If you aren’t gonna use his Mighty Strike when you jump, air dash and cancel it with his j.C.
The shit is fast and it stays out all the down like Gief’s splash; That’s one of the things Seth specifically mentioned in Thor’s walkthrough on GT.com.
Really? Protect secrets for a game that’s still in beta and won’t be out for 3+ months? Gonna win some tournies with Thor in the mean time?
Anyone in Norcal gonna be playing Thor this weekend? Please find the motion for Mighty Strike. :wonder:
This maybe wishful thinking, but see if he has any good resets after ending air combos with the diagonal down-forward Mighty Strike. If it can crossup the opponent that would be sweet. I’d also like to know if that version of Mighty Strike can be used like Rufus’s dive kick against grounded opponents. Can Thor use it to land on their other side? Also see how fast it can be done after he leaves the ground (and whether it counts as an overheard). It could possibly be a brutal (unblockable?) mixup when he’s paired with someone with a low assist.
Yea so I been bringing this up in another threads, but I’d love see Thor use his air to air command grab against incoming characters. Since his command grab allows him to combo afterward, he should (in theory) be able to get some huge and easy damage whenever he eliminates one dude and the partner jumps in.
Ideally I’d love to see a 100% combo that leaves Thor on the screen. Ending a 100% combo with another character may not give Thor enough time to get tagged in and air grab the incoming person. Any theories on a 100% combo for him yet? One that doesn’t involve him DHCing to someone else? I’d love to see the kind of damage he’ll get from this:
cr.A, cr.C, E, air magic series ending with ground bounce, Mighty Strike xx Tornado Super, XFC, Tornado Super
Think it’ll work? Regardless, even if it isn’t 100% Thor should still be able to pull off big damage if he’s available when the incoming character gets on the screen. Also, having someone DHC into Thor for the kill should work as a setup as well.
What I’d like to know is whether his command grab counts as an OTG bounce? Looks like it does but I’d love confirmation.
does his ground thornado keep him on the ground, or float him? If he stays down Mighty Thornado xx KFC Mighty Thornado (or Mighty Shockwave) could be good ‘ouch’ material.
Pretty sure the ground tornado keeps him grounded. Again, I’d love someone to confirm but I doubt anyone else is gonna touch Thor until the home release
With proper spacing, shockwave-kfc-thornado would work too. Kfc wouldn’t make the waves stop, but you’d have to be close enough to the wall that they won’t bounce out of range, but far enough that they’d get hit by more than one shockwave. That’d be a mad flashy combo too, if it worked.
Oh, ok. Then I’m not too sure, at least not anywhere except the corner. Most of the air combos that end with sj.E leave the opp on the other side of the screen, including Thor’s IIRC. The only time I’ve ever seen him hit OTG is after he lands and does a grounded Mighty Smash, and the opp is fully flat on the ground when it hits. Mighty Strike might be too slow or not have enough range.
When Seth was doing the character demo he said that Mighty Shockwave was going to be his level 3, they just hadn’t coded it at the time. However maybe they decided to keep it lvl 1?!?! If so that’s fucking awesome, and I’m pissed that nobody is using it in the vids
EDIT: It’s this vid:

I’ll wait until I actually see it as a Level 3 before anything. They had been saying for weeks that Hulk’s Gamma Crush was going to be a Level 3 and it didn’t happen so…
