this would be great news if i didn’t have aol brodband, xbox live doesn’t support it, and i just lost a two month free subscription too it, i’ve had it and cvs2:eo on it for a year now but havn’t been able to play online with it

As far as the system wars go… I have both systems and I lean towards the PS2, mainly because I don’t play online all that much anymore (due to a lack of fighting games being online), and I like traditional Japanese RPG’s. I think the Xbox is a better online system by far, it’s just that I’m not too interested in the current line up of XBL games (Not a FPS or Sports game fan).
Anyway I love the fact that Capcom is finally putting online play into all of their US 2D fighting game releases, after the wasted potential of the DC it’s good to see.
jeeze you still havent check out the trailer for Metal Gear Solid 3. that trailer is now even longer than the original trailer. You actually think Motorsport will beat out Gran Turismo 4, well let the sales do the talking after both games are out. PS2 and Xbox are just taking off on online gaming world now, where gonna have to wait till the successor to the consoles come out. Thats when real online gaming should be more funner and shouldnt have too much lag to play with. These 2 console cant compete with the PC online world, so both in terms are still just growing up. Im guessing you never experience the top play video games for the PS2, thus thats why these games dont seem to interest you. So before you bash about the line ups, play them first cause you bashing out Metal Gear Solid 3 without trying out the game seems that you have a grudge against sony for doing something to you. Remember that for a title to become a sony greatest hits, it has to last about 9months and sell 400,000 copies. Tekken 4 did it, Socom did it, Metal Gear Solid 2 did it, Devil may cry 1&2 did it, Gran Turismo 3 did it, Smackdown did it, Madden did it, and others too. And how many greatest hits are there on xbox compare to PS2???hmmm…
and Halo isnt the #1 game right now anymore, its The new legend of zelda game from nintendo.:eek:

You need to give Xbox more credit than you given it. Online-wise, it is muuch better than PS2 in terms of games (more online featured titles than PS2) and features. Don’t even bring up PCs, because nothing will ever surpass PCs in regards to online games, and bear in mind, not everyone cans spend thousands on a supreme gaming rig.
FPSs playing better with keyboards and mouses? To each his own, but Halo 2 ain’t comin to PCs (atleast not anytime soon), and like I said, an Xbox is more price accessible to people than a new PC; so games like Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 being playable on Xbox as opposed to not being on PS2 make a huge difference. Far Cry is said to be on PS2, but it will look and play better on Xbox (but you have a powerful PC that can play it, don’t you?) If FPSs don’t belong on consoles, then why is Sony scrambling to make a Halo clone titled “Killzone”? The game is not even out, and they’ve already acquired Guerilla to make games exclusive for them…
Since this IS a SRK.com forum that we are in, Xbox shows more potential as 2D fighting machine as opposed to PS2 because of online features online. More 2D fighters will be online compatible on Xbox than they will ever be on PS2. Guilty Gear X2 #Reload is better than Isuka, even you should know that. Capcom’s press releases about Fighting Jam and Street Fighter Anniversary Collection say nothing about PS2 Online, so reports saying otherwise should be ignored, cuz its coming July for PS2, and they don’t have time to put online features for it. Also, MK: Deception is also on Xbox, and while it is online for both, Xbox is STILL home to the first online 3D fighters with Dead or Alive Ultimate, but you are prolly one of the severals who claim DOA sux (an opinion really)
As for Forza vs. GT4, who cares which sells more; its not like that money is going in your pockets. Alot of shitty games outsell masterpieces, and I’m not saying Forza is better than GT4, but it shows potential. If Forza does turn out to “kill” GT4 according to critics, will you state the obvious, “GT4 sold more”? Games are great cause of gameplay, not cause of their sales.
When it comes to RPGs, we have the sequel to last year’s GOTY, KOTOR. You’ll prolly say, “it’s on PC”, but we also have Jade Empire and Fable, which are Xbox exclusives. You can hate on those all you want, but they are a breath of fresh air compared to your Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts 2.
Devil May Cry 2 sux, and DMC3 does little to restore the franchise back to the original (Ninja Gaiden DESTROYS Devil May Cry 1!!!); Metal Gear Solid 3 is a great game, but its strays too far from the 1st two in terms of gameplay that it worries me(plus MGS2 is on Xbox, and did Konami ever say it was exclusive?); Tenchu 4 is cool, but, Xboxers can play Tenchu online (and it’s not available online for PCs either); Silent Hill 4 is on Xbox with better graphics, quicker load times, and 5.1; and though Xboxers will have to wait a good year for GTA San Andreas, it should be worth it, cause, have you seen GTA Double Pack on Xbox?; And are you serious about Musashi Samurai Legends?; Tekken 5 has not even been played yet, tho 4 sux in comparison to the earlier ones… there are even “nasty” rumors that it may appear on all consoles like Soul Calibur II did, and I sure you are smart enough to acknowledge that the Xbox version was superior to the PS2 version;
PS2 outsells Xbox because they had a YEAR headstart. Had they launched at the same time, it would be ALOT closer!
EA is now onboard for Xbox Live, so Sony’s Online feature has gotten less attractive!

