Street Fighter 3 NG & 2I Thread

Your not getting what I’m saying is more like it. I was asking for consitency, not saying that “you couldn’t” punish, however I will test out if what you said is actually true or not about Gouki’s divekick being punished in such a manner.

The notion of Gouki having to use other techniques other then Divekick is true, who would not agree upon that, however the Divekick is one of, if not the biggest reason why he’s so dominant in 2I. Also, last I remember seeing the 2I tournament vids that I’ve seen, Hsien utilizing 2I Gouki where spamming Divekicks enough for me to believe that with it being so difficult to punish, making it highly abuseable so it is arguably the biggest portion of Gouki’s gameplan.

I’m fairly confident Hsien is a solid 2I player during the time he played as well as his competition, when 2ndImpact was still being played. So even if it was punishable in certain situations on parry, it wouldn’t stop it from being an excellent move anyways, which is what I’m really saying.

If there was a HSF3, NG/2I Ibuki and 2I Gouki would be a clear cut above the rest. No 3S Top Tier character even comes close to them, the more I keep on playing 2ndImpact, I’m starting to feel that 2I Sean and 2I Yang are in the same exact league as 3S Yun, if not maybe even better. Due to them having better normals+damage+stun+versatility outside of needing superarts to be powerful.

Did anyone notice the stun on Ibuki’s “LP ->MP C.HK, HK” in NG? shit is jaw dropping.

Yes…it’s insane, infact, all of the NG characters do jaw-dropping stun damage. Of course some have more useful tools to achieving it, but NG characters are just unbelievable when it comes to this department, as well as damage as well. I mean…Sean in NG hits harder then he does in 2I.

Ryu’s ShinSho is unbelievable in NG…hahaha, seriously, I actually had some fun with this game, not as much as 2I, but doing those crazy infinites are quite fun.

Somebody needs to do an NG Tourney on GGPO or Kailelra…I fucking hate the fact I have no net in my room >_<

Just a question about 2I Ibuki. My impression is that the reason she is considered so dominant is because so many of her moves link into her super art, (I always thought that was kind of odd though, since Ken can do the same.) but also because she can apparently do massive damage after the super art aswell. I haven’t been able to anything too damaging afterwards though, is there some kind of insane juggle I don’t know about?

Yeah there are some insane juggles you are clueless about.

all that shit is possible, even tho they are mostly stun combos. The ways into SA3 are very possible.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.

Are those character specific?

EDIT: Also, I don’t know if this has been posted before, but anyway, check out these 2I matches Someone parries and punishes Akuma’s dive kick, and an Alex player manages to actually win one of the rounds against Akuma.

This is the reason why I’ve always said if there was a HSF3, that NG and 2I Ibuki would have no equal besides 2I Gouki who would still be under these two regadless. Marble, although I did actually see a punish on parry, Gouki like…abused 209840398423098 times before there was a lick in it. Divekick is still too good in 2I.

Yeah, totally agreed. I didn’t post that video here to prove that the dive kick could be punished on parry, but because I was quite amazed that someone managed to in a real match.

How was double impact oro, does his Tengu juggle as well? It’s been a wile since I played.

You know I kind of think some people are overhyping some NG/2I characters. I dont see NG Ibuki being any worst then 3S Yun or Chun, I think if a HSf3 ever came out it would only slightly alter the tier listing as I listed in the previous page.

I’m not sure where I stand on this. I mean, the combo video Spinning Beat posted above is insane, but combo vids for most characters are. I’ve personally never seen anything that damaging done in a real match. I guess i’ll just mess around with Ibuki some more to make my decision.

Also; does anyone know any good denjin set ups for Ryu? I’ve looked around the net but good 2I information seems to be pretty scarce.

anything into EX hadou xxx denjin is pretty good. This is possible because Ryu had two. This is good in corners because the first hit is canceled and while they are getting hit with the second part of the EX hadou, you can charge denjin then they eat a second hit while you are charging. You also have the time while they are getting knocked down and the down time to charge.

IN corners, anything into LP shoryuken works. Because you cancel it into denjin and charge. LP shoryuken because of less recovery.

Anything into tatsumaki, try the tatsumaki mid screen. Because tatsumaki spins and in corners Ryu isnt spinning nowhere, so if you do it midscreen Ryu will land and you charge it when you land before your opponent.

Ah thanks, i’ve been doing the first one but with a normal hadouken, and i’ll be trying the others a bit later:smile:

Let’s put the basics down shall we…

NG Ibuki compared to 3S Yun

NG Ibuki does way more damage then Yun

NG Ibuki does phenomenally more stun damage then Yun

NG Ibuki has better damages off of regulars then Yun

NG Ibuki has easy strings into SAIII

NG Ibuki has a super easy to do and landing infinity

If “these” aren’t enough to prove why NG/2I Ibuki (minus the infinity for 2I Ibuki) then I don’t know what to say to you.

