Street Fighter 3rd strike: Online edition

Well I’ll just say because I know but, the people who are disappointed to see those things probably play on a cab pretty often. It’s pretty damn different. Even emulation seems creepily fast compared to playing on a a CPSIII board. The people you’re talking about almost certainly know more what they’re saying than you do because they know what the real 3S experience is like. I didn’t before, I do now, and it isn’t the same. When you play a lesser version it’s simply disappointing, it isn’t much more complicated than that.

I didnt say its exactly the same. I said its still going to be an awesome game in its own right. But certain people dont just take games for what they are. Some people pick up on tiny details which dont even effect the gameplay one bit. Capcom have said so many times now that the actual gameplay code is that from the arcades but theyve made some slight graphical changes and gamebreak fixes. I know what 3S is like well enough. Quit being so damn defensive over this. Im talking about people who over react and sit there shouting off “that pink is different to the arcade one, this games shit” from what I saw about the aegis comments thats not related because there was some fair analysis and it was just raising a question, there was nobody jumping the gun to rubbish a game theyve not touched.

Ah cool thanks.Probably wouldnt have found them deep in the forums. I’ll watch through when I get a chance.

I don’t really care about slight difference in graphics, to be honest. But when a game company advertises “arcade perfect”, there ARE going to be people who take that to heart. There have been issues like this on the DC and PS2 versions as well, and those were obviously not perfect ports, so it makes some sense that some diehard fans may get worried here.

Gameplay-wise, skisonic saying that he was able to do Necro’s db.HPx6 juggle after only a few tries helps put me at ease some regarding the timing of the game. If it feels like the arcade, then that’s set for me. Hugo could be wearing a cape and a wizard’s hat in his intro and if he still played the same, I’d be happy. I certainly hope he doesn’t wear either though, that shit’ll be stupid. haha

I hope that the record feature in the training room is buffed.

In the PS2/Dreamcast version, if you record an action for the dummy, he only does the action once. :frowning:

I have faith that this port will get things right gameplay-wise based on the different reports I’m hearing. I just would like to have the icing on the cake, with the minor details like 2p Aegis, Ryu’s Bag, 2p Hugo and Roxy, etc. I doubt these things are a deal breaker for anyone posting here, but why should we get upset if people feel mildly disappointed or annoyed if these things aren’t present? Afterall, a game’s visuals are part and parcel of the deal when the phrase ‘arcade perfect’ is mentioned. Hell, I remember people got upset with the playstation Alpha 3 port, because it lacked the characters’ walk backwards animations and had wrong hit sparks. Cmon guys, lets just get along.

Who names a kid Lenin? I just can’t get over that. Unless you’re a Russian.

You got trolled, sir.

you can record a save state and reload it repeatedly to try out precise setups as many times as you want. check out derek’s walkthrough where he shows it off. iirc it’s the cross counter one w/ gootecks. not sure if it’ll have a regular record function where the dummy automatically repeats the action indefinitely, but i’m guessing it will. as an aside, i hope the health replenishes faster, because in past ports, the dummy stops quickrising or autoblocking when it has no health.

random edit: anyone else notice the in-game typo? in the settings menu, the widest of the view options is spelled “streched.” i must be getting adhd or something. couldn’t notice any errors until this week.

Hoping Shadowloo Showdown put some of the 3S tourney theyre doing up on stream or put them in some youtube match vids. All the worthwhile watching tourney play these days is from Japan and that has japanese commentary which sadly I cannot follow at all. Gootecks is there too so maybe we’ll see him bust out the old Urien for a crack. Either way should be worth checking out.

If they did used the console version and worked around it they shouldn’t have boosted about how arcade perfect the game was, it’s going to be MVC2 for XBL/PSN all over again or worst CCC2 (Capcom Classic Collection 2 which Sirlin worked on) where Sirlin boosted about how it’s going to be the DEFINITIVE version of ST cause they are emulating the arcade instead of porting but fucked up the game by updating the sound/music. They never give enough credit to how much time players will spend comparing it to the arcade version or the selling point of a PERFECT arcade port of a game, not those stupid bells and whistle that people probably will look at once and never again.

When the game does drop, I expect people to see people shaking their fist at capcom for not just emulating the arcade 3s.

Why do you need commentary for matches? Back in the day I used to watch either Evo videos with no commentary period or KSK ranbats with Japanese people screaming shit. I just took the matches for what they were as being hype and just analyzed the fights themselves. Like even when I watch stream matches now, I usually dont pay attention to the garbage people usually say. Just pick out what people are doing in the matches and learn from it or go on the forums and relate to the video with other people. You dont need people talking randomness just to enjoy a match.

Yo Japanese commentators are still the best & quality matches are simply art, some of them don’t even need a commentator to express what’s going on.

Could you give me a link please?

starts talking about it at 16:35. on ps3, the select button (either that or a shoulder button, can’t really tell) lets you save the state at a certain time, then the same button replays it beginning at your chosen point.

too bad the links keep getting buried since this is like 4 threads in one.

Like I said a while back in the thread, I was indeed hoping that Capcom would give the game the same treatment as Alpha Anthologies and emulate the arcade version, but based on the effort they put in, there is a fair chance they got things done right, even if it isn’t visually perfect. Call me a cock eyed optimist, but I believe they’ve done it.

That’s really my name, dude.

and I don’t know why my dad gave me that name, to be honest.

Fighting words from the Sven.

The positive news is that Sven did indicate that Capcom would be willing to patch the game, if things aren’t shipshape. I was trying to find the thread btw, thanks d3v. Eventhubs conveniently neglected to post a link to the original discussion.

I’ll take his word for it. At least they’re showing that they’ll fix up anything that seems broken(that doesn’t involve balance issues, anyway).

As EventScrubs is wont to do.
