This won’t sell as well as MvC2 PS3/Xbox360 and that had no visible impact on how many people attend MvC2 tournaments.
The community will stay the same size if not continue to shrink. The only thing this release has going for it is the convenience of being able to play it on the latest systems with working online.
Uhhh who the hell is using a super outside of a combo? I mean I guess chip damage and Ryu SAIII and maybe a couple others but otherwise…
Trust me I’d love an arcade perfect port of it and I’d be completely fine if that’s all it was. I’m just saying that if a few very minor things were tweaked would it be that bad? Like I had mentioned earlier about taking away a stock of super for Chun’s SAII (though that would probably change how she is played) or better yet, reduce the damage. There are many things that can be done that wouldn’t change how the game is played (too much).
Backlash from the very small 3S community that is left?
The right course of action should be derived from the purpose of the re-release.
Is Capcom’s purpose of this Online version to appease the small but diehard 3S community, or to appeal to newer players who passed up the game back in the day?
Because Capcom stopped producing FGs for nearly a whole decade?
You’ve already stated that, people who don’t play the game don’t have enough say in the matter. You’ve also stated that, you don’t play the game. So before you make your self look like a complete retard, I’d stop…
For newer players, it’d be a new experience either way. Why change it?
The game has already shown it can appeal to newer players. 3S is the game that ushered in a whole new generation of players in 04-05. Why couldn’t it do it again? Well, the real question is: why could a rebalance do it, and not the original version?
when this rolls around on ps3 or 360, imma buy a console just for it. I haven’t even bought one for sf4. But 3s is where its at, and hopefully netplay don’t suck. i’ve been playing 3s for 5 years (pretty short compared to the OGs) and I would like it to be totally unchanged from the arcade version. urien unblockables are fun to watch.
Are you blind? I said it would change how she is played. My mistake, I probably shouldn’t have said probably. Sheesh. And I probably could’ve made it more clear “or better yet, reduce the damage” probably should’ve been “or much better yet, leave it as two stocks and reduce the damage”. Sorry sir.
All to be fair, I will defend HAV since I actually have seen that he knows 3rdStrike and when he says he doesn’t “play” the game, he means he’s not a top player in 3S. All of you scrubs blasting him don’t know what you’re talking about.
I’ve met him personally and know that he played tournament level 3S for years just like everyone else last decade with some of the best 3S players in the country and I guarantee he knows more about 3S than 99.98% of you.
My first fighting game was SF3 (I was really young lol) and I had anniversary collection and played 3S (no good). So I am KINDA happy about this.
I also visit the MVC2 forums, and some of these veterans are bitching that it isn’t like the Dreamcast or Arcade version. Like for example, Blackheart is upper mid tier in the arcades, but on the next gen versions, he gets like a free reset with his roundhouse demons and it is mad annoying to get hit by all that random chip damage, which make people believe that he is top-tier which he definately is. Cyclops’ infinite is almost impossible. Also the online is an epic-fail because there are glitches where if you try to get on rank, and you get disconnected, the screen is blank and you can’t get out of it. and more…
Anyway if they were gonna rebalance it, they’d have to throw in original mode, there’s just no way they’re fucking with that success without having a safety net and I like that idea.
Yeah thats why we got probably only max 300 playing regulary 3rd strike on ggpo. Many players dunno about ggpo or can´t get it to work so we need a perfect port on xbl and psn.
If they rebalance it, it’ll be new. And if it’s not complete ass it will get regenerated hype @ tournies. Thus potential new player or the return of old players.
Regardless, they should add the original mode.
Thus everyone wins.
And if Ono was smart:
If everyone wins, he gets everyone’s money.
