They talk specifically about this, even using 3s OE as an example, and he says that it depends on what the community is playing.
MK is in this year because he wants to give it a chance, and Blazblu is in because they dropped out last year to let MvC2 have one last shot, so they owe the Blazblu community.
If 3s is being placed at the EVO qualifiers then its in, if its not being place it wonât be at EVO.
who cares if it is at EVO? I would rather it not be there as the American community still needs a lot of time to grow and understand this game before its at EVO again. otherwise, it probably would be the same as it has been, and not many want that.

I think thereâs some truth in that but it really depends who would bother to show up, right? The thing is I donât think many of the good US players have any interest in flying to EVO to play in basically a small side tourney with probably a meager pot. Thatâs really the issue. And since the game is not popular, EVO wonât put anything into it which means no one will bother, etc. death spiral.

I think if EVO was attractive enough to 3S players it would be a great way to get people excited. I donât see that happening though. If Capcom wanted to step up and throw some money down for a 3s event at EVO though Iâm sure some peoplesâ interest would be piqued and weâd see a lot more interest. Fat chance of that happening though.
With how 3s was ran the last few years it was a game i honestly donât want the game back unless it will be done right. No more single game shit.
Yeah, itâs no wonder 3S in the US has gotten such a bad reputation. It took the Japanese to help kick-start how to REALLY play it in 2K2, and it took full-parrying a Super to make it popular in 2K4.
After that, moving Evo to Vegas did NOT help the scene any. Not too many Japanese players were willing to go, the console switch alienated a lot of arcade-only veterans(who were the best players, and still are), only a select few top US players who happened to use Chun made it to Top 8, so on and so forth.
The rest of America only managed to get a small taste of what the game and the scene is really like, and it sucks to see that the general opinion is pretty much from American results.

Iâm glad that there is no 3S at EVO anymore. If it were to come back, I think itâd do more damage than good. It would only reinforce the idea that the game is centred around three characters (more like two, in EVOâs case).
It doesnât help that the Japanese players who do decide to come to EVO, happen to use Chun or Yun.
