Would it legitimize it? Maybe, but if you’re going to go through all that trouble, you might as well just make a new version of the game.
I think people are excited for OE simply because it will hopefully condense differences between versions of the game. If OE is really as arcade perfect as they say and since it’ll be on current gen consoles it’s both convenient and a real port where all the training on cab can directly translate. That’s more exciting than online.
The online will hopefully be really great and that’ll allow for at least fun matches and good ways to keep in touch and do some training/teaching. It’s still going to just be online though and that’s a different beast. You really cannot lump them together.

although i think there is too much room for error in attempting a rebalance. they’d have to change way too many thing to appease the casual fighting game player. and honestly thats who a rebalance caters to. 3s/cvs2 and a few others were made with the tournament/hardcore player in mind. let the new games coming out now play rebalance with the casual players
And arcade has been the BEST form of 3s. now that 3so will be arcade perfect of course we are gonna play it on console now. The game did not get its proper due in regards to console translation. thats should never have been the case

I disagree with CVS2 dude. Do I have to bring up Easy Operation? As far as appealing to casuals, sure I guess, but it appeals just as much to the hardcore. What about the Oro specialists out there? The Remy players? Etcetera. I’m sure they’d like to have a chance to beat Yun/Chun on a fair playing field.

Dude. You give up the ‘level playing field’ when you choose a disadvantaged character. Get over it already. You’re never going to have the balanced 3S you’d like to see. If you want a level playing field against Yun then learn and pick Yun. Why is this such an issue in the US and yet we see a ton of excellent players of all characters in Japan.

Would be cool to see them take 3SO to Evo and get some casuals or a mini tourney thing on a stream with some of the old 3S players like Daigo, Wong, Gootecks and Combofiend. The youtube footage of them is all camera phone shots of projectors and crap.

CVS2 OE didnt do any changes in terms of balance…OE was an assist for execution purposes. if i remember correctly the only thing they took out of cvs2 oe was roll cancelling. and thats considered a glitch. they didnt buff or nerf any characters which seems to be all the rage nowadays. and OE was an axbox only titel cuz of xbox live. that wasnt an attempt from capcom to balance anything…just to get scrubs to buy the game cuz xbox had the online capability
And also define “fair”. There’s gonna be tiers in any fighting game. oro and remy are just on the low end. a game doesnt have to be fully balanced for it to be good. i guess thats why there’s such a split among players also we differ in that regard. “balanced” doesnt always mean good. pre sf4 the FG community enjoyed the hell out these unbalanced games before sf4 got here
kens kara throw in sf4 is just as bonkers as chuns in 3s. know why you never hear scubs complain about it?
From what I understand of CvS2…which is little because I STILL haven’t played it (and I’m raging, if someone has a good way to play it now without having to get it for old systems, please tell me) taking out Roll Cancels REALLY hurt the mid-tier and below.
Also, it’s CvS2 EO (hence Easy Operation), don’t confuse it with 3SOE
