Finally have Issue 8.
Not meaning to sound too much like a Perv but Cammy’s ass appears in a lot of shots in this Issue and it is good. laughs And while I didn’t think Fei Longs Water talk was too bad… I was more surprised he had time to say all that by how quick the action seemed to be flowing.
He talks as fast as his fists fly.
In a strange thing, which only struck me on the last three pages with Ryu and Sakura of the main story, but the art kinda reminded me of the Maximo one shot comic that came out not to long ago, espically with Adons awsome grin. (This isn’t a bad thing it just kinda looked familar).
And after hearing all those bad things about the back story it (and maybe because of) didn’t seem that bad. The really dark shaded faces were quite odd and Karins Lips on the final page of it when she’s all “The Fights only just–” made me laugh. Cute angry expression alert.
Once again Cheap Shots was a fun as well.
And its been commented on elsewhere but… Oooooooh Darkstalkers and Rival Schools. Yummy. now if that isn’t a tease I don’t know what is!
And as another quick note: I love Adam Warrens lips in his style. Its all… Big, and pouty. Course, thats the things with styles, sometimes ya like em or ya don’t, really. Being a fan of him and all though eh shrugs I really enjoyed seeing him draw Chun-li and Cammy.
I find those backup stories to be interestin. Of course there are some art style that I don’t like but in general, I think the art quality is good. (Especially the backup stories in issue 1, 4 & 5.) I would be disappointed if they are taken out. If there is anything that should be taken out, it would be the fightin card game ad between pages (though I don think it is possible). I only hope that SF comic comes out faster or issues are bigger. I am willing to pay more to get bigger or more issues. I need MORE, MORE!!!
OH HELL! You cannot honestly believe that all those backstory art is good. Your probably paying these guys so shouldn’t they give you 100 percent? It’s not like they are doing it for free and you owe them something. I’m familiar with alot of the backup artist you use and actually have some of there comics and i’m telling you they are ripping you off. I said before i don’t mind different artist doing backup stories and think it’s a good idea but when i see my favorite characters drawn poorly i’m going to complain. And i’m sorry to offend but i want you guys to do well and i’m going to tell you what sucks so hopefully you’ll improve it.
Yeah man. The artwork in those back-up stories suck ass. They’re stupid. And seriously, Ken losing his ponytail to a hurricane kick? What the shit is that?!! Either get rid of them or make the issues longer. Like mo1016 said, I’m willing to pay more for longer issues, 'cuz I love this series. Regardless, I’m gonna keep buying the issues, so you’ll get my money anyhow.
Hey guys, WOW, never thought my little experiment would raise so many tempers. I wouldn’t expect everyone to get it. I was going for a Jaime Hewlitt, Gorillaz style. I can see now that that look doesn’t rub you fans the right way. That’s cool, I do want to say this though… I did give these four pages 100%, whether you get it or not does not give you the right to say that I didn’t. In fact, I went the extra mile to have this story penciled tight enough to be colored from pencils. Actually, for you to lump me with Adam Warren, and Salvador, is an honor, both of those are the epitimate of proffesional in the comic industry. Attached are some of the pencils, so you can all see where I came from. Honestly, I loved the way this came out, the colorist did an amazing job, it is by far one of my proudest pieces!

I knew it! The backgrougds look like from the sakura stage in Alpha 3. And being a fan since Ninja boy, Garza ur artwork
portrayed the J-pop feel of the story. I liked it alot:)
i don’t wanna sound like a suck up but i really enjoyed your artistic style especially the expressions you gave the characters. despite what others have to say [who probably couldn’t draw a streetfighter character if there life could depended on it] you did an excelllent job.
And I’ve already said my piece defending it but I have to say its great seeing some of the pencil work before the finished piece. A big “Thank you very much” for sharing that. I think its awsome the way they turned your penciled backgrounds into what we saw in the comic. At first I actually thought the backgrounds were done in some sort of 3D package and the characters added to them afterwards. M3th and Gary Yeung did do an amazing job.
Cool stuff.
And don’t pay mind to some of the fans waves hands For all of the ones that moan and get upset there’s a good portion that do enjoy seeing different styles do the comics and as someone said, that bold (J-popish?) style suited the two school girls back story.
I also just noticed the same person was behind this story as the last one (Ken Siu-Chong - who is the writer of the comic in the first place). I wonder if thats true for all the others to?
I loved the issue very much and the backup story was great as well.I loved how Karin used her counter against Sakura.Great stuff! I am somewhat of an artist and I appreciate different artstyles and its good to have the street fighter characters represented in different styles. Don’t pay mind to these people who say things like it ‘sucked ass’ and the art was terrible,because these people sound really immature and they probably arent much older than 10 and probably appriciate nothing in life anyways.Keep up the great work and please dont remove the backup stories,they are very good and needed to explain and show things that happened between certain characters and certain situations in the past. Thank you so much,udon ,for bringing me the BEST comic of all time.And I really mean that,because i can’t wait for that certain day of each month to head to the comic book shop and pick up each cover for the next street fighter issue.
You know I thought you were going for a Jamei Hewlitt style, turns out I was right! Since I love Tank Girl and the rest of Hewlitt’s work this has been my fav backup story so far, great job!

im glad u showed us the penicls, cuz they are really good, i guess some ppl rnt just happy with the end product with teh colors and all, cuz personally for me, i love the pencils better. but still i think u did a good job.
Whether or not I’m a fan of you’re style, I really appreciate you coming to the boards here, Ale. The more I see the people who create this comic sign up at SRK and actually communicate with the fans, the happier I am. I am glad to see you defend your style, and perhaps we’ll see you doing a backstory again. It would certainly be interesting.
I’d give more praise, but I’d just say the same things as everyone else has (great issue, Bruce Lee, etc).
I’m actually gonna add a little rant here. My local comic store hasn’t got a foil issue since the Guile one (#4?). Is Atomik Pop a nationwide store? Because the one I go to (Atomic Comics) doesn’t seem like it (only seen one store here). Would Atomik Pop be more likely to have those foils?

I liked when Sakura got bonked with her own shoe.
The comic shop I go to is (as far as I know) a locally owned little thang. He still manages to get 1 of each cover for me each time though. Supply and demand baby! Tell your comic owners that you want them to order and save you a copy of the foil covers. If they refuse, do business elsewhere I’d say.

And for those who feels that we got ripped off, I am sorry, but we NEVER feel this way. I think all the guests has put in their best for the project, we do get our money’s worth (if we paid, and a lot of times, it is not the payment that matters). If you do not agree that their work appreals to you artistically, it is fine. It is your opinion. But just go out loud and say it “suck” does not mean the same. “It suck” has an insulting nature to it, and unless you can draw better (and you have to PROVE it to me and possibly everyone else here!), you are not entitled to such comment. Because that is disrespectful.
Take this as a second warning. One more of this, I will never show up here again.

Hes my favourite ever artist and seeing him do anything StreetFighter related would just be too f**kin cool for words!!:eek:
we need to chill out in here guys. Both Ale and Erik (as well as the backup artists and the UDON team) are super busy. It’s a RARE privledge to have these guys posting here. Let’s try to support them a little more instead of calling names and such. If you mean to offer suggestions, please do it with respect.

Wow alot of tension here! Ok first i would like to say the pencils are awesome, but i still don’t like the faces too much. The finals for 8 back-up story iIdidn’t enjoy as much as the pencils.
To say loroca did a hundred percent with 7 is very iffy. Those seemed more like sketches to me and also seemed that Tsang didn’t even want to color them. Over 8 is a great issue.
