible to have LAGFREE fighting game matches over the net, it just takes good netcode. If 3S’ netcode is anywhere as good as Zbattle this is going to be the bomb!
Now Capcom PLEASE give us SPFIIt.
HEY PEPEROTH!!!
OMG if you get Xbox Live we so have to play some 3rd Strike it’s not funny. I got my Pelican Real Arcade (soon hopefully a custom arcade stick) stick ready to bust some asses. Catch ya on Live girl. Smooches smooches.:o
HEY PEPEROTH!!!
LOL:lol:
Um, take out the stuff that I listed, and 3s isnt even a glimmer of the same game (for better or worse).
Capcom support online play for Resident Evil. Why shouldn’t it for Street Fighter? It’s Street Fighter for fucks sake. The PS2 has yet to see a 2-D online fighter soince the release of the NA. PS2 has the most owners as well. Why won’t they make it online?
…
This is great news thanks for posting the info.
They damn well better. I really dont feel like dropping cash for an XBOX, a stick, games, a router(long story), and then XBOX Live. Thats too much.
I think Twitch77 might be right. IGN only said Anniversary Collection would be live… And it’s also very clear that Douglass C. Perry has never played a SF game in his life…
Let’s see-
Assuming the signal travels in a perfectly conductive cable at the full speed of light, it would still take at least 0.0667 sec to go half of the circumference of the earth. This assumes it travels in a direct path as the crow flies, but this is never the case (a network between two points will usually doubleback on itself a few times).
Now consider also that the cabling isn’t perfect, and also that signal processing needs to take place (probaly 3-4 times at each end, and maybe once or twice in the middle), and that this is without traffic. So in the real world it could take anything well over 0.1 - 0.2 sec.
And using 1/60, one frame of SF is 0.0166 sec. Ahem.
thanks for clarifying that:confused:
anyways, im counting the days till this comes out…
**The anniversary collection includes Third Strike.
The Anniversary Collection is Hyper Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. Both titles are online enabled.**
