Im down to play online. Id prefer playing on mame as wouldn’t psx emu cause a lot of desyncs. Gonna drop ST for this after evo I think.
Kairi didnt kill Gouki. In fact, it was almost the other way around. Gouki(Akuma) beat kairi within an inch of his life until he did his version of the shin gouki satsu just so he could escape. Garuda was the one who almost killed Gouki, hence why Gouki was only in Street Fighter EX plus alpha. Garuda humilated him. Street Fighter(2, Zero, 3, EX) all had pretty decent storylines in my opinion, alot better then Garbage Fighter 4. Btw did Fighting Layer ever get a home port?
My guess on Fighting Layer port/update got canned when Capcom wanted sfex3.
Which was when Sony wanted a SF game for their PS2 launch.
For Fighting Layer, no home port. It was released on the same hardware that Tekken 3 came out on. So it should have been a PSX port the same year as SFEX2P. Whether Namco had something to do with that I don’t know. But I had to import my board for $800.

There is whole lot you have to degrade to get it to work on the playstation even on tekken 3. It isn’t as simple as telling the compile to build on as a psx game.
The textures on Fighting Layer are even bigger than sfex2+ arcade textures plus using way more 3d than sfex2+ as well.
Arcade Lost Sea(Left as a link cause of size)
Like TTT1 that came out on same board too, I don’t see it working on ps1.
Well should’ve and could’ve. Considering that they cut out textures in the PS2 version of TTT IIRC, that could’ve been a PS2 launch title as well I suppose. But since it never came out on home consoles its pointless to speculate on where it should’ve been ported to.
early development video of SFEX by ARIKA.
Sagat fuzzy got me hyped as ffffffuck. Seriously hope it’s not a Garuda-only or big body-only setup. Need to investigate this further once I can get my hands on a damn fightstick. Thanks for post, CMM.
A-cho Capcom Historical Top 8 (I guess site only shows top 4 on results)

ex2 is so hype. is anyone playing online with an emulator somehow? I really want to play this game against other people haha.
Ex2 plays well on the Zinc emulatoredit: nvm, just read the previous page. hopefully one day the FBA devs add support for more systems so that GGPO can add the games…
Figured out the color format used in on the indexed textures.
Used the psx version as it’s the easiest to get a palette data.

It’s the same format that’s used on the cps3 just no byte swapping involved.
Sadness. EX2+ finally arrived in the mail and the PS3 refuses to read the disc. It seems like the rim of the disc is badly worn for whatever reason, it’s apparent just my running my finger along the disc. I’d get it resurfaced, but I’m certain that won’t solve the problem.

Man, that sucks.
I’m glad I bought a Japanese PS2, used games from Japan tend to always be much better cared for I find.
I recently acquired EX2Plus and 3S (I wanted the PS2 port for completion’s sake) and they’re both practically unused.
Compare that to my European copy of Resident Evil 3 with broken hinges and some weird brown-ish stain on the front of the CD and on the back of the inlay.
(it still works fine, but I feel like you’ve got to be trying to screw the game up to make it look as bad as it does).
Well don’t bother getting the Japanese version of EX3. It has a lot of noticeable slowdown. Especially doing tag sequences.

That’s actually really helpful since I’ve been thinking about getting EX3 whenever I feel like I have gotten as much as I can out of EX2.
Guess I’ll get the PAL version instead, then.
Well its up to you, but wouldn’t the pal version run at 50fps instead of 60fps? I could have sworn that the PSX pal versions ran slower than the NTSC versions.

It does. A few games give you the option to select which one you prefer, but they’re in the minority so I doubt EX3 has it.
At any rate, I prefer a stable yet slower framerate compared to a fast but unstable one.
Nothing takes you out of the game more than the framerate suddenly dipping down at inopportune times.
I keep seeing talk of playing this online? EX2+ I mean (but EX3 is great too)
How would I do so?
