All your points are valid statements I overlooked. I rescind my previous comment.
For me OE is more like a revisited console edition that will hopefully be as close to arcade perfect as you can get without putting the cabinet in your face. Even bigger than the online play Iād like to see the game get regularly tournament play at majors again with a port thatās near exactly in tune with the arcade port. The main reason I like the online play is that after 7 years Iāll finally get to play a fighting game online where I can play anyone in the US and possibly other countries without having to worry about if the button I press or the block/parry I perform will react on screen or not. The fact that Iāve waited 7 years for that shit means this better not dissapoint. LOL.
In general the online play will give people a way to at least practice and go over things regularly as far as matchups and setups are concerned without having to drive hours to a tournament to practice. Thatās literally how I got better at the game. The people I āpracticedā with were just solid casual players and didnāt even really like the tourney scene so I played with them once a week as literally my only competition other than my brother who was only solid with one character. Thankfully that character was Yun which hardly anyone else played with any skill so that helped me to fare better against other Yuns at tournaments when they did come up. Other than that it was literally like once a month practice vs. the other top players at the tourney where you played casuals with them for like maybe an hour or 2 (and in an hour or 2 you donāt get a lot of actual play since everyone wants to play).
Now practicing for a tournament can be a daily ongoing thing no matter where you live instead of having to do regular meetups especially with the crazy price for gas these days. Unless youāre like an hour away from an arcade itās not realistic to practice the game everyday. Sure itās not going to be exactly the same as practicing offline but god knows itāll be damn close and the fact that you have access to players and matchups to practice against that youād never be able to get practice against in a smooth connection regularly 5 years ago is crazy.
Getting better at a game first and foremost is about going through the trials and tribulations of different players and matchups and generally just playing and thatās what this will allow people to do. You wonāt have to live an hour from an arcade to practice everyday anymore.
for the lag problemā¦just use a basic old crt monitorā¦hook it up via s video or whatever and there u goā¦should be less lag than even an āevo monitoā plus its already a 4x3 screenā¦so just set the hud to scan line/normalā¦should alleviate some of the lag issues im presumingā¦
true that,of course
the thing is : how many 360 users are gonna do that ? not many,i presume
and whatās the point if then all the tournaments will be using flat screens :
thatās another reason to prefer the playstation 2,in my opinion
but itās like choosing the best from a bad bunch
personally,i always thought the ps2 game was really good until i started playing the game more seriously on cps III
and then,in japan,i couldnāt pull off dive kicks consistentlyā¦not even after 3 weeks Ć©_Ć©
I did nothing wrong. >_>
U sho about dat? You underestimate how dumb scrubs and button mashers can be bro.
Yeah, they would end thinking only 5 characters are in the roster.
Oh hell noā¦
People can bring some CRTās for one game thatās not a big deal. When HD Remix was out a lot of the community decided to play on the 4:3 ratio even on HD screens because it was more true to ST in look and spacing for your attacks during fights. The one year they tried to do console based ST not only did they use Dreamcast version but they also brought converters for each station and made sure super specific dip switch settings were switched around so the game played as arcade perfect as possible. If all it takes to fix the only big issue that could come about keeping this game from being almost twice as arcade perfect as the PS2 version is bringing a few CRTās, you know people will do that.
Everyone else will be using HD screens but againā¦people will do tests to see how much lag really comes about from HD screens. If it lags 4 to 5 frames on the Evo monitorā¦then yeah people will probably just stick to CRTās for tourneys. If itās like half a frame of lag on the evo monitorā¦then only the pickiest of the picky will use CRTās.
The majority of 3s players from that era probably never played 3s in the arcade(outside of ca,tx, ny). They didnāt bitch as much because they were console players playing on console.
Exactly. Which means the scene lived on partly due to ignorance but itās not like every top player that played the game majorily in arcades went about denouncing the arcade version all of the place either still. It wasnāt like Gootecks and KO Fiend didnāt come out to majors or Evo because of the port. KO Fiend would complain a lot specifically but he still played the PS2 port regularly in tourneys up until about the end of 2008.
ā¦really? you canāt spell faggot? okay you win
Yeah, my biggest problem with PS2 is that most of my experience is from arcade, so I just have no clue whatās going on when I use ps2. Everything feels⦠wrong.
Yeah the other thing about 3so being different will be sticks in your lap/on the floor/whatever vs a big heavy H2H cab holding your controller perfectly in place.
Yeah.
I really hope that 3so is not bad⦠I want 3s to live on forever. Hopefully I can move to Japan where I donāt have to worry about it dying T_T
It feels like youāre getting ass raped when you play on PS2 (win or lose). Iām always afraid Iām gonna end up with AIDS after Iām done a PS2 session.
Really only an issue if your actual goal when playing seems to be to rip the entire stick mount off the cab and fly away with it to another planet. Like someone I know.
If your issue with 3S OE not being perfect is not having a versus city cab in front of your face then 3S OE canāt do much to help you and youāre just as picky as the O.ST Guard. LOL.
this mad catz te fell off my lap time to sue capcom for false advertisement
You guys are so cruel I was just playing with jwanggggggggggg(g). He just gets excited when he plays. thatās all.
No disrespect to anyone on this board, but do you guys not realize that this game is fucking dead in America? I mean I donāt understand how people can bash a re-release of this game when the shit isnāt even out yet, and continue to praise CPS3 as if it were alive and well. Itās not. I canāt even walk into an arcade and have a decent sitdown with someone, because no one plays this game anymore. Instead of directing our focus on how much this game āisnāt CPS3Sā we should be more focused on accepting this new version and what can be done to revive the scene. No matter how much you all bitch and moan about OE not being 3S, the fact remains that this is the only viable alternative and the developers have put their hard work into making it as ARCADE PERFECT as possible. Itās either this or looking for an arcade cab somewhere and playing with the same 3-4 friends that youāve been playing with for the last four years. Also let me remind you, Itās a damn shame that the last MAJOR 3S tourney, I went to which was norcal regionals some time ago, had 10 fucking peopleā¦
I understand the qualms of OE in regards to CPS3S⦠Shit Iām sick and tired of playing on bullshit GGPO, so Iām a thankful that we are getting as close to an arcade perfect port that we can get. Rather than shit on this game, (itās not even out yet, at least give it a month before we criticize it) we should focus our efforts on how to generate a new interest in it from the newly spawned fighting game heads out there. This game needs new blood⦠Plain and simple⦠As dope and as fun as 3S is, it donāt mean shit if there aināt nobody to play it with⦠I mean come on guys, we just technically got 3S back! Cheer up! Iād rather see the game on the mainstage at EVO again, rather than rub elbows with some dude in the back of Round 1. Weāre not in Japan either, so remember that.
Fuck⦠I just heard Denjin closed⦠3SO or bustā¦
Oh I just wanted to say that and felt it was the right opportunity. =3=
neiman, will you be my heterosexual life partner?
