That is truth right there. All the bullshit in online games can be traced back to either lag or the ranking system - no matter which game it is.
Save the rankings for people who want to post their fastest time to beat Ninja Gaiden and hi scores for Paperboy on Midway Classics.
The worst part of SF is that your either one of the few people that have a ‘name’, a shit talker, or a nobody. Anyone that wants to know about SF could benefit from a good ranking system. Like gilley said just seperate the standard (i hate the implication that arcade = standard) and EO rankings, come up with a formula to offset droppers, and just tweak it. Just because something isn’t perfect doesn’t mean we have to go back to something retarded (ranking by popularity).

Not to each and his own, it’s a fact. If you have a good halo player who’s good with mouse and keyboard play against a controller ppl, he’s going to win 100 percentt of the time. The ability to aim accurately on a controller is just no match to mouse&keyboard.
FPS does not belong on consoles. That is how I feel too. HOwever, Sony needs a response to MS’s pimping its Halo all the time. What’s good about Xbox? Halo. What’s a good game on Xbox. Halo. That has been M$'s stragety from the beginning. They can’t win developers over to their Xbox, so they port the shit out of PC titles and even make games using PC popular genre as well.
Since this IS a SRK.com forum that we are in, Xbox shows more potential as 2D fighting machine as opposed to PS2 because of online features online. More 2D fighters will be online compatible on Xbox than they will ever be on PS2. Guilty Gear X2 #Reload is better than Isuka, even you should know that. Capcom’s press releases about Fighting Jam and Street Fighter Anniversary Collection say nothing about PS2 Online, so reports saying otherwise should be ignored, cuz its coming July for PS2, and they don’t have time to put online features for it. Also, MK: Deception is also on Xbox, and while it is online for both, Xbox is STILL home to the first online 3D fighters with Dead or Alive Ultimate, but you are prolly one of the severals who claim DOA sux (an opinion really)
So far, Xbox’s potential is just as good as PS2’s. Does any 2D game on Xbox plays better online? No. Not according to what I saw. Nothing is smooth about CvS2 online. Most of games on Xbox are also on PS2. Until Xbox shows me that it can do better for online fighters, I am going to keep my opinion.

As for Forza vs. GT4, who cares which sells more; its not like that money is going in your pockets. Alot of shitty games outsell masterpieces, and I’m not saying Forza is better than GT4, but it shows potential. If Forza does turn out to “kill” GT4 according to critics, will you state the obvious, “GT4 sold more”? Games are great cause of gameplay, not cause of their sales.

When it comes to RPGs, we have the sequel to last year’s GOTY, KOTOR. You’ll prolly say, “it’s on PC”, but we also have Jade Empire and Fable, which are Xbox exclusives. You can hate on those all you want, but they are a breath of fresh air compared to your Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts 2.
yea, people are still talking about Fable. That game was announced back in 2002, and people are still talking about it. Personally, I think Fable is going to suck. No game in history with such a long development and actually turns out to be good. Jade Empire does not interest me as well.
Devil May Cry 2 sux, and DMC3 does little to restore the franchise back to the original (Ninja Gaiden DESTROYS Devil May Cry 1!!!); Metal Gear Solid 3 is a great game, but its strays too far from the 1st two in terms of gameplay that it worries me(plus MGS2 is on Xbox, and did Konami ever say it was exclusive?); Tenchu 4 is cool, but, Xboxers can play Tenchu online (and it’s not available online for PCs either); Silent Hill 4 is on Xbox with better graphics, quicker load times, and 5.1; and though Xboxers will have to wait a good year for GTA San Andreas, it should be worth it, cause, have you seen GTA Double Pack on Xbox?; And are you serious about Musashi Samurai Legends?; Tekken 5 has not even been played yet, tho 4 sux in comparison to the earlier ones… there are even “nasty” rumors that it may appear on all consoles like Soul Calibur II did, and I sure you are smart enough to acknowledge that the Xbox version was superior to the PS2 version;
What does Ninja Gaiden destorys DMC with? It’s shitty camera angle? No thanks. Konami never said it was coming to Xbox, so yes, it is exclusive. It is kinda like your Halo 2 not going to PC JUST YET argument. And, looking how badly MGS2 did on Xbox, i don’t think it is looking very good for xbox ppls. I do agree Xbox’s version of Soul Calibur 2 is beter than PS2’s. It is more colorful, but it would make no sense for me to see people buying a Xbox just for a few titles or ports.

I have no interst in most of these titles except a few. I wonder how good True Fantasy Live Online is going to be. I have all these fighters on my PS2 already, and frankly, no one wants to play SvC let alone to play it online. Blinx 1 did horrible and was reviewed as a shitty game. I don’t know why you put the sequel of a shitty game on there. I am confident that Sudeki and Pariah
will suck, fable will bomb. DOA series is just another DOA. Mindless button mashing is top tier in that game. 
Again, no one has the money to buy a up to date PC, they shouldn’t have the money to afford a HDTV. With that said, why buy a Xbox when it only excceed in a few categories over PS2?

