Street fighter EX thread(EX, EX+, Ex+@, EX2, EX2+, EX3)

If you can pull off a lightning kick infinite on any opponent in the heat of battle then you deserve the win. Being able to consistently cancel a normal into a lightning kick, then ending the lightning kick on the right frame so that you have enough frame advantage to get a 2 frame link to another normal and then cancel that into another lightning kick is very hard. Get the spacing wrong on the inital poke and you can’t loop the lightning kick. Its basically like saying the El Feurte infinite in SF4V was broken.

Kairi has no infinites. What you saw was a temporary power up. To activate you need to either do his level 3 meteor (kamehameha). That will then start draining his health away. And until he has 1 health left he’ll be in that power up. Then the power up ends. BTW the move is generally unsafe and can be easily punished whether you connect or not. And Tagging out cancels the power up.

The 2nd way to activate it is a move like a raging demon. LP, HP, MK, f, Lk, MP, HK. This move uses 1 bar of meter. However Kairi must be in low health. Like 15% health or something like that. You can combo into it, however that combo won’t lead to that sequence that you thought was an infinite. As the move takes too long to activate and recover from to combo anything from it without a tag. And generally the only moves which would grant enough hit stun to combo from are supers that’ll knock the opponent away from you thus they won’t stay grounded enough to perform the loop.

Then you get into the problem of walking forward normals into hadoukens without accidentally getting a shoryuken.

Basically what I’m saying is that in practice neither of them are broken. In training mode, sure anything can be broken. But matches don’t lend themselves to the same situations.

@HeLGeN-X I have a nvram that unlocks EX2+ characters in MAME.

This doesn’t help for online matches though sadly. I think an application (a trainer) can do this during every online session, but it’s just a weird process. The best way would be rom hacking it to automatically unlock the characters, but I know little about hard coding into the rom itself. An alternative would be finding a way to use cheats during P2P, which I haven’t found out how to do yet. Trying to run share save states won’t work either since the game will crash.

Im sure its harder to do in sf4 and I’ve seen people pull it off online, Brolylegs can do them and he plays with his mouth. It bothers me that the game can award a player who has good execution more than a player with solid fundimentals. I could be outplaying my opponent get hit with 1 cr.mk into infinite and I lose, they dont deserve the round imo. Elfs run stop loops are not broken because he has no way of landing it unless the other player does something really unsafe.

Is ex3 4player the same way as sfxt? Ty

They don’t get the round. EX3 4 player isn’t like TTT or SFxT. Both of your players have to die to lose the round.

For whether the lightning kick infinite is harder or not doesn’t really matter. No one plays the game seriously enough to master the infinite to pull off in gameplay situations. HK players that can pull off the infinite never did it in matches (whether by choice or practicality is unknown). Never happens in the a-cho matches. So I wouldn’t worry about it. Nor would I worry about a combo that desk pulls off to be an accurate representation of what the SFEX player base can do.

I’ve seen a chun player do the infinite at a-cho, playing ex2. Not sure why the EX didnt get any attention.

oh? Did he win the tournament with that infinite? Or just win the round? Or did he mess up after a few loops?

Just the game. He never attempted it again after that iirc.

Do you play ex2/3 online?

I don’t play online. Though EX3 doesn’t have online capability. Which is my preferred SFEX game.

I’m still trying to tear EX3 up lol. I’m currently looking for frame data or a hitbox viewer. Anyone know where I could find or get it?
Also iWin, that Kairi infinite is quite literally impossible to do in a match. And that Chun infinite is in like 5 Street Fighter games including SFIV. the chances of you getting punished with an infinite in this game are slim to none. High damaging or even touch of death combo? possibly. Not an infinite though.

Its not an infinite in sf4. Like SG said nobody cares enough about this game to master the infinite, thats the only reason you will rarely see it.

Well the Kairi one, technically isn’t an infinite. He remains in that powered up form until his health drains down to 1/0 point’s. Then that mode deactivates and he won’t be able to do that loop anymore. It does require that he either spend a lvl 1 super if he’s already at low health, or a lvl 3 if you got the meter and health to spare.

@ CapnWTF As far as I know, no one has ever made any cheat or trainer to display the hitboxes. I asked JedPossim or whatever his name was about it. But he had no interest in looking into it. That would have been nice at least for the arcade versions of ex1 thru ex2+. Might be something that capcom could do if they ever release a collection of those games.

Random EX1 casuals from a friend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTB10-m2mkI

all I see is that they are using the invincibility of the tag as a defensive maneuver in order to start their offense again. the D. Dark is inefficient though!

what’l I’ll give for sf ex compilation…or atleast ex2 plus/ ex3

agreed. Though I still contend that arcade SFEX is beautifully animated compared to the rest of the SFEX series.

Uploaded some EX3 casuals from this year’s Final Round and last. (I’m a notorious procrastinator so that’s why they’re so close together…). We only get a chance to play this game once a year so don’t expect anything amazing.

Saotome Kaneda…we didn’t get to play anything together this year. I was very disappointed in that. You and Scott Popular besmirch me constantly.

I’m looking to mod a PS2 output so I can split the multi av out to two items at once. One the portable hori screen for the PS3 (works great for the PS2, no lag), and to a recorder of some type. If only there was a product already out that already split the PS2 multi av out to two ports… la sigh.
