This thread has gone over this coming on for 1476 times now. The whole point in the release is to introduce the game as it was to new SF4 players who missed out the 1st time and old SF players who played the game back then. The game fell into a crack and got somewhat skipped over the 1st time around so didnt have a high player base before. So the players who skipped over it and the new players coming in wont know what to expect enough to say they want an update while the loyal 3S players want to play 3S and not S3S.
Also I believe Seth Killian covered the fact they didnt have a massive budget for the game and the rebalance would have been the most costly item on the list so they opted not to go with it and went with a billion other great features instead. Potentially if enough people buy the game and play it and the majority of the new and old 3S community calls for a rebalance (maybe because theres just Yuns and Chuns online) then I could see S3SO DLC like AE was for SSF4 because the game would have made money and with enough players backing it there could be room for a rebalance budget.
3S in its original form deserves a real run 1st before we get onto all that so lets discuss that rebalance somewhere down the line in the winter after people have had a few months to play it and see where the 3S FGC stand then.
it totally is. levels seem diff. their footsteps sound offensively loud. that kind of stuff could be changed though like set how loud the bgm is and such.
Ha yeh well like I said in another post. Its best to learn to play with the top 2 aswell as a main for you to enjoy because then you know what to expect. Got to respect Oro players too, crazy little man that he is, he was never the easiest of the characters to use.
Yeah, itâs the mentality of a top player. I know Hungbee also used Ken and mutantxp busted out Chun, both at Evo West 2k6. I dunno, I guess I was hoping for him to stick to his guns and be an Elena main, but heâs more known for using a lot of characters in other games too.
When he used to come to the MD/VA area he was using Oro. Even won a couple locals and placed highly in a major while he was there. I dunno if heâs still playing 3S now but yeah.
Yeh but also the chances are that your main would have a better chance of beating a chuyun because when you have a chyun as your 2nd you understand the fundamentals of how theyll play a bit more and you will be more perceptive to reading what they will do and force them into playing to your mains strengths. Thats also why its important to learn the top characters, as filthy as you feel using them it improves your overall non character specific gameplay and your read of the game.
Balance or bust must be the new way of thinking nowadays. Was the balance movement coined in this era of gaming? Or was it something ppl wanted back in the day but just werenât lucky enough to get it?
In FPS it wasnât something we thought about. We just played the game. Patches werenât related to balance, they were for fixing bugs and crashes. I wasnât involved in the fighting game scene when I was younger.
Balance is a hilarious discussion. The only time balance should mean anything in is when a good chunk of cash is on the line. Even then, if youâre playing for money you should know to pick a strong character so thereâs really no issue. If you pick an average or below average character you know youâre limiting your chances. To choose a handicap and then whine about it is the absolute height of idiocy.
People are so fixated on relative strength. The people that complain the most are those that apparently picked a character for a reason other than tournament winning potential; yet theyâre also the most vocal complainers. They ask the impossible of Capcom and Capcom attempted to oblige, but thereâs just no satisfying these people.
Yea that is true. I have been playing FGs since SF2 when I was like 5. My big shock of what the tourney scene was like was when I first saw MVC2 matches on YT with MSP, im like wtf this is how the game is played? where is Wolverine,Jin,Sabertooth? But I just finally accepted that was how it was played at high level and really ainât got no complaints with how things are ran. And that is what I think happened when the casualâs world collided with the hardcore, it was/is hard for them to swallow that to make it there are just somethings you gotta do 2 win. Yea being able to pull wins with the mid/low tier characters are cool but it takes certain talent to be a consistent winner with those characters.
Thereâs bitching against balance and thereâs bitching for balance. Itâs literally 50/50. I could take it either way as Iâve mentioned, my worst match is Yun instead of Chun.
Iâll suggest this: If a re-balanced version was released to arcades, and all of the high-level Japanese players got into it. Wouldnât this legitimize it?
The argument that a re-balanced version would fracture the community has some legitimacy because the KOF UMâs were released to Arcades all over Asia and elsewhere. Which gives the game a little more legitimacy I will admit.
It would be nice, but it wonât happen.
The whole reason why Purists/Elitists/Trolls donât want to rebalance is that they feel it would splinter the community.
How would this split the community?
Their Answer: Because the Japanese and the West Coast and East Coast players only play arcade.
And I can point whatâs wrong with that: If these guys **only **play at Arcades, then why are so many high level players over here will be playing 3SO on console? Also keep in mind that Kuroda was playing on GGPO. So the fact of the matter is that the game it self is important, not so much that itâs in an arcade cabinet.
If they want to go through with a Rebalance DLC that can be played separately, it has to be handled as gently as possible. No character should be given new moves like Fake Fireballs and Fake Slides or new supers. All they would really have to do is nerf a few things, add recovery, give an additional link, etc.
