Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max

Still not better than Dual Blades. :arazz:

What about 360 motions or 720s. I’m a Maki player on the GBA so I’d be one on here too.

Some questions…

So it seems you didn’t have to preorder at capcom’s website to get the d-pad. But did you have to preorder? Also, will the d-pad be released here?

Is there huge difference between the d-pad cover and the original d-pad?

How’s the analog?

I ordered mine at Play-Asia, and it didn’t come with a d-pad. I tried playing it today, and I can’t do HCF/DP motions to save my life. Anyone wanna sell me their d-pad if they have any extras or something?

Just got my copy today. :lovin:

I’ll try to answer some of the previous questions asked in the thread.

The D-pad is actually really good. Theres not much of a difference but I feel that I play better with the Cover then I do with the standard pad. I’ve seen a few complaints about it being on adhesive strips but it holds on there good. I don’t see it coming off anytime soon.

As someone who is proficient in landing V-ism combos i can say that they are really easy to execute after you get used to the button setup. Which you can customize yourself.

At first i had it so that my jab and short were set up to be two punches and two kicks respectivley that way i can trhow, Tech hit, and Roll with a push of a button. However i noticed that when i tried to activate VC1 combos they would not come out. I guess it’s because the computer registers me pressing 4 different buttons instead of just jab and short.

So what i did to remedy this is leave the button set up as is and i got use to throwing and teching with pushing one of the 4 regular buttons and one of the shoulder buttons.

Also 360 and 720 motion are real easy to perform with the dpad covering as well as the tricker supers like Charlie and Guiles Flash Kick supers and Cammy’s KBA.

As far as the analog goes I would not reccomend using it because it has the tendency to make your character jump for any HCF or QCF move you use, But I find it easier to do charge moves, 360’s and 720’s on it then the d-pad. :looney:

Edit - I tried those Cody V-ism combos posted a few pages back and they all work.. It seems pretty close to arcade perfect as far as i can tell. But if you guys need me to experiment with something else just post up. I also have the Saturn version of Zero 3 so I can use that as a refrence since its probably the closet to arcade perfect compared to the others.

so it is arcade accurate! weeeeeee

Few Questions:

What is the best site to buy this from ? I noticed on yes-asia they have free worldwide shipping. Are they pretty reliable?
Also, is it too late to get the d-pad thing?

www.ncsx.com seems to bet the best site so far. I ordered mine after the inital pre-orders were sold out and I still recieved a D-pad.

In fact they noted that all copies ordered this week will ship with the D-pad
http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/ULJM-05082.html?id=C8ahFgiU

So i would suggest to order it asap before the end of the week.

Thanks alot :wgrin: I’ve ordered from them before and I completely forgot to check there. I hope I can snag the D-Pad. If not, I’ll just make me one of those homemade mods.

EDIT:
Well, I’ve read about a way to play 2.5 games and still have homebrew (2.0)

Upgrade to 2.0
Download the EBOOT Loader for 2.0
Download and run PSP SET X
Tweak the firmware to 2.5

I’ve only read this however. I haven’t tried it but I will once I get Z3 in (hopefully Saturday if it ships tommorow). I used to have a 2.0 and PSP SET X and I remember there was a firmware change feature but I’m not sure if it went up to 2.5. If it doesn’t work then you can just downgrade back to 1.5

There are a whole lot of copies on eBay which you should be guaranteed to get the D-pad with. Just be sure to take shipping and insurance into account when comparing prices, a lot of Asian sellers try to make their prices look low by totally ripping you off on shipping and mandatory insurance.

sounded good up until i read this… sounds like a3upper =[

Hmm, after playing more of it with a normal D-pad, I have to say, it’s not entirely bad. I can do HCF motions almost always as well as DP motions. All of a sudden it seems easy to do. I still have the problem of jumping back and forward (mainy backwards) but hopefully that can sort itself out like the rest seems to have done.

This is the most important thing for me to know. PSPsetx can fake 2.5. However, I’m not sure if it works for any game. I’d be gratefull to hear about your test-results =)

I have a few questions for those that own the game.

In the Button Config Menu What does the “Type” option affect?

the 2 choices are (- Normal, and - Easy)

I know that the “Command” option affects the input for special moves with it’s (-Normal - Arcade - Long)

But I have no idea what “Type” affects.

Also There is a mode called “Variable Battle” It gives you the choice to pick two Characters kinda like the VS series with the ability to swith between fighters mid match. Do you think it would be possible to have a two player Variable battles so that two people can play Zero 3 just like they would a Marvel game?

I dont know anybody else that has Zero 3 so I cant try this out myself.

Thats all the questions i have for now.

edit - Make sure to check out the pre-fight intro between, Ingrid and Blanka. Pretty Funny. if anybody else finds new intros be sure to post up.

Edit 2 - I just messed with the Network settings and it looks like you can play Variable Mode against someone else. But can both players still pick 2 characters each with the ability to switch at any time? So far we can assume that at least one player can. Also Dramatic battle seems to be another Network playable game. Im guessing that both players team up, against the CPU. I wonder if you can mess around with it where 2 people can fight against you. or better yet 4 people playing at the same time. As much as I would like for that to be the case I doubt it’s possible.

I just got the game and I’m able to play it with a 2.0 firmware. But i noticed that there isnt any music. Sound FX are still there though. I might just upgrade if I can’t fix it.

That’s weird. I don’t think that it has something to do with your PSP Firmware, because 2.50 didn’t get any music codec tweaks. Hopefully your copy is ok and you get it to work eventually.

Well I did some investigating around some forums and other people are having the same problem with psp set x. :frowning: I won’t pgrade yet. Maybe there’ll be a fix soon.

I read that this time the new characters are going to have storyline and endings.

At the moment I do not really like ingrid but I am curious on her background story.

She’s Ryu’s sister…:looney:

Gamepad included when you pre-order the US release from Capcom’s website.

Just wondering is the japanese version hard to navigate through menu wise ?
