What’s the price on that ? Looks pretty decent.
Planning on going to EVO where I’ll be playing matches with friends that we’ll want to stream, not really comfortable shipping my PC out there to meet me or taking it on the plane with me. I’d probably be okay with something that can at least pull of 720p30 or 360p without much trouble.
The #1 thing you should be looking for in a laptop for a BMshuttle is the USB3 chipset. Very few laptops are compatible with the BM Shuttle due to the bandwidth required. The only ones I’ve seen are well above the $1000 mark.
Another option would be to get the previously mentioned PC Express34 HDMI capture card. It has no pass-thru but it will work with most PCExpress34 slots. Also its HDCP compliant so you can capture from HDCP protected sources such as the PStriple
As far as 720p60, you should probably look for an i5 laptop.
That laptop should definitely be able to do 720p30(possibly 720p60). I’ve seen it done on lower specs than that. However, I cannot confirm if the shuttle will work with that laptop, it does have USB3.0, but if I recall, it does not work on all USB3.0 chipsets. I’m not a huge fan of Toshiba products, however that laptop should be able to do what you want.
Anyone else having trouble with xsplit since the last update? Nothing about my setup has changed, but now it drops 15-20% of the frames if I try to stream in 720p60. I tried toning it down to a lower 16:9 setting and 30fps and it got even worse, the only thing I could stream in that kept frame droppage manageable was 360p60.
so i want to start streaming and i’m a bit tech challenged when it comes to this sort of stuff. so i have a bmip installed in my pc and i want to stream using my 360 and ps3. so what i’ve learned is that i need a distribution amplifier to prevent any lag while playing. since i have the video card and xsplit license i want to know what other devices will i be in need of? how exactly do i connect the amplifier to work connecting to two asus monitors from the pc monitor to the monitor i will use to play?
^ Kinda in the same boat.
I’ve gone through quite a few pages and my mind is starting to just get boggled by all the information.
I’m looking to record and stream, but more importantly record, stuff for my ps3 (and 360 if possible), but I am truly on a limited budget. What can I get for about $200-250? Or is that not realistic for recording/streaming equipment?
I find some stuff online that says $200-250 is possible for a decent stream/record quality, but I see some of the numbers in here, and I sort of question the number.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I’d really like to start being more familiar with this type of stuff.
Quick Question:
Does anyone know of any camcorders which are able to work on a mac as a webcam?
Are you ooing for just a device to capture/record or an entire stream setup?
If capture/record, you can get
- hauppauge colossus
- hauppauge hd pvr
- Blackmagic Intensity pro
- Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle
- Avermedia game capture hd
All will do a decent capture/record (depends on your PC’s specs)
For an entire stream setup?
No way in hell.
So for capture/record it is very possible? Cool.
As for streaming, what would that end up running me on the low end of things (if I had all the capture/record stuff already)?
EDIT: I’m not looking for anything amazing with the streaming. Literally just straight audio and visual from PS3/360 to the lap top to the internet.
the thing i need to know more is which distribution amp i need. since i dont have a tv and i have two asus monitors i’m not too sure which to get that will not cause any lag.
For a low end, 360/480p component stream on a budget:
(1) Component cable for 360 or ps3 - $12.99 at gamestop (will do 360, ps3 and wii all in one)
(1) 1X4 Component Video + Audio Splitter - $99
(2) Component cables - $varies depending on length (one for capture device, one for tv)
If you want commentary on the cheap add:
(1) RCA Audio Cable - $varies on length
(1) RCA Audio to 1/8 Cable - $varies on length
(2) Karaoke Mics - $20 each
(2) xlr cables (if not included with mics) - $varies on length
(1) Behringer XENYX 802 XLR mixer $100
(4) RCA to 1/8 Female Adapter - $1each
are you using HDMI or Component?
hdmi
I use this currently to split my hdmi signals (this is lagless).
Any of you guys have recommendations for creating score overlays to use in Xsplit? I have a ghetto way of making a gif in photoshop and adding that to the scene, but it takes too long to edit/update between matches.
I use Title Sources foreach score, grabbing the data from a local XML file with a high poll rate. I then have a script that edits that (and other things like player names) to be displayed, but you could just as easily have the xml file open in Notepad and edit/re-save it each time someone wins a round. Works pretty well for me.
Thanks, I’ll look into that.
another question. what kind of device should i look for to control audio for both pc and console gaming. is it possible to adjust audio levels without such device on a pc? i’ve done some test streams on pc and audio is definitely lackluster.
Audio from the PC should be static, console audio and other external hardware should be controlled using a mixer.
