Hah, I was wondering why he tweeted a few about the Game Broadcaster HD. Shoutouts to this wonderful card! Very nice stuff, man! If you ship to Guam, let me know I’ll let anyone interested in your work know about it!
I really have to figure out international shipping rates. Right now that is killing me because I have no idea how much it costs, haha. Also, different electrical standards in different countries, and operating systems installed in something other than English.
I appreciate the support!
Actually Guam is a territory of the US, so domestic USPS is totally viable, if not recommended!
Whoa, really? Hmm.
I really have to do my research.
I guess, in that case, I ship to Guam!
Yo doods. I’m getting an intermittent black flickering from the output of my Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle. Anyone run into the same problem? Is it a bandwidth issue? I’ve got two video cards in my machine, so I could yank out one and replace it with a USB 3.0 extension. Just wondering if anyone’s run into the same thing before I go and do that. Thanks.
Has anybody here tried out FFsplit? The newest version shows a lot of promise for it. It isn’t quite robust enough yet, but I think it’s on it’s way to becoming an excellent and reliable streaming program.
Anyone know what the cheapest USB capture device that xsplit supports for SD capture is? Still trying to work out a portable setup for EVO hotel room games, so far I’m looking at console > HDMI splitter > HDMI to component converter > component to composite converter > capture device hooked to laptop.
EasyCap maybe. Not sure if that is supported. If not, maybe a Dazzle or a Roxio Game Capture.
I have a question regarding the Hauppauge HD PVR. If I have the PVR taking video of something, but I route the audio from the xbox to a mixer, where I add in some mics, can I then output from the mixer in red/white RCA to the hauppauge? If I put the audio mixer right into the PC to stream the mics will come in first and I’ll need to use something like radio delay.
For example, I’m not looking to get this mixer but in the top right there is a red/white audio in and out. Can I just put the audio from the xbox in here, and then use some more RCA cables to take this from the mixer to the hauppage, so the PVR essentially thinks the game audio is the xbox plus whatever I mix in?
The mixer in question: http://www.sweetwater.com/images/closeup/xl/1600-1002FX_detail3.jpg
I only ask because I haven’t used a lot of audio mixers - they seem pretty straight forward but I don’t wanna miss an easy step.

I’m just double checking this would work.
I think you should run the audio from the Component converter straight to the mixer and not have it relay back to the HDPVR. It seems redundant. When you use the CD-R to Tape RCA inputs and outputs it makes things more complicated then they have to be.
You would want to purchase 2 1/4" to RCA adapters from Radio Shack and have them feed through one of the dual channels, and then going out from Main Out using a 1/4" to 1/8" headphone jack and connect the cable into your microphone port. I have had most success with that type of wiring. You also leave an open port on your CD to Tape RCA connection for an external music source via ipod or mp3 player to add touches to the audio side of your production.
The only reason I want to pass it to the PVR is because the HDPVR gets the image/sound to the pc via USB, and this is on a delay of about 5 seconds. If I go from mixer back to PVR it will eliminate the need for me to have to delay the commentary mics, is this not a “Big Deal”?
Also in case my diagram is done wrong, the HDMI signal comes from the HDMI>Component convertor and just the audio goes to the mixer, then rejoins with the video to reach the PVR at the same time.
And the MAIN OUT is 1/4" L/R on this mixer, will I just need to get a splitter that takes these two into one 1/8" headphone jack?
You don’t need a splitter. You can purchase a cable like this one. Hell you could probably use a male RCA to male 1/8" cable with 1/4" RCA adatpers.
Edit: I thought you meant a powered splitter (amplifier), not a simple splitter cable. So yes you will need a splitter cable.
The easycap does work with xsplit.
Oh yeah, I meant the cable, not a powered splitter.
In your experience how do you normally handle the first leg of the stream: HDMI or Component? Or is it completely dependent on what you’re streaming and you just stay “ready” with both sets? At home I stick with component because HDCP seems like a pain but a lot of TV’s now don’t have that kind of input, just HDMI.
HDCP is the scum of the earth. I usually stream component because it’s the far more user friendly. The only reason I will stream HDMI is if I run a tournament game that is PS3 standard. I usually stream from Xbox 360 using the VGA cable and a component/composite powered splitter because it provides excellent quailty and minimizes lag as much as possible. Avermedia Game Broadcaster HD has an HDMI and VGA port, which makes it easier for me to stream a display from another PC ala Melty Blood.
If I have to use a PS3 then I have two methods. I either use an HDMI splitter and a HDMI to VGA/Component converter, or a PS2 component cable and a Component to VGA converter. The latter method max add in lag to the players but those are the two types of methods I use.
Its best to convert the signal as least as possible and after it goes to the players and not before but sometimes you just have to do what must be done. Honestly I don’t have any data to confirm if and how much lag is produced with Component to VGA converts but without any actual facts people can “claim” they feel lag and you have no evidence to present to plead an opposite case. So the best thing to do is to just give the players alternatives.
Thanks, for the price it was worth experimenting either way I suppose, got one otw.
Why not just go HDMI to component? You only need to split the HDMI into two, plug one into the TV then plug the other into the HDMI to component converter and PRESTO. You’re all done.
I don’t understand what you are saying. That is exactly what I wrote down. “I either use an HDMI splitter” (to split it to the players and my capture card) because my capture card does not have an HDMI pass through “and a HDMI to VGA Converter” to bypass the HDCP processing of the PS3. The Xbox’s at the venue, including the one I own, do not have HDMI output.
I think he already does this if I read his post right.
Have you looked into the wiil/ps3 vga cable. You just need the ps3 to be set in component/d-terminal
Yea the cheapest is probably the easycap. i use a dazzle and a pinnacle movie box. You can go straight from hdmi to composite/s-video.i have this converter
