Just want to check my setup compatibility with people more knowledgeable than I am.
I have a 360 connected by HDMI to a powered 3 way HDMI splitter, HDMI going to the EVO monitor, HDMI going to the PC.
On the PC the capture card is a Blackmagic Intensity Pro, running on a Core i7 sandy bridge with 8 gigs of ram, and running X-split for the streaming software.
Also will have a Topco USB mixer and two Bheringer mics hooked up for commentary.
Another question if you will
How can I mix in the commentary audio line, is that through windows 7 or x-split?
Here is some SF3O gameplay I recorded using my Avermedia HD DVR PCI-E card:
This was captured raw using virtualdub (avermedia center won’t let you record PS3 because of HDCP), and then I encoded it into h.264 using xvid. (3 minutes 41 seconds of uncompressed 720p60 took was 15.9GB!)
not sure why the audio pops/crackles when sound gets loud, I think I didnt set the right settings for the audio capture.
.If you get this to work with the BMI to get the Game audio skip to the Tapco section Game Audio
Get a HDMI audio adapter and a Stereo RCA Male to 3.5mm male cable. (length depending on how far the console is from the stream computer)Or pry off the housingon the Component and/or Composite AV cable, and get the Stereo RCA Male to 3.5mm male cable as well as a RCA Coupler. To connect the rca male ends together.
Audio will come from both the
Xbox hdmi port > splitter>tv >tv speakers
and
Xbox hdmi audio adapter/AV cable+Coupler>RCA to 3.5mm cable>Mic or Line-in port.
Then in xsplit go to
Tools>settings :General tab, Audio section, and set Microphone to the mic or line in.
Tapco Audio
Then view your recording devices, go into the properties of the Tapco and in the listen tab enable “listen to this device” . This will make the sound play through the speakers and xsplit would pick this up stereo mix.
Alternative
And my final suggestion is to just use AmaRecTV (on that page they even have a preset for the BMI) with its virtual camera output and mixer function to get both audio sources together. In xsplit you would select “amarec audio capture” as the mic and to get the bmi video select “amarec video capture”
StriderZero, I did manage to get my audio to work in WireCast using AmaRec Audio Capture. But, I’ve decided to not use WireCast, seeing as it forced me to run additional programs to stream using my HD PVR. I’ve been using xSplit and it’s been working great. Obvously the program has some kinks, but it’s in beta and works well enough for my streams.
I plan on writing up a guide for streaming with the Hauppage HD PVR using xSplit and maybe even WireCast. I’ve managed to get 2 mics running on just 1 microphone input (using Y splitters). I can use WireCast’s overlays in xSplit too and even change the color of them, which wasn’t available in WireCast (asaik).
Anyways, I’ll have a guide written up probably tonight or tomorrow.
I use 2 different computers to stream. My friend has a more powerful desktop and I’m not sure of what setting I use for that, but I can post the settings I use for my laptop. I made a guide for using the HD PVR with xSplit, you can check it out here… I’ll post my laptops settings here shortly.
I need some advice. I want to be able to record some HD videos off my 360 to my laptop, as in I won’t be able to put a capture card inside it. Are there any kind of external USB devices that can record HD? What options do I have?
You came in here asking questions at the right time. I just wrote an entire guide on recording/streaming with a laptop using an external capture device. It’s a guide to using the Hauppauge HD PVR. A really nice little device, but kind of a pain to get things going with. You can check out the thread here. http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?posts/5823285/
I found a few things here and there but most were kind of old…running an online AE tournament with some buddies this weekend and will be capturing/streaming as much of it as possible, it’s not a huge deal but I was trying to figure out how to overlay names/score on the stream just for authenticity. I’m using VHScrCap and FMLE to stream to justin.tv, I found some things about using VHMultiCam but I couldn’t find a place to download it that didn’t look shady, and though I read it comes packaged with VHScrCap I must have missed something as I couldn’t find anything on it when I installed that.
Are there any other relatively easy solutions for adding the text overlay?
Easy solution is xsplit, professional or authentic solution is get wirecast. Xsplit’s text overlays are rather low quality and not as intuitive as wirecast’s as a result you won’t have as good looking stream. Wirecast however costs a great deal of money.
VHmulticam can only be obtained through the old VHcapture toolkit, the new versions of vhcapture do not have multicam so you will have to find somewhere to download the old hymelhoff version of vhtoolkit.
does anyone know of a good way to stream pc games, i know how to set them up will there in windowed mode but when there full screen my fme and wirecast will just shutdown any tips?
What’s a good program for adjusting the volume on all the input sources to my PC? Messing around with Windows volume control is a bit cumbersome, and xSplit seems to be insufficient by itself because I have to adjust every source for every scene individually, unless I’m missing something. It also appears to be picking up audio input from devices that I don’t even have enabled in xSplit.
EDIT: List of input devices I’m using:
Matrox MX02 capture device (audio is active in all views)
external Logitech webcam for player cam (currently muted when not displayed, might always mute in the future)
internal laptop webcam (muted at all times)
3.5 mic jack, currently using 2 mics via Y-splitter, will probably pick up an external mixer/amplifier soon (always active)
EDIT again: Anyone got recommendations for external audio mixers? I have 2 headsets that each have 1 microphone plug + 1 speaker plug (3.5mm). I have 1 microphone jack and 1 speaker jack on my laptop. I’m fairly sure I only need a mixer for the headsets, but would I be better off using one that combines all of my source inputs (including the game console) instead?
I use a hardware mixer to avoid all of the problems you’re having. A Behringer cost $40 off of craigslist for one with 2 mic inputs.
The 1/8" headsets you have won’t work with the mixer though, as the mixer doesn’t provide the proper power to drive those mics. You will need to get XLR mics. I think cheap ones go for about $50-$100.
I edited my post again because I noticed that the item I linked to actually doesn’t do what I need it to do at all.
Thanks for the advice, at any rate. It’s kind of blowing my mind that audio hardware seems to cost more than most of the video converters/splitters I’m using. I’m starting to lean toward picking up a couple USB headsets instead.
