Whats considered the ‘best’ game in the EX series? EX 3 was the final game in the series but it seems like EX 2 gets the most talk/videos in here.
Most people agree with EX2+ being the best.
depends on what style of game you like.
People who liked a really simple FG tend to prefer EX1. People who liked a simple FG but wanted a bit more but hated custom combos prefer EX3. And everyone else how loves custom combo systems loves EX2P.
For a long time this thread really was all about EX3, but most of those members have moved on from SRK and online forums in general. As of late its been more about EX2+ thanks to u2b and acho. aka back when EX3 talk was the rage I had to host my own videos on my own webserver because u2b didn’t exist.
I think EX2 was the best, though I’m not sure what version of the game I like the most. Give me HSFEX2p with green hand and regular kairi projectiles.
Speaking of the game, how is it that I’m just seeing EX characters for the first time? What’s the difference between EX Claw and the normal one?
Flipkick super
Roll super
Wall drill super
Cage smash throw
Manual claw replacement that doubles as AA(don’t use it for that) or combo ender(use it for that)
Nice airthrow
Prolly the worst backflip he’s ever had(once his hands hit the ground he’s vulnerable again)
also in SFEX2 arc (not plus), he was able to cancel out his roll super into either a claw dive or claw drill by holding up and kick or punch respectively
So every character has their own unique differences when playing their EX counterparts. That’s interesting. Is there a list of all the character changes somewhere?
There’s also the HCF+P followup for the kickflip super, even though it’s just the airthrow followup,
It’s less of a changelist and more of “this is how the game works”, but you can get FAQs and movelists for each game in the series on GFaqs(I know, I know). I forget if there was a wiki made, but the FAQ and the in game mission modes will get you more than prepared for any entry in the series other than Excel combos.
Edit: unless you were talking about the big EXTRA under some chars names, all that does is enable more color choices.
Yea, that’s what I was referring to. I figured if it’s in big blue letters and gold font where the name is, it was significant.
I should have said “extra” instead of “ex”.
there was also something in arcade mode for Ex2+ where if you held start as you picked your character in random select, it’d be called “extra”. Where basically every fight you get to fight as a different character. So every new match that I’m in the computer does random select again. Even for bonus rounds.
Okay hacking notes time on the stage format of the ground this doesn’t apply to excel or the swamp fog(Swamp fog is just TIM texture).
The ground isn’t one big texture as many would think. it is actually a grid of smaller textures you manipulate.
and this

and yes that is the native ratio for this game and yes I am lazy.
why not try hacking the game to show hitboxes like they do for ST in lua?
I find random things while searching for that stuff. Hell in FHD it was blind luck that I got access to it. There was nothing mentioning that there was any development tools in that game.

Also, Excel lasts exactly 150 frames.
Yo can you hack to game to make Bison-2 playable in VS. mode? He was pretty fun, but restricted to Arcade mode only for some reason. Or I just never found out how to unlock him in versus.
EX3 is the best one:
EX1 feels really outdated. Add the HUGE damage, and really easy meter building, and you have a lot of really quick (and cheesy, when counterpicking) matches.
Still, had really solid zoning and fundamentals, so it is still a really solid game.
EX2 could possibly be the best of the series, but EXCEL really screwed it up. (as all custom combos systems do, lol). Characters were fleshed out in really awesome and interesting ways, and the newcomers were all really UNIQUE and fun.
I hated EX3 for the most part… no one wanted to play EX1 with me, so i gave it a try… damm, is like the most fun game that no one plays. Here in Santo Domingo, there is still a crew that plays this like it came out yesterday. The tag system (and having two characters) helps this game a lot, considering the huge damage the series always had, and its crazy combo system (amplified by tagging out). I didnt like the absence of guard break first, but later understood that it would be REALLY cheap to have it under this format, so UOH are cool in my book. Has a couple of really f***ing cheesy things (Garuda CP, Kairi/Evil Ryu lameness, and Vulcano momentary hell), but nonetheless is a really solid and fun game… I hope someday they re-reelase it with online play.
He’s supposed to be CPU only from what I remember. I’d blame the incomplete nature of the EX2P port for anything that can’t be done. It’s funny because the old gameshark codes to enable him show that the player is capable of controlling him, the commands are there. But yeah don’t be surprised if things break with him if there turns out to be a way to enable him in other modes.
I’ve yet to touch the PAC files.
Can you do break things with him in arcade mode?
Each character has their own data file and they’re the same file used in all modes(except cycloid) so I doubt he will break anything.
Or do you mean it will be a horrible match?
I was talking about EX3, BTW.
