I see I am too late to make a bitch-fuck-cunt-nigger joke as well as a female-intercourse-vaginal-black person joke.
I guess there is still room for the Penn and Teller’s bullshit episode on cursing…but meh.
I kind of like the law, not that I believe that swearing is criminal, but I like the idea that swears should be special. I mean, we need powerful words to express powerful feelings, its just people, in all their inarticulate ways go straight to eleven rather than dialing it up a notch. If it were illegal to swear, you would have to have a good reason to do it. Like, screaming “fuck” at the top of your lungs should be reserved for those times when you are getting out of your car and accidentally slam the door on your penis. .
Still, people swearing around children is infuriating to me. Certainly, it’s something they will hear, and may have already. Have some class, though.
A lot of quality people come from MA. Some even post here. They don’t represent the majority. Crass, inarticulate scum. Maybe the state needs more policies like this one.
It seems like there would be a grey area in determining what would be considered foul language, and not… I’ve had people react rather offended when I use the word “douchebag” and others just laugh it off.
I am fully in favor of people being more careful about when, where, and how they decide to exercise the saltier portion of their vocabulary. Parents should not be swearing at their kids, customers should not be swearing in front of cashiers in the check-out line, girls should not be swearing in front of guys who want to have sex with them, etc. There doesn’t seem to be much judgment going on as far as this stuff goes.
I am not in favor of legislation. It’s a power that the government does not deserve, and besides, people need to develop enough self-awareness to take responsibility for this shit themselves.*
(*SRKGD, this discussion, and this context are all appropriate for this particular use of a bitchin’ damn-hell-ass curse-fucking-word. Cunts.)
They even made mention of it in the article. The main thing is, stuff like this usually ends up getting more face time in the news than more important things. Don’t be surprised if it shows up on your local news station before Friday.
Wow. The first amendment shouldn’t even be the focus. The focus should be how out of touch, how dumb, and how much common sense both politician’s and citizen’s lack.
that anti-profanity troll would have a field day with this one. he may have started to relocate already by now. or maybe camped out in front of Congress. hell yeah!
