and as good as oe might be, it would have been better with rebalancing.
you guys do understand that normal people dont go looking up who in which thread plays which games. more importantly, realize that TS has been out everywhere and other people have played/know the game.
Yeah we do understand we aren’t the only ones who have played it, will play it, or are playing it. We also know that most of the shit that 99% of the people are asking for like a rebalance/2I sean, don’t even play the game enough to have it affect them let alone know how crazy 2I sean was. They just hear stories and see EVO Finals videos. Saying a character is OP/stupid/whatever also doesn’t mean they want a rebalance, it just means they really feel it’s that way, not that they wanted it changed.

Some people are justifiably frustrated with Chun/Yun and they don’t like seeing those characters destroying everyone in tournaments.

They need to grow a pair and deal with the fact strong characters are most liekly going to win a tournament and see alot of use. If you can’t handle it go play checkers. This is a game that has been played for a decade and a half and has a healthy scene to this day, unless something like a 98UM happens any attempt at a rebalance or bringing it up is going to be met with well earned scorn, insults, and belittling of intelligence.
The fun in 3S was seeing people play the lower cast and fight down the top tiers. 3S wouldn’t be as interesting if you knew everyone could beat Yun and Chun. They’re good…they’re really fucking good but it’s not like you can’t beat them period. The top 5 or 6 characters under Yun can easily fight Yun or Chun even with all of their shit.
If they do make a rebalanced game no one’s going to be playing it other than randoms any way. The people that really want to take the game seriously are going to be playing the same game that the best players of the world (whether it’s US/Japan/Hong Kong/Australia etc) play and take seriously. No one’s going to adopt a rebalance competitively but randoms.
The rebalanced mode will give average/non serious players a version of the game they can just play online where they can feasibly fight Yun and Chun without really having to understand too much about how to fight the character. Yet…the level of play you have to be at to beat the best players of any character with Yun or Chun pretty much offset whatever they are capable of. Yeah at the highest level of play you’ll see Yun and Chun winning more often but they definitely do get beat and are capable of being beat often enough by at least the 7 or 8 of the game’s characters.
Sure there’s a certain level of character you’ll have to step up to if you want to beat the best characters with any sort of consistency without doing a ton of work. Yet…that’s what made it fun. Seeing that Q player or that Ryu player put in the work to win against the big boys.
The rebalance will be nice for keeping lesser players interested in the game and not as frustrated but that’s why I think 3S is so fun. You gotta put work in to beat strong players/characters. It isn’t just learn the matchup and now you’re good as long as you’re better. ** Changing around 11 years of history is only something that will help give Capcom some extra revenue and love from those who think the character tiers and player skill levels are a bit too hardcore. If they rebalance the game you can play your version of it…but we’re still playing the game that’s played offline. Don’t expect to ever go to a credible offline tournament with rebalanced 3S being played. Don’t expect to play 3S online against any of the high level players with watered down versions of their characters. You’re going to have to play short meter Yun or 2 meter Chun or not play them at all.**

The fact that the guys behind 3SO have been asked so many times about a Rebalance should tell you something.

3rd Strike could’ve gone for a rebalance (option to select OG 3S or 3S Remix) but it would’ve been up to the 3S Remix scene to support it and prove it’s worth playing over the other. Probably would only pick up in America/Europe, not sure how it would’ve done in Japan maybe it could’ve been like Super and SF4 where they still had people hitting arcades for SF4 and a lot playing Super at home.
The reason HDR died from my understanding was interest and support died from the HDR players, so the ST vets who supported it just went back to ST. I wonder how HDR would’ve gone if it got a Asia release (it was on a Japanese stream and some ST players showed interest but you needed to get a US account and somehow buy it). HDR was a valiant effort to adjust and reintroduce SF2 but I think being delayed a year (thanks UDON) and lack of post release support stunted anything that would’ve came from it. People dont even bother playing classic mode on it
