Street fighter EX thread(EX, EX+, Ex+@, EX2, EX2+, EX3)

to my knowledge that was only with the pcsx2 emulator. From what I can remember everything looks correct when playing it on the PS3. But with the 2-3 frame delay on PS2 games on the PS3 I don’t use that system to play it often.

in street fighter ex 3 who would you a good partner for sagat?

For me, it happens on an un-modded, off the shelf UK 60GB PS3 with an original PAL copy of EX3… It’s all standard (four USB ports, SACD playback, etc) I think the hardware emulation was swapped for software emulation in the 2nd generation consoles.

Her legs are just plain white with no textures.

sleep was getting to me… i was wondering when a person used Sagat in SFex3 who would you consider a great partner…I normally used Zangief or Darun as balance… power with zoning… or I would use Ryu… who would you use as a partner with Sagat and why.

If it was me , I would want someone that doesn’t primarily focus in zoning too much since Sagat already covers that area real well . However it is up to you on how you would like the team in the end . Perhaps an all out zoning team can work , but keep in mind people who kill zoning characters will make your team almost unreliable to get a good majority of wins against that zone killer team . Look into someone who plays somewhat different to him like D.Dark for example . Gief/Darun are good choices also , but there are plenty of others to choose from .

Choose someone you think would do well in a team and analyze the variety of fundamentals your team will maintain . I’m not aware of how many people you like and know how to play though… Think of it like this , Dhalsim in EX2+ as far as I know goes 6-4 against Ryu . Maybe in EX3 it’s different , but believing that it is a bad match-up , would you want to have Ryu in your team if your other teammate doesn’t do that well against the opponent ? What if Sagat had some problems with Sim ( Imo it’s 5-5 in EX2+ ) ? You would probably want someone like V.Rosso Area or Sharon for the job since their primary game plan in a nut shell is rush down or different measures of offense , and Dhalsim is not the guy that likes offensive players . Find the problems that Sagat has in EX3 against certain characters , and substitute that problem with your other teammate basically .

sagat is a fairly well balanced character, decent zoning, decent tag combo starter, not much for juggles though. So maybe a juggle character would do ok. Like C.Jack or Sim. Even chunli.

The way I play Sagat is to keep the opponent as far away from me as I possibly can. So I would have to agree with the others in saying there are a lot better options than Dhalsim. Give Shadowgeist a try. Sagat is not as dependent on some as needing meter to do damage, but I feel SG needs all the meter he can get.

Feels like Sagat’s lost a lot of zoning ability in EX3. In EX2+ that HK used to send the opponent flying, if my memory is right…in EX3 I get stuffed cleanly when I throw that out sometimes with normals.

Tiger knee appears to have no purpose now that Excels are gone. Just a gripe considering how powerful it was in the old CPS-2 days.

I tried my 60gb PS3 and it came up normal. Guess I still have the hardware emulation.

GL to those going to final round and hope some SFEX happens.

TR good matches from FR. Looks like you won most of them, at lesat of the videos that I watched.

where’s dat playlist at lol

Also I wish I remembered you’d have your DC there, I woulda brought a green goblin or at least my PSX->DC converter for PJ, I forgot how dumb playin on DC pad was. lol
do qcb, get SJ :coffee:

We also shoulda got some Rival Schools in, youtube needs more ganfinite.

was messing around and found what could be an ambigous cross up with garuda.

Basically do his meteor but only do the first 2 parts. After you land from the 2nd part do his head dive reverse dragon punch with mp.

Granded you could just do the last part of the meteor for more damage, or do the follow up that I’ve shown in the past (reverse DP w/kick to kick momentary, to punch momentary to kick momentary etc…). But its still nice to see that he likely has an ambigious cross up.

Also found another peru sfex3 youtube channel

might be kyousuke/ihx channel though.

On another forum someone made a suggestion about partitioning commands in SFEX3 through use of the tag.

Basically you do the first motion of a super, tag then complete the motion after the tag animation finishes. I’ve tried it out and it works but there is some priority issues going on that make this not very practical.

Lets say with Ryu you tried to partition his shinku hadouken with tag, so you would first try qcf+tag, tag animation, qcf+p. But that doesn’t work because qcf+tag is the command for the critical parade. Even if you didn’t have the super meter for a critical parade you’d still get a regular hadouken to come out. So what you have to do is qcf, d+tag, tag animation, df, f+p to get the partitioned super.

