Street fighter EX thread(EX, EX+, Ex+@, EX2, EX2+, EX3)

I’ll have to try this. Zinc works a lot better though. I forget how to use impact.

How do you get Zinc to work? I download the thing, click on the exe and nothing happens, or I get a DOS screen that means nothing. I’m so mad I’m going to throw my neighbor’s cat off the balcony.

I’ll walk you through it because for the longest time it did not work for me either…

#1) Unzip zinc. Whatever version you have. I have version zinc-0.9-win32.

#2) When it is unzipped place the Zinc frontend in the zinc folder. You NEED a frontend to play it/ You can just do a search for a ‘Aldo’s frontends’ and find one. Make sure you place the front end itself into the Zinc folder. Don’t put the whole frontend folder in or it will not work.

Double click on the frontend and you should get a list of all the games in Zinc.

Hope that helps

Actually EvilRyu, even though the makers of zinc are the same as impact, they did not include netplay in zinc for whatever reason…

Also try to get the firmware.zip thats their bios which is needed. Putthat in the roms directory ziped.

And while you can run zinc without a frontend, you’d have to go into dos mode to get it to work, needless to say most people aren’t willing to learn how to do that, so juststick with the frontend.

Can anyone give me a link to the impact emulator? I used to have it but i couldnt get it to work was i supposed to have a gui like zinc?

The impact emulator has been discontinued, however if you search on google for it, you’ll find it somewhere.

And zinc begins as a command line, however both Aldo and DaFreak makes frontends for it (aka GUIs), so you can search on google or the emuverse.com forums.

Colguile is your EX champ

I think Impact is much better than Zinc, i had the last version of it, and with some plug-ins you can play with PAD, and boost the 3d engine.
its run at 120 FPS!!!, of course you must have a 3D card.

by the way there is one week point in those emulator, they dont have practice mode, so is not so good for practice combos, you know,
There is another way also, you can play it on EPSXE, its run perfect, maybe better than Impact or Zinc, (EPSXE=PSX emu), the ISO of EX2 for example its only 200mb, im sure you can download it with EMULE, and one good point, EPXSE has a “Record Vid mode”, its much better than “capture Screen System” because you can play in Full Screen, try with this one Colguile, hope you have an powerfull pc, ohh and remember (you can Record 12 secs of combo in EX2 Director mode, then play it, and record it)

peace.

Impact is faster, however there is nothing like Ken doing a hadouken and hearing Guile say Sonic Boom instead. Or characters with half their sprites gone (Bison). Not to mention the horrible look of the excels if you have “fast excel on”.
Impact for all its worth can’t even properly support 2 players on gamepads.

Zinc on the other had if you have a decent rig, you could get an emulation that is much closer to the original. Only flaw that I’ve found is when Hayate is on the screen. But sounds, and all other graphics work. Plus with the FE you can play 2 player with controllers (although the HK button is always being pressed down for some reason on player 2, but thats still much better than Impact).

For ePSXe, that doesn’t offer that same good graphics overall than the Zinc. although that does fix the player 2’s HK, and Hayate. Maybe if I ever got ePSXe looking as good as Zinc, I’d play that more, overall that does produce the best package if you have the CD, or ISO.

How go you reply with someone else’s text?
I just can’t figure it out

Replying to- way back… For getting the music to SFex+@

I have a slow connection & don’t know how to rip music yet.
I don’t have a CD burner, but would be happy just saving a sound file in my computer.

I tried Zophar, but couldn’t figure out what to do from there.
No SFEX, some Japanese links, 20 choices of PS-links.
Kazaa still is a mystery.
No Japanese music store carries it or knows where to find it.

I could try posting a new topic on this as well…

Any ideas on where to find the music?

Thanks,

Jeff

I didn’t know what you meant by replying with someone elses text. But I figured out what you meant.

The persons post that you want to be put above yours “quoted”, you just hit the quote button.

If anyone cares, I decided to break my vid into two volumes. The first volume is ready for uploading… but where? I don’t have webspace of my own and I’m hesitant to have it put on akumacombos. It clocks in at 4:21 and is 30.6 megs unpacked.

Here’s a transcript of the combos in there that I didn’t list before:

Hokuto vs Garuda, 18 hits, approx. 65% damage
j.HP, d.MP, d.MP XX LP Chuugeki Hou, Shougeki Ha XX Kiren Eki XX Kyakuhougi XX Kiren Eki.
(Hokuto’s #16 with an extra d.MP.)

