K, i wrote it wrong. It’s my fault. My upload speed is 386Kb which is 45k/sec. That’s what I meant…
How do you find out what your upload speed is?
Wow Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike on Xbox Live that would be great!
OOOH. Well, you shouldn’t have any problems unless you’re playing against someone with a crap connection (or someone really F’n far away).
this is gonna be bomb!
For all the people who’ve never played on Live before, don’t believe the hype, either way. Some people say it’s horribly laggy, some people say it’s perfect.
The truth: It’s neither.
XBL always has lag. Not major lag, but there’s always some sort of lag. Because of this, at least in CvS2, things like jumping and rolling work much more than they should. Parrying really isn’t that hard online though. It’s actually pretty easy.
As for the person who asked if you could punish a whiffed Fierce with a low Forward on reaction, the answer is no. I can’t do it at least, and I can definitely do that offline.
The key to playing on XBL is to not take it seriously. You can have very good matches, but you’ll never have perfect matches. I already bought my XBox and dropped like $500 on CvS2 alone, and I regretted it. Now, I don’t anymore with this announcement.
Bottom Line: I don’t really like Live that much, but I still play the shit out of it. I’m probably never gonna be able to go to EVO, and with Live, I can play Valle whenver the hell I want to, even if it’s only casual (and kinda shitty casual, at that). If I had to do it again, I’d still drop the dough on the Box (and ask around the XBL community; that’s a lot coming from me). If I still lived in NYC, I don’t know if I’d make that same decision, but if you’re lacking comp at all, just get the Box.
why did they say chun li will make a cameo appearance?
they also didnt mention 3s being online just AE
I’ll probably end up buying the PS2 version and the Xbox version just to support the fact that capcom is doing this. Maybe they’ll make something new if these packages actually sell well.
People should buy it just to support capcom maybe they will make another game
Fuckin awesome.I got my Xbox and all my games stolen like a month ago and I’m gonna buy another Xbox when the price goes down to $100.I swear Capcom better have a really good netcode for the online play because if its gonna be the same laggy shit as cvs2 I might as well not buy it.
I’m looking forward to playing you all.
(BTW,why are there so many Naruto fans all of the sudden?)
I just dont get this. How the hell are you going to play 3s online? links into supers on reaction? short short super on reaction? blocking overheads (including ones that lead to massive dmg like urien’s when you’re in an aegis)? parrying extra times when you see your opponent use a multi hitting move as anti air (such as an EX dp)? escaping makoto’s dash? hitting whiffed moves? throwing out a super when you see your opponent do a move? teching a shoto/urien/elena/whoever dash -> throw?
These are all things that require good reactions even in an arcade- and are fundamental to playing the game.
Unless Xbox live is as good as zbattle (and even then most of this shit would probably still be impossible), I just dont see why everyone’s so excited about this…
EDIT: I certainly do hope I’m wrong though… I’d be the first one in line to buy an XBox if I am…
hell freakin’ yeah!
i’m buying an xbox now,
just to play 3rd Strike!
how much does it cost?
Sounds good alright for SFAE being online only for xbox so far, but imma wait to get an xbox. oh lets say when xbox hit $100 price drop for me:cool: so i wont have to pay so much just to play one game online. If only damn capcom would give us PS2 owners an online option too:( oh well back to playing socom 2:cool:
Sony seriously needs to straighten out their online strategy. Other than EA and Sony themselves, few games that NEED it, have implemented online sequences.
But yea, WHOO HOO!
I can still short short super on xbl when playing cvs2, block short jumps, and many other people can do difficlut customs even in the worst lag. As long as u have a good connection it should be ifne. THe thing is a lot of people think their connection is good, but it really isn’t. I thought my connection was good with DSL, until i switched to cable and now my matches are almost lag free unless the other persons connection sucks. But even then, the games are still pretty decent
I heard these people who can carry out their comboes smoothly use modified arcade stick. Their buttons are all turboed…
My connection is good. I can see that from downloading/uploading stuff. Using my connection, games like PSO run fine, why not CvS2? What is it with the 2D games and lag? Some people say it’s the netcode, I say it’s just how 2D games work online. We’ll see pretty soon when GGXX #r comes out in the states.
Whenever I play CvS2 on Live, it always seems my character has 5x of gravity on it. There is never lag free. It would be a lucky day if lag is not heavy.
even if microsoft made xbox live the best gaming network on earth, it wouldn’t be able to eliminate lag. it’s a sad fact of physics. it takes time for your game inputs at an arcade cabinet to travel from the stick to register; of COURSE it’ll take longer when you’re playing against someone who’s not sitting next to you at the same cabinet.
this isn’t a problem if you’re using a rocket launcher with splash damage to compensate for a misfire.
this IS a problem if you’re trying to consistently hit one- or -two frame links, frcs, whatever. if nothing else, i imagine you’d start to develop shitty arcade habits.
i live in cali…enough arcade comp for me here. good on ya, capcom, but i’ll pass.
Every single game of CVs2 played on live has some lag. Even though it might not be noticeable there is. And yes I do play this game at the arcade and you could tell. The above post also makes a ton of sense.
I’m happy! Might not be perfect, but I’ll be first in line to pick up a copy. See you guys in the fall.
this is fucking great news, i love my xbox. i got something for all u motherfuckers out there come release day!!! HAHAHAHA!!!
