Arcade perfect or nothing. Any sort of changes will split the community. I mean, look at SSF4. That trash game killed the SF4 scene. I don’t want that to happen with 3S.

Since everyone is so concerned with turnout let’s swap everything that’s not SSF4 out with Madden and Halo 25. I’ll show up at a tourney and ask the organizer if I can run a 3s side tourney. Some people go for it, some don’t. The new crowd is concerned more with not losing than challenging themselves. Watch EVO’s numbers drop quick when the new host of players realize that it’s the same 5 people winning every SSF4 tourney every year just like it is in every game. Since when does the US set the bar for comp anyway. I could care less what EVO hosts or doesn’t host.
Really dude? Have you played on GGPO lately? There’s nothing but Ryu/Ken scrubs on there. I would say there’s maybe 5-10 people (not counting the Japs) that are high level, I’m talking tourney level.
The fanboys make the claim that a re-balance would split the community. I still see high level ST tourneys, and I’m seeing HDR high level shit. I mean ST is at SBO this year. That should tell you everything. It wouldn’t splinter the community in the slightest.
The truth is the game does need a re-balance, it’s stale at this point. People are bored with Chun/Yun/Ken matches all the time. That’s why people get excited when they see Kuroda destroy everyone with Q, or KSK dominate with Alex and etc. The game needs a new lease on life, and a re-balance will do just that. I’m only worried because Ono is involved, if Backbone were doing this I wouldn’t worry too much. But everything Ono has done has had shitty netcode and easy mode options.
btw 3s didn’t die. The old guys that run evo and all the other tournaments forced it into retirement because it couldn’t turn up a nice enough profit for their mcribs and abercrombie jackets.
3s was never a 2000 man tourney kinda scene. I think the most I saw at evo was 500, and that was because there were only so many people that were into fighting games. sf4 has such a strong following because it was the money it needed to come out a power house. Had 3s been given such a chance, the lot of you sf4 **** would still be playing your wow or your counter strike or your halo and wouldn’t be wasting our time with any of this. I didn’t think this through hard enough, I don’t think…
I couldve sworn hen the HD SF2T was announced it was explicity stated that any gameplay modifications were strictly out of the question since it would be outside the scope of the project. Then they caved to fan pressure and decided to have an option to turn off 1 or 2 ‘gamebreaking’ features, then they couldnt stop and ended up just making a completely new game beside the visually updated OG.
All these arguments people acting like they know shit are rediculous; it is impossible for bison to be in SF4 due to canon issues; TVC will absolutely not be released in the states becuase of all licencing issues;capcom doesnt have marvel licence sorry no MVC3 dumbass

For those that do know 3S, I doubt they’re trying to learn a whole new game. They just wanna play the game they love. I’ll never understand why everyone always needs some new shit, as if these games have finite possibilities.
You don’t see grandmasters asking for Chess 2, because they want rook to be better in a rebalance.
You know, buffing the attacks of say, twelve and sean, and giving Remy a blockstring and meter build with his sonic booms won’t be game breaking.
They can tweak it just a tad so the lower tiers have a decent chance this time round.
Don’t take out unblockables and all that goodness, but some characters could use some damage increases across the board.
Fighting games are not Chess, they’re maybe Checkers.