ok first and formal, Covenant started this crap without any good reasons to back up his talk. Yes PS2 is weaker than the xbox considering the xbox is running on a P3 chip which is a weaker version of a 900mhz process computer. Plus your telling me that FPS games is better play on a xbox when your true potential is on a PC. Isnt that the same with fighting games from controller to joystick?? xbox line up this year is okay, but not top notch. Dont even consider that Halo 2 is better on an xbox than the PC version. Have you try Far Cry on the PC version, if you do then why the hell do you think Far Cry will be best play on an xbox. that game requires a 256mb video card just to get the best picture quality. So why waste 50$ smackers on a xbox version when you can get the PC version. Even if you dont have a PC, then wait till the game drops down to $20. How can people not afford PC’s now? they drop in price already with 2.8GHZ CPU’s going for $500 and monitors are now set to $100 or you can just go TV output. You can also buy some very cheap ones online like a 1.6 P3 for less than $300. Even if yo cant afford a PC, Im guessing you Yizzah heard of lan shops and cyber cafe before have you?? Cybre cafes are popping up now with more and more shops being open with cheaper price. So if you dont have a PC, then goto cyber cafe where you will also get some competition. And yes DOA does sucks for I got reasons as the next guys does, but the game is only good to play around with, not competition wise even though they got eye popping graphics(didnt the creator of this game say that VF4 and T4 got nothing on them?)
RPG games are now dead with only a few release every now and then. The only company actually worth looking into RPG games is squarenix. Devil May Cry 1 revolutionize the action games and it came out way before ninja gaiden was even annouce. its like your telling me that MVC2 is better than SF2 cause MVC2 was 10yrs release after SF2 was. MGS series will always have different gameplays and if the game succed in selling numbers and got a very high score, than you know the producer actually put alot of effort into making just this game. How many people can try to do what Kojima did?? Splinter Cell only came half way, but they cant even touch MGS3. and did you watch the new MGS3 trailer at all??
Sales of games does determine the state of games too. If a game sells alot, then people is probably going to want a sequel made by the same director. sales also tells that the game is very popular among the buyers. If the sales for a game wasnt so high, you think the company is going to put faith in releasing a sequel again when the game is doom from the start. Not to mention if you as the director do a good job, then you will be well known more just like Miyamoto(or whatever his name is) and even get a higher pay or do you wanna be the guy on the side line??
thats only 1 of the reason why PS2 outsell xbox cause the console was release early, but the other reason too is that the console is going to have a good library line up, can play PS1 games, can play DVD’s, and they hype about the console itself. Most people skip out of the DreamCast console cause some didnt wanna spit out $300 for a console that was going to die in a few years. A risk like that isnt even worth taking since you can use that money on something even better.

You do know that online is just taking off, that the newer consoles will be coming out within 2 years give or take. Im looking forward to the newer consoles to see what they can do and how far they can go, but consoles like xbox, GC, and PS2 is just the start of another era to come.

Umm, PS2 sold from hype alone, cuz it had a lousy launch lineup, and great games did not come out for it since Onimusha 1, which did not release till a good six month after. When DC died, it was the only system on the market for a good while…
Halo 2 is NOT coming to PC; in theory it would alot better on PC than on Xbox, but it won’t happen in the foreseeable future. Also, another way to look at the PC argument is that, most people would rather play their games from the comfort of their couch infront of their television in the living room, than sitting upright in front of a PC monitor. I never said FPSs are better on Xbox than on PCs; the fact that these FPSs that look so much better on PC are being made for consoles states that not everyone can buy an up-to-date PC. Sure, a person can put down up to $500 so Doom 3 can run well on their PC, but what happens when Quake IV minimum requirements are even more demanding? Not everyone has access to lan cafes, and not every lan cafes have the latest games available (hell, the biggest one where I’m from has Xboxes on LANs)… thats like saying 10 years ago, if you want to play SF, go to arcades, when someone argues they have it for SNES…
In regards to your RPG argument, the same thing can be said about Bioware. KOTOR sold faster than Halo 1, sold more copies than the PC version, and Bioware’s status as developers cannot be denied. I even read that Final Fantasy XII plays ALOT like KOTOR in terms of combat system and gameplay. Jade Empire cannot be denied, and what can be said about Fable?
As for online, Xbox just keeps getting better, and with XNA, even PCs will be able to communicate with Xboxes, and since Live is an infrastructure Microsoft spent millions on, it will be intact and more improved for the next generation. Xbox revolutionized onkline gaming on consoles, and when PS3 copies much of what Xbox has accomplished, Xbox 2 will still be ahead with new features and stuff. Hell, video chatting is only a year away for Xbox 1!
Also, do you mean to tell me PS2 can do HDTV resolutions as well as Xbox. Xbox can even display 1080i depending on the game; can PS2?

Personally, I’m thrilled that it’s coming out on Xbox. Somehow I just was slightly dissatisfied with the DC version so I’m hoping this one is arcade-perfect.
I don’t have Xbox Live, but my brother does. Perhaps I will try it online some time. I also really hope there is a colour edit mode and custom soundtrack capablility.
