This thread + all the hype as fuck matches made me purchase a copy of this game to play.
Iāve had a little experience with this game on emulator in the past, but I needed the real deal. Thanks! Other than this thread is there a credible source of info for the game online?
While I would love to list my website it isnāt anywhere near complete enough, so Iād say gamefaqs should give you a good handle on some of the basics.
Last time I messed with csmame/mamehub netplay, kaillera/p2p was still better and reading the update logs no mentions improved networking since then either.
I remember playing one of these games as a kid and ended up being off-put because the game felt slow and clunky.
Bought EX and EX2 recently out of curiosity and man, these games are actually really damn good!
Theyāre a bit slower than the 2D iterations at the time, sure, but the super-canceling goes a long way in spicing up the matches,
plus the engine itself just feels nice and solid.
The presentation is top-notch as well,
I might even go as far as saying that EX1 might just have my favorite soundtrack in the whole SF series.
Iāve had similar responses when people tried it by themselves in the past it look or felt slow. But once they get into the pace of a match it seems much faster and much more fun.
Though looking at the all about street fighter alpha 3 (technically zero 3), a lot of the movements were similar in speed, jump height etc⦠frame data speeds.
Iām trying to setup the Zinc emulator with the Zenith frontend, but Iām having trouble =/
every time I try to load a game, a cmd window clashes for 1 second and then closes again. I catch a slight glimpse of it, when I try to run EX2+ it says, āerror missing romfile: [coh-3ā I canāt really read the rest because the window is gone in a millisecond. how can I fix this? Iāve even tried getting roms from a different source, but no goā¦
Check the options in the frontend, there should be an option to audit the rom and see whats missing. Though it maybe something as simple as missing the bios for the ZN2 hardware.
Capcom will never allow a character that killed Akuma to resurface, heās to valuable to them at this point from a marketing perspective. I agree though, he should come back and shake up the canon with his story but I doubt SF4 retards could handle something like that.
Iām doubting just how much that actually happened. Nothing in the character bios and endings mention Kairi killing Akuma. Maybe in some non-canon comic book something like that happened. But when would we take something as weak as a comic book as canon? And when did storylines ever mean that much in SF? Capcom just brought back Gouken from being dead for the last 15 years saying that he was just in a coma⦠not hooked up to any medical devices to feed his body food, yeah its BS and believing that Capcom is keeping Kairi out of the main SF series because he supposedly killed Akuma is BS.
Iām using the Zenith front end, and all of the roms have all of the needed files. I also have all of the bios files. I should note that these same roms work with PSXMAME. I think the main problem is that Zinc closes immediately, even when I try to open zinc.exe it just flashes for a split second then closes. How do I fix this? I tried running it as an administrator and using an older Windows compatibility mode =/
also, what emulator do people use to play this game online on Kaillera? Iām guessing itās some version of MAME. if so, does anyone know which exact version? or do people play online using the PS1 versions of the games? either way, we should all run some games together.
edit: random question, why the hell does zangief only have his green hand in vanilla EX2? he doesnāt seem to have it in EX2+ or any of the other games.
zinc by itself is a command line driven program. Double clicking on it will do exactly as you describe. To use the zinc program directly you need to open up the commandline, goto the directory and execute zinc that way. Doing so will give you the syntax to run whichever game you want.
So to run SFEX2 US youād type in
zinc 8
The two frontend/GUIās that I use are zinceFE and zincGUI. I suppose that if all your files are correct, then maybe the problem may also be that you donāt have the roms in the right folderā¦
that I donāt know. I know some were playing the PSX version, but which version that they used for mame⦠I think acekombat was playing it online with mameā¦
I think it may have been because it was kinda broken in EX2. Differences between lp, mp, and hp are the distance that it knocks the opponent back. So mp and hp to knock them far away. lp keeps them close to you which allows you to super cancel the green hand into his super stomps. which you can cancel and link a s.mk and cancel into another lp.green hand, and supercancel that into another super stomps. The green hand gave a lot of super bar so youād be able to repeat that pretty easily for a 95% combo. Conversely had it knocked down then that might set up a meaty splash which had very good priority in the SFEX series beating up some reversal flashkicks and shoryukens. So they might have decided to just take out the move opposed to trying to nerf it just right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5820JRXu_c a combo that ARIKA made is towards the beginning which shows that Iām talking about.
Wouldnāt be surprised if itās still in arcade ex2+ just unused. I mentioned that Ryu had an air fireball super and that is still in the arcade version of EX2+, just unused.
