oh ok… you were tiering for the Arcade version… thanks for the info. which character would you pick to counter sagat?
Not too sure since I usually pick Sagat in EX2 Plus ( Mess around with Blanka/Garuda/Guile/Nanase/Ryu . ) Probably D.Dark imo should give him a hard time on knockdown since he’s big and the cross-up may be more ambiguous .
Started playing EX3 again, Im a real noob in this game, but dammit is fun. I’ve got a few Q’s:
Whats Shadow Gameplan, and what are some good strats for him? Partners, Regular combos, tag combos, mixups. I’ve figured a lot of things for him, but i want to know watcha think/got on him. He’s really fun
Bison/Vega: How the F, do i combo Scissors into Super? He seems REAALLY fun and insane, but i cant play him for shit. Also, any good tags combos and regular combos with him?
Momentary’s: Why theyre so hard for some characters?
Any general tips against Blanka and Hokuto? Those characters give lots of problems…
Thanks in advance
That’s cool. He’s got alot of unique attacks, some that no one else has in the game. With the freedom to mix and match his moveset inventory, one would think you could make a pretty OP character, like Seth but without a health nerf and sim normals. Wouldn’t mind seeing some Ace customs in competitive play. something like Ace tag out xx Massive Missile to Vulcano Rosso Sciara Del Fuoco crossup into something fierce.
Also, what version of EX2 did Kairi have regular shoto fireballs again?
Look up SFEX2p vids of him for basic combos and gameplan. All I remember is that he wasn’t that good for momentary combos, but good for tagging.
This is a charge trick commonly used in the EX series, and it’s slightly easier than you’d think. All you do is perform the super normally but immediately start charging for the next one the same time you hit the button.
example: charge B, F, B, F+K~B
Once you understand when to cancel(for Bison it’s right when he’s landing from the 4th hit of the super, right as the 2nd knee press finishes), all the other double charge and even triple charge super cancels will make sense.
Because while the system itself was made to help extend combos, they did not take into account all of the move properties. This makes it so that some chars do not benefit as well from them as others. Hell, some characters don’t have enough striking/projectile-type ground specials, which caused them to try to sneak other moves in (gief momentary only green hand).
Shoulda been arcade EX2 vanilla.
shadow is the 2nd king of chip damage.

If the scissor hits twice you can only super into the psycho cannon, if it hits once then you can combo into the knee press nightmare.
For the first one you have to start charging for the super as soon as you execute the scissors.
For the 2nd one you are combining the motions from the special to do the super Charge back 1 second, F+k, b, f+k.
Check out gens youtube for bison combo and match videos.
Timing is the same for al lthe characters. 3 frames after the special hits. Now multi hit moves like Garuda’s shuga are easy to do because you basically have a half second window to press any punch or kick and you’ll get it on one of the hits. Single hit moves, especially without anything before it makes it harder because you can’t “feel” the timing and muscle memory can’t take over, so you really just have to watch and guess when to try it.
Arcade EX2 vanilla has the regular fireballs. EX3 after performing his kamehameha can also do it so long as he has health.
I’m sure it might of been posted somewhere in this forum ( I don’t see search button for threads ) but looking in Arcade EX2+ , it has weird reversal frame status . Technically it can either be 1-2 reversal frames depending on the action . Like if you try to do wake-up dragon punch or super , it’s a 1 frame reversal ( In the case of the 2 reversal frames , the last reversal frame ) . However if you try for Excel or Guard Cancel , you have a 2 frame reversal available . If you try to Jab DP or super on the supposed first frame reversal , you just get a standing/crouching normal rather than your special move .
I believe its like that in the previous and later EX games. But only for 2 button press moves. Though I really can’t test it too well in EX3, the rest should be easy enough in mame-rr or epsxe with frame stepping.
I only liked Kairi in EX2+ for the fact of him being the only type of shoto with some projectiles having fast start-up ([S] 9 compared to Ryu’s 13[/S] ) and recovery of his hadouken ( 5 frames faster in overall animation ? ). If the opponents don’t want to be in range for the fireballs by walking back or whatever , they are just leading themselves in the corner . He may not have the damage factor from far away (Besides his Lvl3 Hyper Beam super) but he can definitely close in the gaps . Not to mention the dive kick setups on knockdown is pretty good .
EDIT : Jab Strong and Fierce has different start-up . Jab has 9 start-up while Fierce hadouken has 13 like Ryu’s
.
The tier list for SFEX2+ (Arcade) is complete btw . Not every match-up is correct , so feedback/criticism is appreciated !

Where it deserves to be. I’d like to thank you for all the work you do in holding this game down. I really want what I said will ultimately get people to wake up to a world outside the norm that they’re used to and for people to love the series and not be scared to say they do. And if you want more EX make some fucking noise about it. Closed mouths don’t get fed.
Bison (Playable), Bison (Boss), Bison-2
Sagat (Playable), Sagat (Boss)
Don’t know if that’s the exact answer but the one that makes the most sense.
Seems that way, weird that the cpu has their own version I guess its for that little intro before the match.
Edit: fixed the list up a bit. The boss versions besides dealing more damage seem to have bigger cancel windows.
I believe its for the music. Since most of the time the bgm playing is whoever the challenger music’s is. But I haven’t really looked into it. It could very well be for the intro. Or Both.
Slight update, I had several videos on my u2b account that infringed on copyrights so I ended up deleting them (in the most severe cases only 3 countries in the world were able to view them lol). Doing so removed the flag so now I can upload videos longer than 15 minutes. Most of those videos though were from evil kairi who loved to put in copyrighted metal music. So I had to remove those.
Watching those vids of EX2 makes me wanna try this. Vulcano Russo looks badass.
I noticed no one used Pullum in the recent vids. Does she suck in this game?
You should be able to find her in other acho and hongkong videos. I wouldn’t say that she sucks though. Probably average.
Also since the timelimit is now lifted I’m uploading those japanese LD and VHS videos on EX1.
Boss versions in every EX game have had different default damage handicaps(more life, more dmg). In the case of Garuda in EX+a it enabled his “reversal” RDP+P, where he’d teleport out of hitstun in order to do the dive portion of the move. I have no clue what EX2/2+/2P Boss Garuda gains since I don’t remember him having that move still and I don’t use him. The cancel windows seems new to me, but it does make sense in retrospect…
Answered above, the listed location data are character pointers for every version of every char, in the cases of the bosses it does indeed have changed move data. The intros are likely hard-coded for use in 1p mode though.
You know, I haven’t watched those vids in forever. Did they still have game sound in the BG? If not, just use one of utub’s shitty public domain songs in their place to keep the vids alive.
The EX series is kinda weird in that no one out and out “sucks”, it’s just different levels and forms of bullshit. She was never that popular from what I’ve seen over the years, but she does have her own set of tricky shit.
But yeah don’t take a lack of exposure as a tier placing, as there were quite a few members of the cast with no, or poor(skullo =/), representation.
