CVS2 is a one button game
RC takes two buttons, activation takes two buttons, that’s 4 already
I prefer 3s myself. :-*
And A3 is alright, was never my favorite SF though, I just kept playing A2 and Super Turbo… and King of Fighters back then.
Correction: CvS2 takes 3 buttons, blanka fierce RC electricity all day too good.
This is why theres always Alpha 2 :pleased:
But A3 does have rolls, and Charlie can dash…
Why is A3 play in US dead?
Because 3s is too good.
I just can’t understand how some people can sit there and say “V-ism is bullshit, I’m going back to my roll cancelled everything, Cable AHVB, Yun Genei Jin and Urien Unblockables” WTF?!?
You’re cute.
Alpha 2 is better. Yep.
Not that I totally agree with Apoc’s opinion, but CVS2 is the most turtle friendly sf of all time…
yep A3 does have rolls…i think its a good game…though not as good as Alpha 2 except more characters…
And if someone button mashes against you in MvC2 you… kill them. Please hold off on all the dumbshit comments against Marvel.
if u think alpha3 suck…maybe coz your not really a sf fans!
correct!
capcom fucked themselves i think because even though A3 does have a following it splits the fans that play sf in half between 3S and A3 in terms of ppl looking for competition to compete in.
perhaps A3 doesnt stand out far enough from 3S/mvc2/cvs2…
Consider this shit sigged!
yeah a2>a3 for me
Eh, I still like A3 better. It’s got Blanka. And Karin. And the killer bee dolls.
Because there are a lot of people who are sort of new to the scene, FYI SFA3 was very popular. More popular than 3S (by far) until about 2002 when it had it’s big comeback after we got rocked by Japan at the invitaional, and then again at Evo 2k2. Both games were released in 1998.
Jesus, I thought this thread would just die, but I come back and it has like 3 times more replies than earlier…
Anyway, after newer games kept coming out (3S, CvS, MvC2, CvS2…), it just sort of lost momentum- there wasn’t really one specific game that replaced it. As for why the scene died…hate to use the old answer, but no great console port hurt things a lot… Think of what would have happened to the MvC2 scene without the DC version. Yeah, a lot of people played it in arcades, especially at first. But if there were no console port, or it was too far off, whole cities of players fall off of the map and a lot of people can’t practice anywhere near as much…
and I’m rambling
A3 situation wasn’t that extreme (it’s more like being stuck with XBox/PS2 versions of MvC2, or one of the alternate versions of ST…SAT/PSX ones from SF Collection, or DC SSF2X or HSF2 vs original arcade version)…the game is still highly playable, and while a lot of matches play the same way, some of them are completely different, which is of course a bad thing. Home versions (particularly the PSX version) was what helped A3 become even more popular, but ironically a lot of A3 players shunned it because it wasn’t arcade-perfect…and then the Dreamcast version made the PSX version look like solid fucking gold.
But anyway, good shit to the 3S players who helped run tourneys and kept the scene alive and helped the game come back. As much as I don’t like the game (I like it more than CVS2, if that means anything, at all), nothing but respect for many of the 3S community. Took a similar situation (I’d argue that DC 3S is a little better than PSX A3 in terms of accuracy, but still), and still held tournaments, some of those crazy mofos even spent hundreds of dollars on arcade boards (CPS3, mind you), and flew with them to tournaments… Truely heroes.
Ah, how could I forget, exclusion from the big WC major (and the biggest of the majors in general) didn’t help things. Last WC major that the game was at was B5, back in 2001- for those who are REALLY new, B5, B4, B3 were the precursors to the Evo tournaments. A3 was dropped from the tourney lineup after B5, where it was still a popular game, and people saw that it wasn’t coming back and had much less motivation to play.
I type too much…
