Street fighter EX thread(EX, EX+, Ex+@, EX2, EX2+, EX3)

I mirror shikis opinions on fighting sample.

Interesting…

that is interesting. Hopefully it won’t be another SF4 dumbed down game :-\

played some ex3 at evo, couldn’t record anything though, but for the most part I didn’t play against many good players. Only 1 of note but I didn’t get his name. Zoned me out with sim and did a 2x short slide into throw which caught me off guard. wished I played against more people with good basics like zoning like that. or even more people in general lol.

tried sf x tk, had trouble getting my specials out, tagging seemed weird. maybe after more play will make it seem more natural. but they still had the bs where if your partner dies you lose the round… probably to appease ttt fans :-/. Let the tekken vs sf game have tekken rules and sf x tk have sf rules.

wished ex3 had the recording match option that 3soe has…

Lets start planning some EX3 tournaments for UFGT8 and Evo2k12. If ST can get 40+ players at evo surely EX3 could get 20 if we give it enough exposure.

anyone got a tier list for these games? I know the ex characters are better than most of the capcom guys. doc dark seems top in 2. never played 1.

and wait… did ex3 have a multitap mode?

also THIS is that match vs gen… pretty awesome.

I’ve been watching all of IHX’s videos. I wish I could learn this game and play against some good competition.

Generally its considered in EX1 that Zangief was top with Hokuto and Blair being his only hard matches.
EX2 arcade I really don’t know. Could be zangief again thanks to his greenhand that he got in that game.
EX2+ from what I’ve seen theres probably 5-6 characters that are pretty good, D.Dark, Rosso, Area, Sharon, maybe Ryu.
EX3 depends on your region lol. In the USA its theoretically Ace, Evil Ryu, Rosso, though its listed a few times in this thread, Peru is more like Sagat, and nanase.

yes it did, now if only you can find 3 other people to play with you at the same time lol.

agreed.

I should probably stop mentioning the tutorial video that I was working on until I get around to finishing it. But EX3’s biggest challenge is just getting people to ignore the bad things that they’ve heard about the game and try it out.

Ace is tierlisted? Is he tourney legal?

thats always been up for debate. Personally I don’t see why he should be banned. He’s got 2 potientally two infinites that are virtually impossible to do consistently, a cross up that might confuse people on how to block it until they watch my video on how to defeat the setup (was from D.Dark in Ex2+ but the same idea still applies), but he doesn’t have any momentaries due to how he’s made, and generally I believe he does less damage with his moves than other characters with the same move. He’s theoretical tier is based solely on whether or not you can do his two infinites, if you can’t then he’s not that scarey.

Isn’t Sim considered Top in EX2? GOod zoning, decent damage, that command grab has some nice setups, gets a ton off of Excel.

ex2 I would suggest d dark being top. Is Kairi… Banned or something? Nobody uses him in that.

I never considered sim top in EX2 or ex2+. His best stuff only works on heavy characters like zangief and darun. Even among those two is mostly just Darun. Sure he can zone and combo, but zoning loses a lot of its power when the opponent can just excel through your zoning pressure. most of his decent combos are super dependant. Without meter and without darun his best combos are SF2 basic shit like back low forward ito fireball. or jumping fierce into back fierce. maybe you can get lucky on a jumping opponent and do a short yoga blast juggle loop. But the most impressive and damaging ones are only possible on Darun, then slightly less impressive/damaging ones are Zangief.

AFAIK the reason people don’t use Kairi much in EX2 is that he isn’t that good… Well he’s average.

It all depends on his moveset loadout and whether or not said moves are leveled up to at least lvl 2. Most people don’t even play him long enough to get to that point, and it would be required to carry around a save with all his shit buffed otherwise… The threat is there but atm no one goes through the trouble.

Excel destroys his ranged game. Even Gief and Darun, who would be the easiest targets, can just trade and block till they get meter, then Sim has to fight carefully, and pray when they do excel through something that they’re not close to him. Then it’s ā€œteleport away and hope they didn’t guess where I wentā€. =/

Like Shinji said, Kairi is just meh. His FB zoning becomes non-existent at a certain range, they are hard to use properly and don’t stay out as long considering the recovery, and the rest of his game is merely Akuma-lite.

I just like kairi because I think he’s cool.
That and who zones that much in ex? It’s not really a zoning game.

The FB trap is a zoning tactic. This isn’t something that is limited to Sim/Guile chuckin shit at you for you to jump, it’s one of those fundamental SF things. EX series may promote going in with good walk speeds and jumps, it’s still SF at heart.

Kairi is still a shoto(of sorts). Shotos need that fundamental zoning/spacing tool, which is the FB. His FB does not function like that, and is actually a worse option for controlling space when you need it to(aka when they are in the range you need it to hit).

Also in EX2(+) it has this problem where in block strings you may occasionally push them too far and yet not far enough(if you understand what I mean) which causes the MP one to whiff no matter what. The HP one has like 0 use other than harassment at just around mid screen. I haven’t touched EX3 for a long time but I don’t think they fixed that. If they buffed his FBs a little he could have a better gameplan, but as it stands his space control is ass.

IIRC LP is barely in front of him and is worthless for a lot of things since it doesn’t combo. MP is right at the range where if you hit them with a close c.MP c.MK link it can combo, but it will never work when just tossing c.MK out. HP goes way further, and has that ā€œnot far enoughā€ problem when dealing with strings. Chances are if you cancel into the HP ver and it whiffs, doing the same thing with MP ver will whiff too.

I updated the link on the match-up tier list for EX2+ , which is still incomplete . Again as far as I know most of the input has been from my opinions throughout watching A-Cho videos and observations of what tools/fundamentals a player has against an opponent , so some assistance and constructive criticism would be very appreciated .

I do lol, have every move unlocked and I believe every move leveled up to 3 stars.
For Kairi’s fireballs. LP is worthless, opponent is just too close and can reverse and get ya before you even recover from the fireball. MP is better, only comboable after 1 normal (c.mp, mp.fireball), but do 2 normals and the fireball will miss (c.mp, c.mk, mp.fireball), opposite problem with HP, 1 normal and it misses (c.mk, hp.fireball), only hits with 2 normals (c.mp, c.mk, hp.fireball).

I believe he has less invincibility on his srks than Ken and Ryu. About the only thing better is being able to cancel his hurricane kick repetitions with a dive kick. But he does that better in EX3 with the vertical teleport.

so sagat would be considered S tier and where would Hayate appear on the list?

I think Sagat is up there but I think there is someone who can do well against him .

Hayate isn’t in EX2+ Arcade version .