Did you watch the video of 2I Ibuki in action? That crap is way more bs oriented then what 3S Yun or Chun can do on any lvl. How about NG Oro’s Tengu Stones…who in 3S Top Tier list remotely has anything close to over the top stupid good like that?

How can it be overhype? Someone like NG. Sean doing around 70% stun damage with just a measely c.mk into tornado kick? + that combo alone takes off great damage by itself+70% stun to add with it. I honestly don’t consider these overhype. The Top characters of the NG/2I cast are just simply better overall then the 3S Top-Tier class.

As for those Ryu setups, yeah, Ex-HadouxxDenjin is actually feasible just because of 2-Stock Denjin…you have to love that. Those 2-Stocks really help improve Ryu’s game greatly. I’ve been messing around with Yang alot lately in 2I, and I have to say, he’s become my favorite character to play now in 2I besides Ryu. His confirmables makes him so deadly in 2I and I can’t use anything besides SA1 with him in there now.

Anyone else been trying NG. Ryu? I’ve been messing around with him…and my gosh…SAII for NG. Ryu is just unbelievable+ the bar seems to be much smaller then his other versions which is great, given he may not be 2I Ryu versatile…but the damage and stun he does in NG is just crazy.

I want to know some of his beastly 100% damage combos in NG that I’ve been hearing about.

Im not saying that the NG characters are not powerful, but Ive seen to much BS from Yun and Chun over the years to make me believe that they trully are in a leauge of there own. I dont believe NG characters or any other characters can stand agaisnt Yun or Chun…thoese two are just way TOO good for anyone to beat.

Yun and Chunli are strong, but they look so good in 3S is because most of the characters who where ridiculous before hand where nerfed to snot. Just look at what I’ve stated to you earlier, 2I and 3S Ken are pratically the same exact character aside from a few small differences. Yet Ken is #3, and he can contend with the Top 2.

You look at 2I Ken who is basically almost the same as 3S Ken, and yet, he’s middle-tier at best. Ken in 3S is just as effective as Yun and Chunli, only slighly smaller.

So how can Yun and Chunli be way better? NG/2I Ibuki have way better setups off of normals, they can deal out great damage off of normal setups that involve Zero Super Arts. You also factor in the Infinity…and this infinity is stupid good, and easy to land, and once that’s done, OCV.

I didn’t even factor in that NG/2I Ibuki can do way better stun damage then Yun or Chunli. NG Ibuki does stupidly good stun damage.

What does Yun or Chunli have that can rival combosxxSAIIIxxcomboxxSAIII combo setups? That crap is way more retarded than anything you do off of Genei-Jin or SAII.

After playing NG more, I might even have to argue that Tengu Stones can potentially be just as stupid as Genei-Jin if not maybe even better. Simply because it last 15 seconds! Does stupid chip damage, and if landed can potentially dish out 100% damage dealing combos!

Again…what does Yun or Chunli have that is that good? I haven’t gotten into 2I Gouki and 2I Yang, or NG Sean, etc, etc. These characters do way more damage then the top-tier characters, and they can dish out off of normals or just ex’s.

Yun needs Genei-Jin, NG/2I Ibuki do not need SAIII to beastly. If you removed Genei-Jin and you removed SAIII for NG/2I Ibuki, they would still be great characters, but Yun would be average at best.

The fact that someone like NG/2I Ibuki can be a huge threat regardless of meter+they do better damage+they do better stun damage, gives me everysingle indication to put them well above someone like Yun or Chunli.

However, why am I bothering, as I’ve just repeated myself for the past 2 pages.

Btw, Spinning Beat, you know any 100% combos for Ryu with Shinshoryuken? I want to know, because I seriously want to test this out. Hahahahaha, NG is so broken, but it’s still fun.

No I dont, but there was a video of Ryu doing it (I have to find that). If you know Ryu’s animations by heart. You can just jot it down in the notepad or something.

Speaking of NG, I find it hard to do tiers for it. Because everyone is pretty good except elena and alex.

IMO NG and 2I are actually a lot more balanced then 3s, since everyone is usuable and have at least a couple of good gimmicks that are effective during matches.

How’s oro in 2i, would you say he’s better than his 3s counter part? Because he has no unblockables in that game and I dunno if his tengu can juggle like it does in NG. Same with with urien, would you say he’s better without unblockables, becuase I was under the impression that those two got better in 3s.