During the tag animation I’m holding the down direction to make sure that it carries over to after the tag, and then finish it up. But TBH that probably isn’t required. But I haven’t done extensive testing on that.

But in the case of other supers that don’t have a command overlap with a special or critical parade it should be fairly easy. Such as Sagat Tiger Raid super. qcb+tag, tag animation, qcb+k.

So what are the benefits of doing this? I don’t know lol. It maybe easier to do this to enable you to do “tag tick FABs” which normally is very difficult to do because it requires you to whiff a quick normal in order to get the fab out fast enough. Also quicker super/meteor usage after tag. Though we’re only talking about 3-6 frames for most supers. So you’re not getting that much speed out of it. But it all adds up in the end I guess.

-edit-

vega and bison can not do their charge back, f, b+tag, f+p but Ace, jack, blanka and Guile can…

However Vega and Bison can charge back, tag, f, b, f+p.

You can also hold the next direction during the tag sequence so for say zangief super stomps it’d be like
d,df,f,d+tag, hold df during tag animation, f+k after tag animation ends.

Using that same method you can do standing 720’s
hcb+tag, ub during tag animation, 360+p after tag animation.

Pretty sure the game accepts inputs during any kind of freeze, including super freeze.

This is useful because you can piano and be sure to get your reversal out on the very first frame after the freeze.

I was trying that out just now in SFEX2P with macros. Seems like it does work. At least the way that I described it above.

It was set up like this
D.Dark from 3/4 screen away executes d.df.f.d
then both players execute this on the same frames
D.Dark < df.f+kick/ Ryu f.d>
Now Ryu can either press and hold df+punch, or hold the direction df and mash punch to get a dragon punch.

Even if he holds the direction for 20 frames and then mashes punch for 40 frames the DP will still come out.

However if you wait until the super freeze to input your counter attack the motion inputs will be ignored and you’ll just rapid crouching jabs.

Last day to preregister for the SFEX2P tournament at UFGT7 for next weekend.

Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament | May 27-29, 2011 ? Chicago, IL

Come on theres apparently only 6 people preregistered for it.

Ok EX2P tournament is over. Looks like it got 9 people, I recorded most of the matches (said it was recording one but looks like 1 match it never did).

Top 3 was

  1. JWong
  2. Shinjigohan
  3. JoshDafunk aka Rashreflection

I believe Kurasa was 4th

I’ll get around to uploading the recorded videos sometime next week. Tomorrow is ST, so there’ll be 3 dvds of that. 1 DVD of pool A, 2nd DVD of pool B, and then a 3rd DVD of the finals. Which I expect will probably be editted and analyzed for STS.

^Sounds cool.

Did you bring FL by chance?

I did bring the FL board however the ST heads have been hogging the cabinet. I did get it running a little bit though.

Actually I was rechecking the DVDs of the matches that I had recorded, apparently I might have lost of the footage for the EX2P tournament. I expect that when I was in a hurry to switch back to ST after the tournament that I just turned off the cabinet thus the DVD recorder as well before I had a chance to finalize the disk. Now the recorder is saying that said DVD has no data on it at all.

There was my test DVD that had some EX2p matches on there so I’ll need to recheck that to make sure that it was just casuals and not the tournament like I expected. and see if I can somehow salvage the footage of the dvd that was never finalized.

but I played some EX2P and EX3 today. EX3 against JWong, Kurasa and Digimon as well as some other random players. and some EX2P against Kurasa, Digimon, Roybisel and more random players. Didn’t record any of it though (EX3 wasn’t recording for some reason anyhow).

Tomorrow is supposed to be ST teams which will probably be on the cab, much to my dismay. I wanted to start to pack up that cabinet since I’m not sure if the whole thing will fit in the van on the way back.

As luck would have it… I didn’t lose the EX2P tournament footage, though still some of the matches might not have been recorded. First match I was able to salvage was JoshDaFunk vs Me in losers finals 3/5. I’m uploading that onto youtube right now. Looks like I have about 15 sets of matches from the tournament. Though some of the players I won’t be able to place unless they speak up and say who they were in the matches.
