I did that when I used to use the diamond USB capture device to record my videos. I had to do that because the device itself didn’t provide that capability like newer products do. The problem is that the video quality would suffer. The finished video is less crisp than if you had directly hooked the capture device to the computer and the screen the players are using got slightly darker.
I now use a completely different capture device that supports both new and old systems and it works very well for me.
These games are so unappreciated. I’m starting a small series of TAS’ culminating in the MANIAC mode for EX2+, to try and drum up interest in these games. Here’s the first one I’ve finished.
Got some matches in with Dai and his brother a few days ago. Didn’t record anything but we found something hilarious. Basically I did Sagat’s LV3 meteor and he did Kairi’s teleport over me and got on my back side in which he then did Kairi’s lv3 kamehameha. Except the beam went through through me and didn’t hit me out of the meteor at all. Infact when Sagat raised the energy ball over his head he hit Kairi out of his kamehameha.
According to a columbian website they had the tiers for EX2P as
SFEX2+
1st Tier
Garuda
Sharon
2nd Tier
Rosso
Dhalsim
Area
D.Dark
Hokuto
Kairi
Skullo
Shadow
Guile
Nanase
Sagat
Ken
3rd
Not too sure about the order on this one.
Bison
Jack
Ryu
Chun Li
Zangief
Darun
Hayate
Blanka
4th
Vega
I’m sure somewhere in the pages of this topic there was a few more tier lists that we gave. But in the end I would say it wouldn’t really matter. You aren’t likely to find someone to play against where tiers are even going to matter. And to that point, tier lists are supposed to change based on what people discover, but without a deep scene you can never really discover everything so it makes having a good tier list almost impossible.
For example the tier list above has chun li being 3rd tier. Now we have to ask ourselves, did they know about her lightning kick infinite loop? If they didn’t, then that changes their tier listings. What if they knew about it but no one they knew could do it consistently so they wrote if off? Meanwhile if you have another group of friends who could do the lightning kick infinite loop on command they may end up putting Chun Li in 1st tier. After all at that point all you need is 1 poke with the right distance and you won the match.
So play with who you like. Garuda is good for bulk damage and chip damage, sharon has throw mix ups, rosso has rush down and an infinite loop (only against big guys???), Sim controls space very well and has some good juggles, Area is a rush down queen and can control space very well. D.Dark has an easy cross up knockdown that can be exploited, Nanase has a nigh infinite loop that requires a ton of meter and very execution heavy. But lots of characters all do very well, so again I don’t think it really matters. Nearly everyone can compete with anyone. It’s all up to the player.
It’s really a shame this game couldn’t get a re-release. I’ve always been fond of the ex series especially the character designs for the original ex characters.
Well you can play it online with epsxe and kaillera. However I found the netcode at the time horrible… then again I think that was back in college with horrible internet in 1999-2003, so maybe it’d be better now… God I can’t believe I used to yearn for a dedicated T1 line which at this point is several of times slower than cable…
Got some games in at combobreaker this weekend. Looks like several of the SFEX2p players flat out ignored it though. Granted it was EX3, but still didn’t even come up and ask to put in EX2p. Missed some games with webster, but we’ll do it again another time. Sadly didn’t hack that hori display yet so no recorded footage.
While not much of a match player, if you need any ideas for combos feel free to ask. I’ve made combo videos with every character. Be it tag starters, etc…
