People, we need to stop replying to Abraxus or Louis or whatever his name is. After 20 different posts explaining the reason why people aren’t 100% satisfied with the current product, he can’t or simply REFUSES to understand. Honestly, I’m starting to think that he is simply being inflammatory and disruptive, and I’m fed up with it.
On topic, I’m sure we all agree the sound issue is a minor annoyance, hopefully the sound effects settings in options would compensate for it.
I guess that is one of the things that has fallen by the wayside in this current generation of fighting games. Capcom currently seems to favour the 3d model approach to graphics, rather than the old 2d more labour intensive sprite work. I understand a few reasons for the shift, but I still miss my sprites, sigh. I’m pretty sure if the new Darkstalkers game gets the green light, it’ll be 3d models.
That’s not good news at all. I honestly thought when I watched the Gootecks’ interview with Derek Neal, that 3SO had a proper record mode in training, similar to what was offered in MVC3. I have no clue how something as simple as a proper record mode could have slipped under Capcom’s radar.
I am certain that they demonstrated that there is a save state mode in 3so during the E3 build. I doubt they took it out, but I guess it’s possible it wasn’t at SDCC…
oops. yeah i forgot about the save state thing. i didnt mention it cuz i forgot about it immediately. i dont think its really that useful, and it wasnt what i was hoping for.
so yeah the training is the exact same as ps2, except you can save your state. and there are move lists.
i went around in training mode for about 5 mins and felt like i was pretty much just playing ps2.
ps. dont get me wrong, im happy 3s online is coming out and its great what theyve done. i think they could have done a lot better though.
Have you messed with the save state function enough to tell if it can work like a bootleg record mode? At the very least, people should be able to practice setups and unblockable escapes.
would be great if you could do more with it, but it seems rather simple to me.
i dont really get the part of trying to learn one part of a combo and saving state so you can learn just a fraction of the combo. the whole point of a “combo” is its a sequence of moves. for example, with the save state, yun in training mode can do st mk Genei jin. (save state). now you can practice kara palms and when you mess up you can just go back to the launch. i think its wayyyyy more beneficial (although frustrating) to keep doing a combo 100% from beginning to end to learn the exact timing of everything. st mk genei jin kara palm kara palm kara palm is what you should be practicing, if you fail, start all over.
thats just my opinion. if anyone else thinks the save state feature is awesome thats cool, everyone has their own opinion.
EDIT : now that i think about it, i would use it to just save state to the exact moment you want to start a combo. for example yun standing next to a cornered ken with a full meter, so you can do st mk genei jin combo . saves like a couple seconds of time but doesnt really help you learn anything. the way derek neil showcased save states in training mode at e3 was really goofy.
