Yeah unless you live in Japan the whole “arcade or bust” is just some old guard preaching that won’t really matter by the time the game comes out. There will still be the set of people that play on arcades cuz they randomly have one by their house or whatever the fuck but other than that what’s going to keep this going in tourneys is console play just like CVS2 and MVC2 for the past set of years. 3S is the only game of the non HD console games that has any shot of being revived at at majors and possibly at Evo so there’s definitely no reason to not support it and regularly play it both online and at tournaments. The supposed arcade perfect port and extremely clean online play should bring about significant new blood that wants to try their might against the old guard that will bring a lot of flavor back into the tourney scene and get the old guys up and going again.
everyones happy 3s is coming out again neiman.
Your post is the precise reason why people want this game to be 100% arcade perfect. The scene is dying down in most places (exception of Japan), hence people want the new console version to not only breathe new life into the scene, but be as faithful to the original as possible. No one is bashing Capcom for their efforts. If you sincerely believe so, you need to reread the posts. There is a difference between pointing out what can be changed to make the game fall in line with the original and being needlessly critical. People need to fall back with this sudden urge to defend Capcom, when the company isn’t under any form of verbal attack. Sigh. You said it yourself “we just got 3s back…”. My question is why would you not want to see the game being virtually on even par with its best iteration, (hint CPS3). Answer, you most definitely should want that, if you are a fan of the game. People simply want to see that Capcom holds true to their word, and we get the best possible console version of 3s.
Err uhh uhm. Everyone it nitpicking because we don’t have much more to talk about as far as OE.
What we do have to talk about is in which ways it ISN’T arcade perfect. I’m guessing you’ve played a good deal on a japanese cab. If you have, what, you’re telling me you don’t prefer that incarnation of the game? You want little fuckups and inconsistencies just because Capcom told you to deal with it and buy it because it’s all you’ll be getting? thats cool.
Everyone wants OE to kick ass. We just like to crab about it because the game is like 11+ fucking years old and they still can’t get it right.
i’d rather have that than watch this game suffer the same fate as ST and Marvel2…
on another note… if anyone is in SF tonight, come thru to the W Hotel. I’ll be spinning from 7-9PM. have fun guys!
WINNING
What was so bad about PS2 3S training mode? Never really fucked with PS23S
For me, if want to record an action, the computer will only do the action once–which means if I’m trying to practice defending against something and I fail, I get to go back to the menu and reset the action each time. Annoying, to say the least.
Can anyone tell me if they’ve said that the game will play in its 4:3 aspect ratio on an SD television? I don’t want a damn letterbox view on my 4:3 TV.
So yeah, as everyone has said, no real record feature (gets tricky trying to record the right thing when the dummy parries everything). Also no input display.
They pretty much just took the Dreamcast training mode and threw it into PS2, if I remember right. It was okay for doing certain setups and footage for combo vids, but it could only do so much. Everyone else pretty much got it down in terms of why it’s outdated.
Yeah like trying to learn the red parry timing on Yun’s target combo. Incredibly retarded.
ha ya that is the perfect example. I eventually just gave up and practiced it in matches. 4 months and 1000’s of geneijins later, I’m not that bad at it :x
Yeah seriously. I just had to learn how the combo should hit vs blocking opponents and then muscle memory as the cpu and then play back. I wasn’t consistent and it was just annoying so I gave up. I too will have to get the feel for it the ‘hard’ way.
Looks like all the whingers crying for a rebalance have moved on to Unity.
Sure, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, but the dude wants it so that people killed by SAs get extra life the next round, WTF?
that guy wasted like an hour or two of his life writing that shit lol
Lol at unintended misogyny in the stamina section.
Good luck to ya guys goin to EVO and trying out 3SOE!
Yeah.
lol nah I’m just saying it’s a difference that changes the experience, you know? Obviously 3so isn’t going to be preferred to arcade ever. It’s a problem for my particular play style, because my goal when playing is to rip the entire stick mount off the cab and fly away with it to another planet.
Happens to me all the time. One time I was at the arcade and my Oro got shoryu’d by Ken and I fell out of my chair. Fuck.
BONER CITY.
Yeah.
Shit guys. I gotta go to bed. I’m double jumping my way to a tournament tomorrow in NYC. O.O
THIS GUY WANTS TO MAKE THE HUGO/AKUMA MATCHUP EVEN WORSE FOR HUGO I HATE UNITY
P.S.- Good luck jwangggggggggggggggg
hey, i apologize if this is way too off topic, but i’ve been experimenting with macrolua, automacro, and fba to set up red parry practices and was wondering if anyone had ever tried it; programming inputs is more accurate than ps2 training mode and also bypasses the “dummy parries everything” problem. so far, it seems to work very well; you just have to change the directional inputs you programmed if you want to practice on another player side. i realize that this is probably irrelevant, as OE is coming out, but as someone who doesn’t have a console (and can’t really buy one), emulated is the next best thing. the speed is faster than arcade in fba, but ps2 version is faster even than fba imo…
also, to at least be a little on topic: being someone who probably won’t/can’t access OE, i just want to say that i really hope that it’ll be successful in bringing new players and also veterans who are willing to help newcomers. i’ve squandered a lot of chances to play arcade 3s, and now that i think i’ve finally started to understand deeper elements of the game, i regret it even more…so i’d just like everyone to make the most of it just so more people can experience a game that i’ve come to love.