D.Dark vs Akuma, 8 hits, approx. 60% damage
[lay an HK EX-plosive] crossup d.HP, d.MP, d.MP, [EX-plosive hits] Dark Wire, Dark Hold, F+MK, s.LP, j.HK.
(A combination of two Expert Mode missions. Decent damage considering no meter is needed. And it shows you don’t need to use a super to blow off Akuma’s beads.)

D.Dark vs Hokuto, 22 hits, approx. 90% damage
[lay an HK EX-plosive] crossup d.HP, d.MK, d.MK, [EX-plosive hits] EX-plosive XX Dark Shackle XX Kill Trump XX Dark Shackle.
(Based heavily on his #16. Also, Dark seems to be one of the only characters in the game to link two c.MK’s, while c.MP -> c.MP/c.MK is universal. Finally, this combo does 100% damage to weaker characters like Skullo and the Cycloids, but not Akuma and Evil Ryu.)

Skullo vs Dhalsim, 16 hits, approx. 55% damage
Super Skullo Crasher XX Super Skullo Slider XX Super Skullo Crasher.
(This is Skullo’s only three-super combo. And it’s soooo hard to do. )

Skullo vs Ryu, 15 hits, approx. 70% damage
crossup j.HK, d.MP, s.MP XX Super Skullo Slider XX Super Skullo Crasher.
(Merely an improvement on his #16.)

Continued next post.

Pullum vs Ken, 13 hits, approx. 60% damage
vertical j.HP XX air LK Drill Purrus XX air Praec Larum XX Res Arcana (1 hit) XX Praec Larum.
(Credit goes to Josh for the alternate setup to her #16.)

Pullum vs Cycloid Beta, 16 hits, approx. 60% damage
j.HK, c.MP, c.MK XX Res Arcana (5 hits) XX air Praec Larum XX Res Arcana.
(I could’ve cancelled the first Res Arcana after the sixth and final hit, but when I recorded the combo I was a frame too early and said, “to hell with it.” Being able to juggle more than one hit on the last super depends considerably on when you cancel the first super.)

C.Jack vs Guile, 15 hits, approx. 95% damage
early j.HP, d.MP, d.HP XX “4” Turn Punch XX Crazy Jack (straights) XX Homerun Hero, Batting Hero XX Crazy Jack (uppercuts).
(This could’ve just as easily been a crossup combo. Just change the timing on the j.HP.)

C.Jack vs Evil Ryu, 11 hits, approx. 98% damage
Homerun Hero, [vertical j.HP, d.HP XX Homerun Hero]x3, HK Soccer Ball Kick.
(A slight improvement to one of Josh’s 4-level combos. The trick is the massive meter you build for landing a First Attack. The juggles are tricky, especially between the first and second super. If you’re not in the corner by the fourth super, just substitute a Batting Hero.)

C.Jack vs Zangief, C.Jack in corner, 15 hits, approx. 90% damage
crossup j.HP, d.MP, d.HP XX “4” Turn Punch XX Homerun Hero, [s.LP, s.HP XX Homerun Hero]x2, s.LP, s.LP, s.MK XX HP Batting Hero.
(The juggles at the end are pretty tight. the [s.LP, s.HP XX Homerun Hero] part works on all characters, but only Zangief and Darun get hit by the s.MK.)

Sounds good  I’m looking forward to it.

Musics? u mean EX+ or Ex2+ musics?
well you can extract the music from the cd with PSXMC.

EX3… maybe at www.media-zero.net

last rites

To colguile:

I am glad you have an SFEX thread! Thanks! It’s cool to see that not every ‘fan’ has spit on the EX series. I wrote an article about the SFEX series on my site ( http://www.angelfire.com/games3/badcp/). Go to the articles section and read the VR131 article if you would like to read a different take on the series. It addresses the unjustified hate that many have for the SFEX series…

wasureta

Forgot to say my favorite new character is Hayate, but in SFEXPA, Akuma looks really cool, and Sakura has some cool looking moves. I especially like Sakura’s little Shun Goku Satsu copy move…it looks funny seeing her do it. The music of the SFEX games is also a strong point; I was lucky enough to get an SFEX2 soundtrack. Darun is a fucker though, and I like the Grief a lot better in the SFEX games. Oh man…I also like the way Satsui No Hado Ryu looks in SFEXPA! In my opinion, SFEXPA has the best character roster of all the SFEX games, but SFEX2 also had some cool characters as well (Sagat, Vega (Balrog), Blanka), so I like both games very much. I was a little disappointed to see no Akuma in SFEX3, but I still love the game…

yes, many have moan the loss of gouki in EX3. what can i say, kairi had his number…

Bad, who else do you like in the other EX games? Of the new characters.
