The first time he tries it, I agree that he looks like he’s trying to jab (don’t get me started on the issues of a 5-frame jab), but the second time (right before the end of the match, around 2:08-2:10) it doesn’t seem like he is.
Nah he had plenty of time to block, dude just didn’t do anything. He makes a quick jerk motion like he’s going to crouch (and if he would have & blocked he would have been cool) then he stands back up all in one motion and proceeds to get hit by tenderizer.
Ah. You are right, there. I didn’t notice the “stutter” the first time I watched it. Still makes me sad, though, to see just how slow and short Thor’s normals are. Every vid I see of him reminds me more and more of MvC2 Zangief.
I’m not worried; ppl are saying how slow and bad Thor is but I just don’t think ppl know what to do with him.
His mighty strike seems like the best way for him to get in (maybe back it up with Skrull’s stone smite assist?)
Ppl haven’t found out what works well for him as fast as they have with other characters; i think that’s why most are saying he sucks right now.
You don’t think that’s indicative of something, though? I mean that so many people see the same problem, AND that it’s the same problem that has sent just about every other character who has suffered from it in past games into the low tiers?
He’s a lot closer and more fixable than most of the previous examples I can think of tho’ >>

Also, that’s like the first time I seen someone use mighty strike (the torpedo move) in an actual match. Hell I didnt even know that it was a multi hit. It does look pretty safe to me. I still want to know if it has any kind of super armor or cancels projectiles.
^ yea he did crouch block the power dunk. I don’t know what that means, maybe they made it not overhead, maybe it never was, maybe only certain versions (A,B,C)? idk.
The mighty strike does look safe, the power dunk doesn’t look that unsafe either. Still probably punishable by light attacks > combo, but maybe spacing might make it safe. who knows.
I agree that maybe he has some unlocked potential we don’t know about, maybe he works well with specific team members with certain assists. lol maybe make a V. Joe slow down mode and tag in Thor? I wonder if Rad Spencer has a come over here assist that Thor can command grab or combo off of that might be cool. Although they do need to fix that supposed everyone but Dorm and Hulk can duck under his projectile… and that lacking of range on his command grab.
change his electric colors from yellow to blueish-white.
Saving that for Storm.
Storm’s is pure white, Thor’s should be blue / blue-white… and if they were concerned about saving colors we wouldn’t have three people with identically colored lightning already.
im just very disappointed with thor overall. hands down THE character i wanted for Mahvel 3, and the way he plays is so…un-thor like and slow =[
so goddamn annoying too. I’d imagine it shouldn’t be too hard for capcom to change the colors…i hope they do. C’mon Capcom!
Yeah the color should definitely be blue/white. And saving it for Storm my ass… Thor takes priority over Storm. He really was the character I was looking forward to the most and Capcom is breaking my heart with this treatment.

I don’t remember hearing them in Seth’s demo, except the HC(B/F?) throw. I’ll be at the fight club, with a camcorder -if permitted. I’ll try to get his commands down and hopefully some Thor matches!
qcf a/b/c is lightning different startup and damage on all versions light being the fastest. slow as a frozen bottle of mrs butterworths.
hcb a/b/c command throw range is lower than regular throws landing one of these will be like finding a 4 leaf clover.
dp a/b/c mighty strikes each come out at a different angle ok move but no one will ever come close enough to you to let you hit them with it.
qcf x2 attacks is command throw super suffers from the same range issues as regular command throws.
qcb x 2 attacks is god storm move doesnt cove as much screen as you might think.
theres another super i think but it never got used.
@ thread there is no potential to be unlocked unless he has some way to completely kill every character on contact with minimal meter his current design will not work. i tried. i have friends who tried. keits tried . the east coast marvel scene tried . theres nothing more to say besides take the dick hes not gonna work without major tweaking.

I can think of a quick fix:

Speed up his Air Dash/flight, and make him dash further.

Increase the range of his command throws, and give the hyper some invincibility

If you want to be crazy and can de-ifinite it, let him throw people in hit/block stun.