HDTV does come at an ugly price for the cheapest one i seen so far was a 27inche at $500 and that wasnt even a name brand. HDTV is good an all considering anybody with wide screen too can enjoy the game to its fullest, but HDTV’s in doubt is too freakin expensive even though we got HD progams on cable. I on the other hand just went with a $300 27inche sony TV for the heck of it cause sometimes I prefer something cheaper than quality. Ill just enjoy high quality picture when I roll to someone’s else hosue and play on there TV that supports it.
No matter how good a FPS game is on a console, dont count me on buying one for i prefer PC FPS where my true potential is at. If Halo 2 never comes out for the PC, then so beat it for I aint getting an xbox or even if it comes to the PS2. FPS is a great addition to the consoles, but they are best play on PC all the time.
So beat it if xbox get all the fighting games for only some are worth playing and others are just worth downloading for free.
PS2 this year got new fighting games which is Smackdown vs. Raw, Tekken 5, KOF:MI, MKD, GG Isuka, and Capcom Fighting Jam. xbox only got Capcom Fighting Jam and MKD with the rest being like old already.
Say what you want about smackdown vs. raw, but i can tell you for sure that this game will sell regardless if the game suck or now. The last 3 sold over 400,000 copies, this one will too.
Like i say, I aint getting an xbox and SFAC for if the game turn out laggy just like CVSEO, then screw the game.

Whoah!!! DMC’s cameras are flawless compared to Ninja Gaiden’s??!!! Have you even played Ninja Gaiden (and at a friend’s house or a store kiosk does not count)? Also, Skyler, Ninja Gaiden and DMC are in the same generation, so it’s not a 10 or evena five years difference that makes Ninja Gaiden better than DMC. DMC was cool, but 2 sucked ass, and even the first one can’t touch Ninja Gaiden.
Also, you guys don’t get what I’m saying about FPSs. How come they don’ make too many RTSs on consoles but they make FPSs? They work just as well on consoles, and while keyboards and mice are superior to control pads, they’d make em for consoles, or people who play console FPS would demand em, huh. Sure you prefer PCs to play FPSs, but why are Halo, TimeSplitters, Perfect Dark, the first Medal of Honor, and Goldeneye critically acclaimed and bestsellers despite their “inferior” controls? Lets see how many units DOOM 3 and Far Cry Instincts sell for Xbox since everyone hates to play FPS with controllers as opposed to a keyboard and mouse.
There is also a fault in your argument about HDTVs vs. PC costs: you don’t need to an HDTV to play Doom 3 on Xbox, but you do need a high-end PC to play it on PC, and like Skyler just mentioned, not all HDTVs are expensive, plus their prices are dropping, as opposed to PC parts, but hey, tigerdirect.com is not as popular as amazon.com or ebay.com, otherwise we would all have fast PCs to play Doom 3, and they would not bother making it for Xbox. I said “support HDTV” not require folken…
Online is laggy no matter what… especially if the connections are not perfect. Xbox lags, PC lags, PS2 lags… its a fact. Also, this is Capcom we are talking a bout. Outside of whatever achievements they have made in Japan, online fighters is new and started on Xbox, and since Capcom is known to get lazy with ports, did you really expect perfections. I play CVS on Live, and it rarely lags, and when it does, it is never to the point of logging off. To date, there is not even an online fighter here for PS2. And since you guys feel sales are important whether the game sux or not, Dead or Alive Ultimate is one of the most anticipated fighters of 2004, axccording to polls and not my opinion. Where’s Sony’s online 3D fighter (Maybe Smackdown if THQ can do it?)
Xbox Live is superior to PS2 Online, case closed. One gamertag for all games, all games broadband and voice supported. Closed network to prevent cheaters which is QUITE prevalent in PS2 Online games (plus with XNA, Live will be available PC games that use it); more ONLINE games on Xbox than on PS2; a hardrive in every system for a ton of content download; A friendlist (few PS2 game have this), voice chat, and video chat coming soon!!! PS2 lacks ALL of these; therefore, the PS2’s potential is not the same.
As for how folken breaking down the list; his opinions merely. The same thing can be done with Skler’s list of PS2 games…
also, HALO 2 is the Most Anticipated Game of 2004 according to Gamespy AND IGN based on how many people logged on the sites during E3, beating out GTA: San Andreas and other game yoy guys think will be better than it… and its on Xbox. So is DOOM 3 which people want if they can’t update their PCs, or since it has online co-op (the PC doesn’t)

The reason why companies are making FPS games for consoles too is cause consoles generate more revunue than PC games. Consoles are cheaper to get thus releasing FPS games is the wiser choice so you can generate more money. Not everybody can afford a PC alright or because they got no use for a PC or they dont know how to use one or they dont care about PC’s at all. RTS games is a different story for I havent seen alot of people playing those games alot. RPG has more users than RTS so its no suprise why some RTS isnt popular among others.
Even though FPS are better on PC’s, you gotta remember that the other money is on consoles too, not just PC and consoles users are large than PC users video game standard, so you might as well release games on console too than just PC.
