Do you think there will be Ex series representation in the Capcom tournaments coming up… and which ex game would you like to see?
Looks like Kurasa and Dan Hibiki won a team SFEX2+ tournament not to long ago according to facebook.
EX3 will have a tournament at UFGT8. EX2+ was also on a stream a few months ago at a eastcoast ranbat of sorts.
I find it funny… This may have been one of my most favorite part of the SF series despite the fact it is not canonical. This particular part of the Street Fighter franchise had SO much potential. The characters were deemed awesome and it left room for SF Alpha and II characters to develop. Kairi and Skullmania were awesome characters. This is when Capcom had a little more… creativity (lack of better term) back then. I enjoy the first two EX games and I thought the music was pretty decent for the most part too. The polygon figures might not have looked pretty for its time, but there is just something about this alliteration of the Street Fighter series that I enjoyed. There was not much status quo on the story or character development, compared to SFIV where a lot aspect turn out inconsistent, extremely stale or over exaggerated. I should be thankful for the fact that there is still a loyal fan base to this particular series…
There will be EX2+ repped at FR, I’ll be bringing my PCB and my book of poverty. Shinblanka wants it on cab, so I’m lettin him get it.
SK I forgot about FR, though I knew in years past there was just a setup for casuals not a tournament. But if there is one this year then so much the better.
Hopefully they have time to run it. I remember the last FR that I was at I entered a few SFA tournaments on cabinets and they scraped it without telling me. Citing no time.

That was the only thing about the EX series that I did not like.
I always hated kairi, and his 1 lvl demon, in EX+@.
Is it just me or did a lot of characters have a “raging demon” in EX+@, far more than in other series of SF

Yes kairi could of beat gouki cause Arika wrote the story that way. Also, stay away from darkstalkers if you think that is a ton of raging demons.
Rumor has it that it was capcoms idea to have arika kill off akuma with kairi. To help the fans realize that SFEX isn’t canon. However there really isn’t anything in the storyline, bios or endings that even implies that kairi killed off akuma. Maybe in some SFEX manga shows something, I dunno.
C.Jack didn’t have a RD motion move, he had a move that was charge back for 1 second, f,b,f+k that acted similar but wasn’t the quick button press that RD’s are in other games. Though Sakura did, Hokuto did, along with Skullo, Kairi, Skullo, Akuma, and evil Ryu.
I’d venture to guess that arika felt that should be a normal move like fireballs and rising AA attacks. SFEX3 Ace has more button tapping specials, Kairi gets a desperation super activation but something like that too. As well as some tag team supers.

I’ve seen the damndest thing on a couple of my previous streams…someone going by “evilkairi” showed up in chat, and after talking I found out it was indeed him! Cool to see at least one of the old EX3 heads still around. =) Used to watch his vids over and over in high school!
Also, EX3 is the fuckin best and yall suck. It’s my favorite wacky FG - they clearly didn’t care when they came up with the new system stuff, and that means you get all sorts of fun dirty things like Rosso rushdown and Sim tag combos. OK, so DP xx fireball sucks…but not nearly as much as custom combos that loop into themselves.
BTW, I’m finding myself mostly agreeing with the posted EX3 tier list but I think the neoavalon crew underrated good buttons. In particular, I don’t buy Vega belonging in Sakura tier, and I’ve been wondering if Chun and Sagat shouldn’t be a little higher. At least Guile is where he belongs now…fuck flash kick xx boom lol
Oh yeah…Shinji do you still have the evilkairi matchvid with U2 and Disturbed? I think that one had some sick teleport baits w/ Kairi and EK winning a match w/ raging demon through a fireball, along with Rosso stuff. That was what inspired me to learn the game in the first place, and it would definitely be appreciated if you could upload it somewhere else. Thank you!
I should have all of the evilkairi stuff. However I’ve had to delete them off my u2b account because EK loved to use copyrighted music which then flagged my account. and limited my to 15 min videos. So I got rid of those so I could finally upload those japan SFEX VHS and LD rips.
I could probably cut out all those pausing and character changing though, lower the sound and put in some SFEX music instead.
For the NA tiers, I believe they based them on how well they combo, how well they can build meter, if they were good combo starters or enders and if they even had a good partner. So maybe a combovideo tier list would be more appropriate of a classification. However generally speaking it carried over quite well to match tiering. Characters who generally had lots of combo options would tend to have more options in matches. Add to that in EX3 the tiering is fairly close anyway, so even bad characters were quite competitive.
