I am an Oro specialist and I have no problem fighting Chun or Yun as the game is. I would simply not play a rebalanced 3s. End of story.
There aren’t really any players in the states that actually know why that match up is bad. None of the Chun players can really optimize the shittiness of it. There’s no way it’s an 8-2 in the US. It’s a fine match up. Every match up is fine. The game is perfect.
Been watching the 3SO videos posted by IGN, http://shoryuken.com/2011/06/21/direct-feed-hd-street-fighter-iii-3rd-strike-online-gameplay/. And I noticed a minor detail, when a knockdown is scored near Ryu’s duffel bag doesn’t it fall over in the arcade version? Not happening in these vids. I know its nothing but these minor graphical details kinda stood out for me playing the 3S PS2 port, (no blue aegis reflector, incorrect colours for 2p Poison). Seems like this port may share the same graphical inaccuracies as the PS2 version, really hoping I’m reading too much into this.
I assume you mean Tengu Stones? It works in two ways.
If you throw the opponent to the corner and activate it, you can keep the opponent locked with a series of block strings and the Stones will cause chip damage. You’re 99% guaranteed to get some type of damage in because of the Stones doing chip damage, not to mention you can do high/low mixups and land clean hits that way, with increased damage because of the Stones. Only downside is that you can’t juggle the opponent like the EX version, but you can potentially get a lot more damage from it.
If you juggle the opponent and activate the EX version(Oro shows both his arms during the screen freeze), the Stones will help keep the opponent juggled. Think of it kinda like Yang’s SA3, only the purpose is to juggle with it and it’s a longer Super bar(but the duration time is roughly the same I think). The timer runs out faster with the EX version, but you can deal up to 50/60% damage with it. You also have a chance to stun certain characters like Chun while dealing big damage at the same time.
Go read the Oro sub forum. Short version- EX Tengu (SAIII) allows you to juggle, regular Tengu lasts longer and is mainly used for corner pressure/ unblockable crossups.
Yeah CVS2 EO only buffed and nerfed the grooves and roll cancel. P groove became like top groove in EO because of super cancels that allowed you to cancel the recovery on block of all of your specials into supers. Which would make a game like 3S retarded if you could do that off all of your specials.
In general SFIV has created a generation of gamers that knows Ono will make them a better player if they cry about it long enough. No longer do you have to deal with bad matchups and be a creative player because Capcom will fix them for you if you cry enough.
I remember one time when I parried 10 hits of Tinshi’s Oro EX Tengu Stone in the corner and hit him with s.MK to raida and somehow came back and won. I never felt bad about winning before until that day. He had his head down like someone stole his car. LOL.
I thought EO was pretty fun actually. Just disliked the fact that it couldnt be played properly due to controls…either play on a pad AC style and get all your normals but hard af to do specials (and I had gamecube version) or use GC style and get specials but hella hard to get the strength you want and the strength of normals you want. And throws.
damn, you’re right. and according to this match (see 2:21), 2p urien has purple aegis like on console. i can’t believe i didn’t notice earlier. another video confirms that 1p aegis is purple, like it’s supposed to be, so i guess blue aegis is out of the picture again. fack!
1st point: EO had Specials that could be done by tilting the analog stick up, down, left right… So yeah, very scrub friendly there you must admit. EO also came out for Gamecube.
2nd point: They’re two entirely different characters. Chun in 3S is based on poking and keepaway, Ken isn’t. Ken is much more aggressive and can’t play keepaway nearly as well.
Wait a minute, so Urien’s Aegis changes color depending on which player side you’re on? Like, you’re on the 2P side(not right side of the screen) then it’s supposed to be blue? I don’t think I’ve ever paid attention this before, and thought this was only regarding Urien mirrors. haha
Yeah, but it’s only on arcade. PS2 Aegis are always purple. With Hugo if you’re on the player 1 side you get Poison, but player 2 gets Roxy, and there’s one other color for the secret costume. On ps2, Poison’s outfit coordinates with Hugo’s colors.
